AutoCAD Inventor :: Cutout Appearance Doesn't Work
Sep 20, 2012I have a problem when I want to use a cutout.
My purpose is to get a perforated plate but Inventor doesn't show this.
Only the black color is shown and not the holes.

AutoCAD Inventor :: 2014 Using Material From Library Doesn't Set Appearance
Jun 19, 2013When selecting a material from the dropdown list the material isn’t downloaded correctly.
I had just edited the appearance for that material, pointed it to a new bitmap, then added the appearance & material to the library. Then purged it all from the document.
Restarting Inventor results in the material being downloaded from the library correctly.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Link Parameters Doesn't Work
Apr 20, 2013I made 2 parts, c cylinder and a plate with a hole, and tried linked the Diameter parameter in the Cylinder file.
First, i chose the Diameter, in the link dialog box, but the new user parameter that was inserted was the file name only.
Secondly, when i activate the Hole parameter in the plate file and select List Parameters in the Equation column, i see only the Hole parameter, not the new one, the Diameter, which i tried to link.
So, the link doesn't work.
But, i have, also, a general question: why do i see, in both files, in the List Parameters dialog, only the parameters which i changed their names? i expected to see all the parameters of the part, no?

Jan 5, 2012I have a simple iLogic rule to save an IDW using SAVE COPY AS DWG. The rule was created in Inventor 2011 ilogic and was embedded in the IDW template. Trigger was set to activate when the new drawing file was saved. It no longer works and errors out in Inventor 2012. The template has been migrated to 2012 and so has the project file. AutoCAD Inventor :: Auto-drop Doesn't Work In 2012
Sep 19, 2011Im working with IV2012 and my autodrop feature doesn't work altough the checkbox in the content center is checked on. i can't seem to find a solution on my own.
As far as I know the feature has never worked since I went from IV2011 to IV2012. (alot of troubles in the beginning btw, most of it is gone since service pack installed)

Jul 28, 2002I purchased an Inland rf 5 button mouse to use for the F4 rotate and F5 view return. The three programmable buttons work in LT and other programs, but not in inventor 5.3. Is there a setting I am missing? I have the latest driver for the mouse installed and as I said it works well in other software.
The mouse vendor says it's Inventor, not the mouse.

Nov 6, 2013I used Inventor 2010, but after a change of our Domain, I had some issues with export and mouse customization (one worked with IV running privileged, but the other didn't and vice versa). Reinstalation didnt solve the problem, so I hoped, that a newer version would solve it. Unfortunately the problems remained the same, but I could get it to work (running mouse software also privileged).
Now I noticed, that the 'select other' menu doesn't pop up, regardless of the delay choosen in the settings. Also some function keys don't work: F7, F8, and F9 don't show any reaction, while all other F-keys work.I'm using Inventor Professional 2013, 64 Bit (Build : 200, Release 2013 SP2 Update 2) from our Education Master Suite.

After cloning the computers, if I log in using a profile that was there before, I can access the content service but when a student logs in, nothing happen when trying to access it. I looked for the .exe.config files in the Inventor bin directory but could not find anything related to the computer name. The structure is different in this version.

First program works normally. Inventor generates a circular Pattern with the given Part.

Now, the second case, I try to take the Work Axis from a Part, that is placed in the Assembly,
but Inventor does not generate the Pattern. If I set the Axis visible, or even rename it, it works. But the AddCircularPattern does not work.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Bend Part Doesn't Work With Thread Feature Present
Oct 31, 2012I've attached an example of a workflow we use to make different instances of products.part1 gets assembled in assembly1 which then gets derived in part2 to receive a bend.We use assembly1 in one place and part2 in another.(this is a simplified example, made with IV2013 SP1.1)
In part1, if you add the thread feature, the "bend part" feature in part2 fails after updating.This also happens if you try to add a "bend part" to part1 AFTER the thread feature, if the bend is present beforehand it does work.
Having the bend before the thread feature in part1 doesn't work with our workflow, because we need the assembly1 to be straight.In short, the thread feature is causing problems with "bend part".
I can't say if this problem was present in previous versions or even in the previous service pack since we don't use this workflow that often, especially with threaded parts, but i hope this can get fixed with a hotfix.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Creating A Cutout With Derived Parts
Jul 31, 2013I am using Inventor 2012. I have a part that has 3 different inserts of a different material that I have to cut out. So I create 3 different assemblies with the part and the the 3 different inserts. Then I create 3 parts to derived the cutouts. Then 3 new assemblies to create the final assembly with the part and its insert.
Does Inventor 2014 have a way to do this with an i Assembly? I can't seem to derive a member of an i Assembly now. In my old CAD system I was able to create a table with one assembly that contained one part, three different inserts and 3 different cutouts. Right now this seems like a lot of work.

May 12, 2010I am working on a new way to model sheet metal drums we currently manufacture at my company. The flat patterns are typically cutout on a Trumph machine, then rolled and spot welded along a seam on the ends. The drums also will have a shaped cutout located in the middle of the part. I have attached one drum with the cutout, file 7501_DRUM_TEST.ipt The flat pattern looks perfect, but the "folded" model has edge problems on the interior shaped cutout where the radiuses intersect with straight lines (see model file).

Aug 24, 2012I'm having trouble finding or creating an 'appearance' that actually looks like glass. Each of the appearances in the Inventor library and Autodesk libraries are milky and not very transparent at all. I'd like to find or create a material that is almost 100% clear, but reflects the environment.
The transparency slider scales from 0-100% but the results are more like 0-75%.Inventor Studio looks just as bad.I've got to believe that it's not impossible to do without Showcase or 3DS Max.

Oct 6, 2012I've been attempting to create a sphere with an Earth texture, for which I've made a custom appearance with a flattened picture of earth. Instead of wrapping to the sphere, however, the image is mirrored on both sides of the sphere and extremely distorted. I knew wrapping 2D geometry to a sphere was not strictly possible, but is there no way to pull it off with an image?
If not, would something like this be possible in 3DS max?

Mar 6, 2013I am clearing an override of a part in a subassembly. I tried to use the clear appearance button but I get message saying Active Design View has no appearance overrides which is not true. You can see in my attachment there clearly is an override from Chrome-Polished in the IPT to Satin- Brushed in the IAM.
There is no "Clear Override" in the Appearance pull down. I think I used to be able to click on color As Part in previous Inventor version but now it's different. The black areas are embossed features representing silkscreened graphics I need to preserve.
I tried to post the files in Inventor/Customer Files NG but the "new message" button was grayed out & not working.

Jun 17, 2013Just got upgraded to version 2013 by IT. Seeing that AD still can't maintain consistency from vers to vers. This version replaced 'Color Styles" with 'Appearances'. But, not just appearances, you have Document Appearances, the Autodesk Material Libray, the Autodesk Appearance Library, and the Inventor Material Library.
Why would the Material libraries show up when clicking the Appearances button when there is another button right beside it to get to Materials.
I mean, who is really going to use several dozen different types of flooring. And why is some metal in the metal category and some in default Category. And then some is in the metal Type and some in the generic Type. Is there really a need for two fields for organizing 'appearances' ? If this were a graphical design program I couls see some of this but it is a cad program. Seems like a case of trying to tailor one product to too many markets.
To the question. How do I unlock the Autodesk Appearance Library so I can get rid of all the junk I don't need and add some really obvious ones that are not there.
