I have been trying to simply insert points in a .csv file (PNEZD). The foints are taken SPC systems and elevations are in feet. I am using the imperial english template with no conversions. When i import the points from a file the points come in in the correct position but the elevation is in meters insted of feet!

I have a text file in PNEZD where D is XYZ. I have a description key for XYZ. I am importing this file into survey. When I import this file the points do not take the style of the description key, they take a default style from somewhere. What trick am I missing so that when I import points into survey they use the description key and therefore have the correct style.

New to Civil3D 2012.
I have a point file with <null> elevations. Somehow it won't let me import this .txt file (using pnezd comma delimited) into my .dwg. If I have elevations I have no problems. We tried creating a pned (comma delimited) and the <null> having an unused column and it didn't work.
I currently set up out civil 3d to do auto linework, which went really smooth.The first issue is with my points. When I go to Import Survey Data to insert the points and do auto linework, it doesn't insert the points in the right location (nothing is .86 off and easting is 1.36 off on every point). But if i were to insert the points by going to Points and clicking Import, they are right on? second, who do I get symbols to automatically come in when I insert the points? (power poles, hydrants, inlets, etc.).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am a C3D newbie using a clients template file and trying to figure out how to import our survey in PNEZD txt format. The template files I am working with are from WDOT and have many items set up including Point Styles, Label Styles, Description Key Sets, Figure Styles and Layers. I am having trouble figuring out exactly what each of these control/do what I need to create. I know that WDOT uses C3D for design and they translate survey from Cacie to C3D.
I have setup an Equipment Database and Linework Code Set that matches how we code things in the field (Begin=ST, Begin/End Curve= PC/PT, etc.). I am confused as to what exactly the Figure Prefix Database does and how it relates to the other Styles. I have put these in a network folder.
My first attempt using Import Survey Data with the latest WDOT .dwt file produces lines (survey figure) that are all Style=Standard and Layer=0. The points (Cogo Point) are all Style=P RW Circle Filled and Layer=P_MISC.
I also tried the same procedure on an earlier version (Dec. 2011) of the .dwt. This produced lines that had the correct Style and Layer. The points that were NOT shots taking along linework (such as a ground shot, manhole, sign) came in with the correct Style and Layer. What is wrong are the points (shots) that are along the lines (edge of sidewalk, storm sewer, edge of lane) have the Style=<default> (which shows as the P RW Circle Filled symbol) and Layer=P_MISC.
This is all overwhelming me. I feel that it is fairly close though, using the old template.I am not sure what would have changed between the two to produce such different outputs.

I remember in LDD you could insert points in an area, Is that possible in civil 3d. I have a small area of an big project that i want to review all the points. This project has 517000 points in it so it takes to long to insert all of the points.

I need to insert a georeferenced TIF file into 3d.
I tried MAPIIMAGE and the image came in the middle of no where. It does have a tfw file.
The settings of the drawing are set at US feet NAD 29 PA N
I can't get the map workspace to come up.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to insert an Mr Sid file using Data Connect. I am running 2011 C3D. When I try adding the file to the dwg, it tries to execute the query, but then I get an error "There was a problem adding data to map."
The folder containing the SID file has two other files...the .sdw file and the metadata file. Is there another file missing? Or is the SID file too large...it's 1.6GB.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi need to export 7 million points from a tin surface to text file with only NEZ in comma delimited format for Surfer 9 software. right now i have the civil 3d surface. but the export to csv stock reporting tool sucks. why the hell do you open the file and why leave an empty row between data points? so it's not usable.
also i have 12gb ram at work and it can't export surface points to autocad format ran out of memory. this is with surface display showing points and just the "dot" style so it's autocad points after export. i was originally planning on using "dataextraction" command in autocad to export to csv. worked on a small batch of file. so i think may work for the bigger file. but i would never know because i can't even get the points into autocad.
also yeah i would love to simplify the surface but it's so buggy that you asked it to remove 80% of the points it only remove 100k points at most out of 7 million. so not usable.
last resort is i can program something in vb.net but not much motivation on doing so.
I have just installed C3D 2012 and when I show the menu bar, the only choice is Express which used to be the last tool in previous versions. What happened to File - Edit - View - Insert - Format, etc in the menu bar? I need to access them.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy surveyor gave me a topo survey done in no particular coordinate system. He set up his total station on a PK nail and gave it a coordiante of (5000, 5000, 100). I used this survey to generate a surface.
I also have a site survey of the same site, done in state plane coordinate system. the two surveys have mulitple common points; pk nails, iron pins ect.
What i need to do is move the points for the topo survey over to the survey that is in state plane. A simple move command will not do this.
How do i go about moving these points to thier correct location without having to manually edit the .txt file?
I am trying to utilize Trimble's ability to export Points to an XML file. The XML file contains some additional Attribute data. I have created the new Point UDP's and also Created a new Point File Format. Here lies the Problem, when I go to the Insert Tab in the Ribbon and pick import from XML. It gives me no choices to select a Point File Format? It just imports the file with just PNEZD data only, and not my additional Attributes.

I'm very new to Civil 3D.I've been given original topography in a .dwg file and a .csv file of the same topography after some dirt work.My problem is when I import the .csv file the points don't overlay the original topography.
What I have done is added the .csv points to the original topography .dwg with the "Points From File" option.
I write a program, this program needs to insert some standard illustrations. I made these standard illustrations into different blocks. And I store these blocks in a dwg file. Everytime I need to insert some illustrations, I just click the mouse on the current drawing, I want the illustration inserted. These means the following points:
(1) Import the blocks to the current drawing, if the blocks have already been imported, then do nothing.
(2) Specify the insert point by clicking the mouse, and I want the block's insert point to coincide with the mouse clicking point.
I am trying to put something together that will allow a user to select objects in AutoCAD and then place a block at all the selected points.
Below I have pasted the code that I have so far, but have not been able to test this to see what happens because the Dim ofd part is giving me an error that I have not been able to figure out.

I have a large surface (over 1.5 million points and 20 000hectares)
I need to get a point file .csv from the TIN to be able to use it in another program.
-so i've extracted the points from my surface, but they are Autocad points.
-next step is to convert them to civil 3d points.
-I can not select them all when converting them or my computer crashes.
-so i select about 25 000 at a time, the converting takes roughly 10 minutes.
and i have over 1.5 million points to do.
how can i speed this up.
will more ram useful?
I have recieved a file with many points and would like to convert them into COGO points in Civil 3D. The problem is; I would like to keep the hole ID's as I convert, I've made a few conversions and lose the hole ID every time (not showing in Name or Description). Is there a seting I am missing to keep these? My aim to to organize the COGO points in different point groups.

So, I'm concerned that when I enter my as built survey points, that even if I put them into their own group, that the original surface will still look at them and just rebuild to my asbuilt data, effectively cancel out the purpose of the asbuilt survey. Will this happen?
I want to take the original points and put them into a group of their own, but I don't know if that will affect anything or not? I have several wetlands already designed on that surface with volume calcs already done too.
What should I do?
So i have a simple block of basically a point. i also have alot of points to input. I know i can attribute the block with promts such as levels or dates etc.. but is there a way to make the block do this by itself when level is already entered? also is there a way to insert multiple block (like the points) using excel concatenate function? or can i input the points and have date and level shown in a text form?

I have a dynamic block that I would like to insert via a lisp routine. When the routine is run from my menu I would like to select two points on the drawing area. Then I would like my dynamic block to be inserted at one of the points I selected and then I would like a specific "point" of my block to be stretched to the other point that I selected. I was wondering if this is possible with LISP? I have my old LISP program I wrote that draws a leader and then inserts my block but that was before I started working with dynamic blocks.

wld1r.dwg is my current block. It has some dynamic properties already. But I'm trying to add new properties that can be seen in my working test drawing wld1r-new.dwg
When using my code with "wld1r.dwg" you can see how everything behaves right now. Then open "wld1r-new.dwg" and note that the insertion point and a stretch point my default are in the same spot. Work with the two stretch points and look at how the block reacts.
When I change a section to static mode, I would like to add new section points or erase section points.
