When publishing a drawing set, I have a printer set up which creates KIP plotfiles. In LDD 2007, there was no issues. After upgrading to Civil3D 2013, when publishing to plotfiles, all sheets are merged into 1 plotfile, which is unusable.Seems like a bug in the publishing component. Publishing to PDF or DWF gives the option of merging all files or creating individual files.

I am having issues with the publishing command.
When I plot a single tab the frozen layers in the viewport do not plot, which is correct. But when I publish the same tabs the frozen layers in the viewports all plot.
noticed that the file size of pdf's created using the publish command in C3D 2014 are much larger than files created using 2013? I'm talking twice the size in some cases. I've gone through the settings and found no differences, but there must be something I'm missing. When I use the plot command on a single layout, the file sizes are similar, so there must be something in the publish command.

I've been fiddling with settings and layer orders for a while now, but I still get issues!
Everytime I export a PSD from my Illustrator CS5 file, it wants to merge the last few layers together! If you look at the pics, there is nothing special, or different about the layers that get merged (the last 3 in the layer order on the pics). I've tried even putting a blank layer in between to see if it would just merge that, but then it'll merge the last 3 layers, along with any blank spacers I've put in!
shouldn't sheets marked as "exclude from count" not be counted?
I tried this in both 2013 and 2012 to see if maybe AutoDesk broke it, but it doesn't work in either one. This is easily reproducible for me, a file shouldn't be necessary. Just open up (or create) a multi sheet drawing. Go to edit sheet on one or two of them and check the "exclude form count" box. Now create a new iLogic rule and put the following line into it:

I'm trying to incorporate in my new workplace the Sheet Set in our plan production.
But one of the powerfull thing of the SSM is to publish multiple (or single) sheets at a time.
Well, i tryed it since a few months in and out publishing via the style sheet on the sheet set template i'm building and it doesn't print.
The publishing icon in the status bar of civil 3d 2012 keeps on going for ever !!! (Even when i cancel the job, it doesn't stop the icone, like it's jamed)
Btw, even if i pass by a drawing that isnt in the SSM and choose several layouts to publish it does the same thing too.
I use to do this on a 2008 version of Autocad.

When publishing a sheet set some of my annotation labels are not showing up. If I open the sheet, they are there, set to print and everything is correct. If I print just that sheet, everything is fine. Only happens in publish. It's almost like the publish command isn't giving the drawing enough time to open and load everything before printing.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have tried to bring in the 3d block for a fire hydrant, exploded it and combined as 1 solid, added connection point. When using the Civil 3D 2013 "publishpartcontent" command it ask me to save the .content file but when creating the png it outputs an error in the command line. When I go to bring in the content in the catalog edditor I recieve an error saying .content file units do not match catalog. I have tried bring the part into both metric and imperial catalogs and recieve the same error. I also tried creating just a cylinder soli in a new draiwing and publishing the content file, I still recieve the error when it tries to create the .png but when I load it into the catalog it works. Is there any way to set the units of the solid within civil 3d before creating the .content file.

I have a large scale industrial project with multiple road profiles and sections sheets. I find that when I plot my drawings manually by opening the drawing everything comes out fine. But when I publish the drawings manually or thru Sheet Set Manager, it shifts my vertical curve labels on my profiles down, which then conflicts with the profile linework (see attached image). Unfortunately manually plotting these drawings is not an option. Because of the amount of information in each drawing it takes 3-4 mins to open and we have 200+ drawings in a single set of drawings, which we have multiple sets of drawings for the project.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI created plan and profile sheets using the P&P tools. Then I created a new drawing and attached (XREF) the dwg with the viewframes in it. Then I set the viewframe layer to Plot instead of non-plot and I changed the color so that it would be heavy (we use CTB).
Then when I went to my PSPACE layout to try and plot, the viewframes are NOT there. The layer IS turned on, because there's a PLINE that I drew on that layer and it DOES show up. When in modelspace, the viewframes are there and the color did change as expected.
So why do they disappear when I'm on the layout tab?
The goal is to create a plottable sheet that identifies where each sheet is (I want to point to each viewframe and lable them C-101, C-102 etc).
I am creating P&P sheets for my road. I created view frames, and when I got to create sheets, I pick "all layouts in new drawing". I go to open the new drawing up, but all that shows up/tranfers is the profile and alignment, nothing else comes over ( proposed linework, existing linework, etc.)??????
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am creating plan sheets and using the sheet creation tool. The plan sheets I am looking to make have stacked view, similar to a plan and profile sheet, only they have the horizontal alignment in both views.
I have a template set up with two viewports, but when I try to create the sheets it puts the same view frame in both of the viewports. Is there any way to set this template up so that I can have, lets say, STA 100+00 - 110+00 in the top viewport and then STA 110+00 - 120+00 in the bottom viewport. I understand that I can move the viewports once they are created, but I would rather have that done automatically. I am not sure if what I want done is possible with Civil 3D.
So I had to jump into the middle of a project. The Viewframes were already created but when I go to the plan and profile sheets for the viewframes the profile is not showing and I'm not sure how to choose the correct profile and display it in the corresponding plan and profile sheet.

My sections look fine in model space and my template comes in in paper space with my template and the proper viewport (viewport scale is 1:200). My annotation scale in model space is 1:250 and everything looks fine. My problem is, in paper space, the sections themselves looks fine but the annotation is way out to lunch (see attachment). I've tried playing with the scales but can't seem to find a solution.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using AutoCAD Civil 3d 2012. I have succesfully created a View Frame Group (VFG) from an alignment and then created Plan Profile sheets from that View Frame group. I did create the sheets in a separate file from the View Frame group (that is an option when you create the sheets). It appears that if I change a View Frame using the grips, the corresponding sheet viewport doesn't change based on the edits to the view frame. I must manually update the sheet plan viewport to align with the edited location of the view frame. Is there a way AutoCAD will do this automatically or does it just not do that? Do I have to create the whole sheet set again or can I just recreate that one sheet? I don't want to do that since create the sheet will create a new profile view.

Is there a way to reproduce this without having View Frames and using the Create Sheets? In other words, I a manually creating these plan sheets and I wonder if there is a better way of masking than using wipeout on the sheet tabs.

After I create cross section sheets (Output---> generate cross section), the generated sections do not fit in the sheet exactly. In fact, the generated layouts do not cover the sections correctly, and some sections fall outside the created sheet.
It should be noted that I use the "ISO A1 Section 1 to 500" layout which is installed on the default pass of C3D (template folder), and the scale of "view section style" is set to 1/500. I tried the scale of the drawing (toolspace window---> setting tab---> rigth click on the name of drawing and click edit drawing setting) with 1/500, however the problem was not solved.
Another important issue is that the section views in the "Model space" are shown correctly, but my problem is in the layout space after generating cross sections.
I am working in Civil 3d 2012 and creating multiple view cross sections. I have my sheet template created and when I create the cross sections, it pulls them to the top corner of the sheet, off the grid. I can not figure out where the setting is to adjust the offset on the sheet.

is there a way to renumber sheets in the sheet set manager? i've got over 100 sheets and i need to insert some new sheets in the middle. there wasn't a way in 2009 but i was hoping for something in 2012. it seems like something that would be included by now.

We have one template that we use for starting all our drawings. This contains all of our layers, layer filters and most commonly used blocks.
Then we have a template file called "Titleblocks" -- this contains one layout for each different size border as well as vport definitions for Plan, Profile or P&P.
When I used the C3D P&P tool to create my sheets, it of course used the Titleblocks template which means that the filters are lost. Is there a relatively simple way to add those filters to my sheets? Each sheet is a layout in a separate dwg file.
I'm using the Plan Production feature of Civil3D 2012 (x64). Here's my scenario:
I have a base file with all company style and layer standards. I have an alignment and profile in this base file, which I am creating sheets for (plan and profile, same sheet). I create my VFG and generate the sheets from this base file. My sheet template creation .dwt file only has a couple layers in it (nice and clean).
Is it normal behavior for the sheet files being created to have ALL the company layers and styles associated with the base drawing where the VFG and sheets were created from? I would think only the layers/styles used for the alignment, profile, and profile view would be transferred to each sheet.
I have a low pressure sewer system that runs along a road side but is not always parallel to the road. I'm using hte centerline of the road for my alignment. What I need to do is have a profile of the existing ground above the centerline of the pressure pipes show in the plan/profile sheets. I do not need a profile of the roadway.
I'm currently using feature lines to accomplish this and that works fine in the main drawing, however, the profiles I create there don't transfer to the plan/profile sheets when I create them. The only way I have found so far to get thoe profiles to show in the plan/profile sheets is to create the feature lines in the plan/profile drawing and project those lines to my profile view. This is a fairly large system so I will have numerous plan/profile sheets. Creating the feature lines and profiles in the individual sheets is fairly time consuming.
I'm currently using Civil 3D 2012. I realize that with the addition of pressure pipe networks in 2013 might very well give me the tools I need but I'm at a point in this project, and our office, where switching to 2013 isn't really an option yet. However, if that is my answer then I will have to consider that.
Using the Best Practices, different components in their own DWG files, all brought together in a production sheet where I can place the labeling for that sheet. I can add labels for Surfaces, Alignments, Pipe networks, through the Xref(s). Evidently this was not extended to Intersection Objects.
What I'm doing now is creating a new Intersection at each street intersection just so I can get a label which shows the station of each alignment at the intersection. Is there a better way to do this?
I have some geotextile sheets of specific dimensions (that's 45mx5m) and a surface (not a regular one) with grades ranging from 3.5% up to 34%.I would like to "fit" those sheets on the surface (which should overlap one another by .30m (see attached image)) but not project them, (that's why I don't believe "drape" is the proper word).
Meaning that since the 45m dimension is facing up/down slope, the length should be less in projection (see attached image) and that should be calculated automatically since the surface is a very irregular on (not like the attached dwg which is included as an example).
How to manage adding titleblocks to sheets. On my last few projects I had x-ref'd in a titleblock which contained all of the generic info that was consistent throughout the whole sheet set. Then I created a block that I inserted into each sheet that I could edit and make sheet specific.
While this works, once you have insertion points correct, I was thinking about instead making the generic part of the titleblock a block also. My concern is that as I have revisions, the generic block that I would update would not "ripple" through the whole set quite like it did when I was x-refing it in.

I'm having an intermittent issue with my publish command. So far the pattern seems to be on drawings with a larger number of sheets (last one was 15, this one is 7). When I get the publish dialog box, I'll set the number of copies to however many I need but it ends up only printing one set. It doesn't happen every time. Just with these two drawings so far. They have nothing to do with each other and haven't shared any data. The only similiarity is that they're both older projects that were started some years ago on previous CAD versions.

View 4 Replies View RelatedC3D2012. We have a master C3D template that includes a number of point filters (let say 20 of them) and a number of layouts (again, let say 20 of them) to accommodate our two sheet sizes.
Here is the issue that I am running into, when the Plan Production tools use a layout to create plan and profile sheets from the same master template that is used to initially create the file, the whole process will duplicate each point group 150 times for every group (see attached). So, what I ended up with is 20 point groups X 150. In my example, I ended up with 3000 duplicate point groups.
The end result is a file that is somewhat unusable do to the number of point groups. The other issue is now that all of these point groups are in the file you are unable to delete them all at once without "crashing" C3D. So you are left to deleting a handful at time. It is also best if you turn UNDO off while you do it.
I have been able to duplicate this in multiple files; however, from the same master template. As a test I did create separate templates (which are pretty bare bones) for the plan production and all works well. Therefore, there is either an issue with C3D and Plan Production and point groups or it is our template.
I would really like to nail down (as best I can) what is generating the 150 duplicates/ point group name to see if there is a way "around" this.
Currently, I am unable to share the template, but it shouldn't be too difficult to re-create. Take any template, add some point groups to, add a plan and profile sheet to one of the layouts, create a new file from this template, finally create plan and profile sheets from the layout in the very same template.
