AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Menu Keystroke Shortcuts Gone

Apr 22, 2013

Out of the blue today, my OSNAP shortcuts disappeared.  Whenever I'd bring up the menu, I could not hit the E key on the keyboard for Endpoint or any other shortcut keystroke.  Upon more research, this applied to all menus.  Turns out this is not an Autodesk issue but a Windows setting.  Here's how to restore if you encounter this as well.

1. Hit the Windows + U keys to bring up the Ease of Accees Center

2. Click on "Make the keyboard easier to use

3. Check Underline keyboard shortcuts and access keys

Illustrator :: CS5 Keyboard Shortcuts Menu Is Gone?

Aug 9, 2013

So, after installing CS5 in 2009, it's now 2013, and my keyboard shortcuts are gone. Well. All of the useful ones such as copy, paste, new, open, etc. Save for Web is still working, and a handful of commands I don't use are working, but not the ones I use all the time. I look in the menus for the commands for copy and group and such, but there's no shortcut assigned. And I've been looking online how to fix this, but everyone is saying go into Edit>Keyboard Shortcuts and voila. The only problem, is my Edit menu doesn't have a Keyboard Shortcuts option, and I can't figure out why.

GIMP :: Disabling Keyboard Menu Shortcuts (2012)

Dec 2, 2012

A new feature in 2.8 appears to be keyboard accelerators (shortcuts) forthe pull-down menus. For example, Alt-S displays the Select menu, Alt-Wthe Windows menu, etc.

I have already assigned these key-combinations to other functions in thekeyboard shortcuts menu, but the default menubar assignments are takingprecedence.

How can I disable these menu accelerators so that I can regain the use ofthe Alt-[ESVILCTRWH] sequences?

Maybe there should be a toggle on the Configure Keyboard Shortcuts menu tohandle this. And certainly, if you reassign these keystrokes in the menu, their original function should be disabled.

Lightroom :: How To Use Keystrokes Or Shortcuts To Toggle Between Menu Items At Top Of Screen

May 14, 2012

I'm taking a photography class and we're getting a quick lesson in using Lightroom, working on Macs. I'm never used the program before and I use a PC so I'm not familiar with Mac either.

I'm catching on pretty quick, but Im wondering, is there a way to use keystrokes or shortcuts to toggle between the menu items at the top of the screen. The assistants in the class said that on a Mac you can access these menu items with the mouse, but in a PC you use the Alt + a letter and can get to the sub-items with either letters or the arrow keys.

AutoCAD LT :: How To Fix A Keystroke To Just One Command

Sep 22, 2011

I am testing the LT 2012 version in Windows. I want to use the pan command which used to be a easily visible button, one click. In 2012 I have to go to View>Pan to acess the button, 2 clicks, If I type P I get a popup menu with every command starting with a P, with Pan at the top, click on Pan, 2 clicks again.

So, can I move the Pan button to the Home tab to make it simpler? Can I edit something so when I type P it knows I mean Pan and don't have to make another choice?

This is really slowing down my process and work flow, it's like stutter! Used to be a seamless flow of click, click, click. Now it is click, pause, search, click, pause, search, click.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Redirecting Data Shortcuts

Mar 4, 2013

Is it possible to redirect a data shortcut?

I have a large model containing 40km of pipeline. The pipe network and alignment were then brought into separate drawing via data shortcuts where the sheet layouts and long sections were generated.

The pipeline is now under construction and we need to compile the as-built drawings as the pipeline is constructed. I want to make a copy of the model containing the pipe network and alignment, then update that to reflect the as-built information.

I also want to copy the drawings (containing the layouts and long sections), but these would still reference the model used to generate the construction drawings.

Is it possible to redirect these data shortcuts?

(Using Civil3D 2011) - we could upgrade to 2012 if required.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Duplicate Data Shortcuts

Jul 30, 2013

I had a few problems moving a project from 2012 to 2014. After a couple of tries I got everything set except the main alignment. When I originally used the Data Shortcut Editor to change the path of the shortcuts. I noticed that most of the paths were mostly UNC paths. So I replaced them with the current UNC path.

Now when trying to fix the one shortcut I've noticed that there is now a duplicate of the UNC path shortcut and one using the pathed network drive. So there is now a total of 3 references for each shortcut. I don't know yet if this is part of the problem but it doesn't look like it's a good thing.

My first inclination would be to delete all but the newest XML file for each reference.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Data Shortcuts Not Updating Properly?

May 22, 2013

So I've got a customer who's upgraded drawings from a previous version of Civil 3D to Civil 3D 2013. One drawing contains data shortcuts to pipe networks, alignments, and surfaces. At the drawing open the pipe networks are updated, but none of the other data shortcuts are. Removing the pipe network data shortcuts allows the other data shortcuts to be loaded normally. Using SYNCHRONIZEREFERENCES updates all of the data shortcuts normally in the darwing. So I strongly suspect the pipe networks are the cause of the issue. Opening a new drawing and creating a data shortcut doesn't exhibit the same issues. Also WBlocking the trouble drawing doesn't work either.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Finding Data Shortcuts Folder?

Jul 16, 2012

I'm running Civil 3d 2010

I have opened a drawing created by someone else and see that it is loaded with data shortcuts and they all seem to be working properly and displaying fine. The problem is that I would like to add some more  shortcuts to the project yet I cannot find the folder where they are located on our server. I have opened up source drawings for every one of them and there are no data shortcut folders located in the same path as the source drawings nor in my project file. They have been stored miscellaneously somewhere on my server. I have tried searching by name (*.xml) for the data shortcuts on my server but the names are too generic and I get to many hits to locate the one I need. Is there any way to list a data reference and the program tell you the folder where it is getting it from?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Multiple Data Shortcuts For Same Alignment?

Jan 25, 2011

For some reason when I try to "Create Reference" to bring in my Alignment, Finished Ground and Existing Ground I get three different alignment data shortcuts instead of them grouping into one. I am trying to find out where in my workflow this all went wrong.

I have a .dwg that just has my alignment files in it. Then I make a new drawing and data shortcut in those alignments and Surface. I make my profiles and then create the data shortcuts for those. I start a New drawing and try to reference the alignment and profile and I get duplicated that aren't grouped. If you take a look at the two .bmp's you can see what happens.

The Purple highlighted area is how I want it to show up and that one worked just fine. Same work flow. The yellow is what is giving me a hard time.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Data Shortcuts Not Working With Dropbox?

I have been using Dropbox to collaborate with a remote office.  The problem we ran into was that for some reason, data references don't work when a drawing is reopened.  In other words, when I open a drawing, none of the objects I dref'd into the drawing showed up.  In the Toolspace, the objects appear just fine (i.e. no broken reference indications). If I manually synchronize the object, then it shows up int he drawings.  If I save and then reopen, the reference is gone again.  I have seen some info about Projectwise and the problems with dref's when using that program

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Data Shortcuts - Updating Due To Corrupt File?

Jan 6, 2014

I’ve recreated and replaced a corrupt drawing, which contained surfaces that were data referenced into multiple files. Is there a way to update the data shortcuts, so other drawings referencing the surfaces are unaffected? I’ve tried moving the corrupt drawing to an archived folder and naming the new drawing and surfaces to match the old. However, I’m not able to repair the broken shortcuts in the other drawings. The surfaces are referenced in a large construction plan set that includes sections, profiles, and numerous labels based on the surfaces – it will be very time consuming to create a new reference in each drawing.

(I'm using Civil 3D 2013.)

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Creating Additional Points And Data Shortcuts

I have a Drawing "B" that is the source drawing containing the Design alignment and profile with references to the data in Drawing "A" such as the surface.

If I create additional points for survey stakeout purposes within Drawing "B", will it automatically be included in the survey database in Drawing "A" along with all the other points or is there some procedure in order for me to continue adding additional points into the database from Drawing "B" or any other drawing that references Drawing "A"?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Profile Data Shortcuts Not Organizing Properly

Oct 26, 2012

I am using Civil 3D 201...When creating profile data shortcuts, the tree view in tool space incorrectly associates the profiles with several alignments.  This appears to be due to multiple alignments having the same object ID.  This happens when importing alignments from LandXML (a procedure we use to move alignments from one project to another) into a template after inserting exactly the same xrefs into each new alignment drawing.

The workaround appears to be copying the alignment into a different site, deleting the original alignment, then moving the new alignment back to the original site.  Obviously, this changes the object ID so it is more likely to be unique.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Data Shortcuts And Moving Projects To New Server

Jan 22, 2013

Moving C3D projects to a new server, specifically regarding data shortcuts?

For example, current projects live in: \serversharexxxproj_number

Soon, that path will be \A_new_server\shareBproj_numberdesign

Upon internal inspection, the data shortcuts are storing the full path and a relative path. Based on our initial tests, C3D is resolving the path to the source drawing using the relative path, even though the "full path" stored in the data shortcut is invalid.

I don't think we will need to use the "Data ShortCuts Editor" to fix the paths as long as the relative directory structure remains intact.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Data Shortcuts With Profile Copied And Raised

Apr 9, 2012

1. Create or use a surface.

2. Create or use an alignment within that surface boundary.

3. Create or use a Surface Profile along that alignment from that surface.

4. Make that surface profile Static instead of Dynamic.

5. Copy that Surface Profile to a Layout Profile.

6. Copy that Layout profile and Raise all VPIs in that profile by 0.25 ft (3 inches).

7. Create data shortcuts for that surface, alignment, profiles.

8. In a new drawing, reference those Data Shortcuts: surface, alignment, all 3 profiles.

Problem:  The Reference to the profile that I raised by 3 inches doesn't reference in Raised.  I had to re-create all the profiles in my new drawing to get the raised profile.

I can attach my drawing in which my surface, alignments, profiles reside - where data shortcuts were created, my _Shortcuts folder, and the 2nd drawing.

I am trying to share the surface, multiple alignments, all the profiles with my CAD designer and other team members via Data Shortcuts and need for them to reference in correctly.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Existing Ground Surface And Data Shortcuts?

Mar 27, 2012

I have a rather large project for a roadway reconstruction.  Therefore, the existing utilities are in a separate drawing and the existing ground surface model is in a separate drawing.  All the above surface items (curb and gutter, asphalt, concrete, signs, sidewalks, landscaping, etc..) are in the master drawing.  I then xref'd in my utility drawing and though I would use data shortcuts for my existing ground surface drawing.  I took the surveyed triangles (3d faces) from our raw survey drawing and copied them into my surface drawing, created a surface from the triangles, created a boundary and such.  So far everything is good.  I created the working folder for the data shortcuts for this project and saved the drawing and closed it.  I went into my master drawing and clicked on "Create Reference".  I did not promote.  The reference came though and everything is fine.  Now I want to add contour labels in my surface drawing which I did but they do not show up in my master drawing but the contours themselves do.  Do I have to promote this drawing into my master drawing so I can create the contour labels in my master drawing?  I guess that is fine but the issue is we have small areas of topo that will be added as needed down the road.  If I promote the surface drawing into my master drawing then when I add topo to the surface drawing, it wont update in my master drawing.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Data Shortcuts / Alignments And Proposed Profiles

Sep 5, 2012

I created DRefs to an Alignment plus the Existing and Proposed Profiles. I ended up with 3 alignments with one profile attached to each of the second and third alignment. The second and third alignments are name as <Alignmentname> (2) and <Alignmentname> (3). I deleted them an just brought in the profiles but they each created a new alignment.

I searched the board and Google. What I found was that it's recommended to keep the profiles in the drawing in which the alignment was created. I usually do that. But I've been working at a 1:1000 scale and now the Engineer wants the profiles plotted at 1:500. I don't like changing the scale in the drawing so I thought I'd created a new drawing with that scale. It doesn't look like I can do that now.
