creating pipetrench1 on my surface.
Currently, I wanna make an alignment from a 16-inch pipe, which will then be positioned inside a trench.
I have tried several times to generate the corridor, but turned out failing.
Im guessing that i had inserted some parameters wrongly.

I'm trying to create a trench with pipe corridor along the alignment.
What I've did:
-create an alignment;
-create a pipe nework based on my alignment;
-then I made a profile with my pipe network and draw profile;
-create an assembley;
-create a corridor with one baseline.
When I've checked the corridor I found some weird spotes that are linked to zero elevation.
I've created another alignment from daylight of my corridor, but it doesn't worked.
Where mistake is???

Is there a way to draw center line of a pipe, trench etc.. and when drawn the line apply the width-height-depth or circumference?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to create a sub-set surface from my main surface. not sure what the vernacular is for a "subset surface" in c3d but i do have a feature line that bouinds the desired area, but that is as far as i can solve.
i did try creating a new surface - pasted the main surface in the edit definition, then deleted triangles until the boundary alighned wiht my featureline. This seemed to work, but when i view the properties of the smaller subset suface, it shows a mimum and maximum elevation that is incorrect.
Civil 3D data shortcuts.
So I first created a drawing which included a surface called "CONTOURS" and an existing sewer pipe network. I then created a data shortcut of the existing sewer network and started a new drawing with a proposed sewer pipe network.
When I received better contour data, I created a new "10FT EXIST CONTOURS" surface in the existing sewer drawing and switched the reference surface for the existing sewer structures and pipes to the new "10FT EXIST CONTOURS" surface. And of course I deleted the old "CONTOURS" surface because I no longer needed it.
Now, the part that makes me want to pull all my hair out! When I open the proposed sewer drawing I get all the error messages that "Reference surface 'CONTOURS' not found in reference drawing" for all 22 of the existing sewer structures.
I've tried deleted the existing sewer network in the proposed sewer drawing and recreating the data shortcut but nothing makes the errors go away. Is there any other way the existing sewer structures could be referencing the deleted surface that I have not thought about? How to get the error messages to clear?
I create surface, then i create alignement of pipe, pipe profile and assembly of the trench.
Then i created a corridor of the trench. Now i can not found out the way how to calculate the volume of the excavation
for the trench. i think that i should create a surface from the corridor of trench.
Another collaboration question so you have a compressed design program and want the drainage to be designed while the finshed surface is yet to be completed.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to change the reference surface for a pipe network with existing pipes and structures. however the changes will only affect new objects, I have to manually change the others one by one. Even with the vista open I can select multiple structures, but when I click in the reference surface column of one of the selected structures, all the others are deselected.

I can go thru one by one and pick "structure properties" and change the surface. I did change the surface under the network options, but they all still reference the old surface.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have designed a pipe network in Civil 3D 2013, first I created a rule set for both structures and pipes, then I created a parts list, next I built my network.
Where more than two pipes connected to one structure, I found 'applyrules' couldn't align everything appropriately, so I had to manually amend the levels in 3D to ensure the pipes connected correctly (soffit to soffit / top invert to top invert).
My problem is that after doing all this, the surface model has been amended! I have changed the reference surface in the network properties and in the vista. The rim height of my structures seems to have been adjusted in the most part but my pipes have not.
In areas where the surface has gone down, my minimum cover is violated. Is there a way to move the pipes back down to minimum cover, without using 'applyrules', as using that command would change the gradients to the minimum, some gradients have changed during my manual adjustments.
Furthermore, where the surface model has reduced in level significantly, my pipes are now above the surface and the manhole has stayed there too.
I am starting a Job in 2013 for the first time. Upgrade form 2011 C3D. The pipe structures are no longer updating when the surface updates. It will obtain an elevation from the surface when the structure is created but when I change the surface or even set the structure to a new surface, the Top of Casting will not update. Any thoughts as to whether or not this is a 2013 issue or if there is a new setting I need to change? This worked perfectly in 2011. I didn't use 2012.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create a profile of a pipe. I have elevation data for the pipe and natural ground I've created a surface from the natural ground then I created and alignment. Next I created a profile when the profile was completed I got broken lines and spikes for my pipe not a polyline that followed the natural ground. I'm at a loss as to how I could fix this and I'm very new to AutoCADD I'm a GIS person.

I am working on creating an existing pipe network (stormwater) from objects, invert data, size, type and length given. M
My question is how do I know where the start and end is and if I need to create more than one network for my project. I have a current project location and I am assuming I am to create a network for the entire location?

I'm looking for a way to simply get a flowline elevation at some random point along a pipe (Network) in plan view without having to go through the trouble of "drawing Parts in Profile".
I have successfully added invert elevations at the ends of the pipe, but that's not what I'm looking to do & "ID" command shows the "Z" elevation for pipes in pipe networks to be "0".
If I change a point or link code in one of my subassemblies, is there a way I can build my top surface using those?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn the Surfaces Tutorials: Exercise 1: "Creating a TIN Surface". The first instruction is to click "NEW", which I did. I selected "Surfaces.dwt per instructions and clicked open. I have executed these steps a number of times to be sure I am doing what the instructions say. But, every time the same thing happens. "Drawing2.dwg" opens instead of "Surfaces.dwt". I also make sure the file type is set to dwt.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a grid survey of points and I've entered these points into Civil 3D. Now what I want to do is use these points to create a surface so that I can create a slope analysis of the surveyed area. My problem is that I can't get the points into a point group.
I have a generic grid (15 x 15) of points set up and I've only used a portion of them (defined by the dimensions of the site). So I want to create a surface that includes all of the points that aren't set at an elevation of 0.
I am trying to create a surface from a corridor. I have a sub-assembly attached, which I believe is working correctly. I managed to create the empty surface and when I try to add surface data nothing seems to happen. I keep changing the specified code to Base which is my finished gravel structure and hit the + but again nothing seems to happen.
Ultimately I am trying to determine a volume between my corridor and original topo.
I can't seem to create a planar surface that shows up in the tool space as a TIN.
Some background, I have a TIN of a pile of dirt that I created from a point cloud (it shows up in the toolspace under the surface section). I also have a plane that intersects that dirt pile which indicates ground level. I want to be able to calculate the volume of the dirt pile by creating a volume TIN with the ground plane and pile TIN, but the ground plane does not show up in the toolspace under the surface section so I can't use it to create a volume TIN. I created the plane with the planar button in the ribbon and manually lined it up with the pile.
How can I convert this plane that is clearly in my project but not in the list of surfaces in the toolspace into a TIN to use in a volume TIN?
I'm running Civil 3d 2013 and you'll probably have to explain things like I'm 5 because I'm not familiar with the interface yet.
I have a project that I need to map the terrain as a tin solid so that I can do some cut and fill analysis. I have downloaded a orthographic and elevation data from the USGS website. I cannot get AutoCAD civil 3d to create the contours properly.
My current workflow is: use mapwspace to bring up the task pane. Connect to the geotiff image in the 1-153383539 folder. Then I try to create the contours and the option is greyed out.
This is the first time I have imported a .dgn file into Civil. The drawing contains contours lines with Z elevation data. When I create a surface using this geometry (polylines + some lines) the surface seems to be scaled in the Z axis by 12.
For example pline (from dgn) is at elevation 46' but the Civil3D surface is 552'
I assume this is a setting in the Surfaces dialog box, but I cannot find it.
Also the elevation field in Properties from the dgn contours is weird. For example, in one area the (pline) contours display -28', 26', -24', -22', -20', -18' in Properties but Civil3D interprets this as a downward slope - which is the actual field conditions. I don't understand the conversion going on here.
The geometry of the pline and contours generated from the surface seem to line up in a side or isometric view (see attachment).
Been chatting with an architect in my office, and he was asking me if we could make our TIN surfaces smooth. I cannot find a way, would it take a 3rd party program? He wants it like the image i attached. How to achieve this with a TIN surface?

I have two surfaces created lets call them Surface A and Surface B.
They have different elevations in different areas, sometimes Surface A is below Surface B and other times Surface B is below surface A.
Is there a way to easily create a Surface C which is a combo of Surfaces A and B taking which ever surface is lower?
I´m having problem with creating stl file from surface. I need to import stl in another program for rockfalls.
I have create surface from contours, then extract faces, extrude them, union and I got solid..
I have export solid like stl file... But in another program my surface is not smooth, like somethning went wrong while exporting stl, because in autocad civil 3D 2012 everything looks good.
I have found out how I can increase facetres to 10, but It has not affect to my stl file. If there is some another parameter for better resolution of stl files?
They send me a file that has polylines as contours and when I try to do the surface adding contours an error appears saying that the breaklines couldn't be added because they crossed a breakline, I don't understand why.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create grading slope from a Feature line that was created at a constant elevation of 609m. I want to create a slope of 3:1 from the feature line to a surface I created. I recall in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011 that you could create a slope directly to a surface. Is there a way of doing that in 2014 or did I simply forget a step when I created my Grading Groups?
I created the grading group using the Grading Creation Tool Pallet and selecting Set Grading Group. Then I set my target surface to the one I want to grade towards. I thought all I had to do than was go to Create Grading select the direction of grading and the slope. I thought the slope would continue to the target surface but it asked for a distance for grade that would throw off any volumes I want to pull off.
Did I have to create a new surface for my Pad at 609m than grade from that and how would I make sure my slope continues till it contacting the surface I want to target?
I have drawing giving to us for a senior design project. I'm trying to create a surface to so that I can analyze cut/fill. Not sure if what i'm doing is right or wrong, I've never used civil 3d. But i'm getting break-line errors whenever i'm trying to create the surface from the contour lines.
