If I manually change it to a child style and then check the values, they are the same as what I'm trying to set them to. If you use a "parent" style then these both work. Am I doing something wrong or this another limitation?

Mar 1, 2012We recently updated our servers and I am having trouble accessing files through Autocad. For example, if I try to open a drawing or attach an xref I select the drive and can see the folders in it but can not open any. I have no problem opening these folders through windows explorer so I do not think it is a permission issue. I am the only one in the office running 64bit on windows 7 (everyone else is on xp) We are using Civil 3D 2010.

Mar 16, 2012I'm upgrading some older COM based code to work in VB.Net with Civil 3D 2012. The app iterates through all of the Alignment objects, finding the ones with SuperEleveation, and places the names in a listbox. The user can select one or more of the alignments from the list to have the SuperElevation slope values modified.
The problem I am having is when I get the alignment object to update I get an execption that the object is locked. It's probably something simple but I'm at a loss to where to go next.Here as a brief code snippet:

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Created Project - No Access To The Figure Properties
Mar 7, 2013Recently I upgraded to 2013 and I been having some issues with my survey DB, first of all I created a base data shortcuts project template folder with all my folders and a default Survey DB.
once I create my project, and import points to the default DB, I have no access to the Figure Properties. Is this feature, that worked in 11 & 12 now broken in 13? I have gone into the setting and copied a new files to the folder several times, to no avail, and there are no other versions of C3D on this machine.
So now that I have my points in the drawing, I go to translate them to my survey, generally I will utilize line in the drawing between field data, and platted data to translate and rotate to the platted lot or lots and the work from there on any calcs or changes. However, when my OSNAP toolbar is docked and locked and I go to select a point line the midpoint, I have no access to the OSNAPS. This also, worked in 11 & 12, but seems broken in 13.

I am having fatal error when I try to export a dwg file to 2007 DXF file. I receive the following message:

May 24, 2012I was trying to create an alignment from a polyline to further create a profile, and I keep getting the following message:

Then I started 2013 Civil 3D as an administrator and I got the same error.

Jul 31, 2012Occurs when I am trying to raise/lower a group of feature lines (break lines) within my grading plan. As soon as I enter the value to raise/lower and hit enter the error comes up and Civil closes. Using Civil 3D 2013 and it is up-to-date (all patches, etc. installed). Know it is probably a windows registry error related issue, but I do not want to waste my afternoon uninstalling and re-installing Civil to take care of the issue. Windows 7 64-bit operating system.

Sep 3, 2013Having a problem with AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 which keeps crashing with a fatal error on a Win7 Pro (64) machine. Was able to get the user to make a screenshot on the most recent occasion, and the error was as follows:

Having looked through your forums I see that this may be related to the video card, which is a Nvida Quadro 5000. I've already updated the driver to the Quadro Performance Driver, v320.78, but the problem continues.
Is there a different partner certified driver that I should be using (can't seem to find any for Civil 3D) , or is the issue related to something else?

I have one tip also. When you modify the figure database "C:ProgramDataAutodeskC3D 2013enuSurvey" by using notepad and you add "*" after each figure it will connect during linework codes that much the prefix code and will exclude the integer, EPN1 and EPN2 will be treated as EPN
The aterisks can not be added from the civil3d .

Oct 24, 2012This is strange. I wanted to label just the alignment name in a couple of places. I have an Alignment Name Label Style that does this. I now notice that it will capitalize some of the lower case P's in the curve label. Not the line label just the curve. They're applying the same style. It also changes back to lower case if I drag the label.
The style has one component and that is the Alignment Name and has Preserve Case set.

Feb 15, 2013I have applied a client's style to the alignment to show PI's. In this case we have 2 alignments close to each other (NB & SB of road). PI's close to each other will then overlap. What I would like to do is apply a style that will have the line and text go exactly in the opposite direction. I am trying to avoid dragging the text as that seems to bring up several more issues. I am looking for whatwhere to change within the style editor to make this happen.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Marker Style
Mar 18, 2013I believe I've found a bug with marker styles. I found this while editing a profile style. Under my profile style I have the Point of Vertical Intersection set to PI Point for the marker style.
Here is the screenshot of the marker style for the plan view.
Here is the screenshot of the marker style for the profile view with part of my profile shown next to it. Notice how the marker color is different in the profile than what it's set to. It's also not changing layers. It seems that the profile setting for the marker style display doesn't actually work. It takes the settings for the plan view and ignores the profile display style.

Dec 16, 2013I am getting a fatal error message "Unhandled Access Violation Reading 0x0038 Exception at e9a85402h". I was working on a drawing Friday afternnon and the error popped up and crashed Civil 3d. I could open Civil 3d, but when I tried to open the drawing in question, the error would occur and crash Civil 3d. I started a new drawing and inserted the old drawing as a block. That had been working all morning, but all of a sudden the same error started to occur again. What is the error?

Jul 27, 2010We have a project where the alignment is not in the center of the section (it's along one edge of the project), but we want the Title Annotation ("STA. 165+00") to show up in the center of the sections.
If you choose "Center" justification in the style, it "centers" it about the zero offset, which in our case is actually the left side.
Is there any way to truly center this call, short of turning it OFF and manually creating separate labels?
Unfortunately, I can't use "Center" and give it a "Y" offset, because the alignment does vary slightly (±30 feet) within these 250' cross sections - which would cause the label to vary by that much also...

The labels show in the sections, but not the assembly. We are running Civil 3D 2012.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Text Style Keeps Changing?
Jun 28, 2012This has happened in a couple of drawings now. The STYLE dialog keeps saying "The current style has been modified. Do you want to save your changes?" even when I have changed nothing at all. Anyway, I select the style I want, hit Apply and Set Current, and put in some text. Now I list that text, and sure enough, instead of being on L80 it says L-BASE|Standard or some such thing. If I use DTEXT, Style and set it there, my text will be the correct style - but if I go back to the Style dialog box, L-BASE|Standard will show as current again. Acad C3D 2011.
