Nov 6, 2013This happened in the middle of dimensioning A drawing. Was adding tolerance and some text to some dimensions which usually looks like this.
1.500±.001" Turn Runner
But all of a sudden it started to look like this.
1.500" Turn Runner±.001" Turn Runner
Everything in the dim suffix field is repeated twice and I don't know why.
No variables were changed...I literally did one dimension that came out normally and the next one did this.
Now all dimensions do this. There is a single dimstyle with no daughter styles.
AutoCAD 2013 :: Repeating FILLET Command When Using Keyboard?
Dec 31, 2013I want to make it so that whenever I type F for FILLET the MULTIPLE option is selected so I don't have to type F then M. Is there a way to make it so that when I type F it always gives me the multiple option without my having to type F then M? How would I do that?

Jan 7, 2014i need to create a solid by extruding/offseting a spline surface (attached picture). The problem is, a solid created by simply extruding this surface "outside" would cross itself, so autocad does not allow me to do it (neither extruding, surface offsetting is working) I tried to make a cube then using this surface as a splitting spline - however a solid created this way is flat on z-axis. How can I do this ? Everything is fine with the spline as well as a surface - it's closed one. Obviously the problem is in the fact in the self intersection of the extruded solid. So maybe using it to split a solid is a better approach?

Apr 17, 2013Is it possible to run force analysis on my part in Inventor? I have used the force analysis before, but never for something so complex in shape. My main issues are constraining the base of the part and applying forces. I tried thickening sections of the part in order to apply a force/constraint, but now Inventor won't recognize the thickened parts as connected to the main body.
On a side note, it won't let me attach my file, which is 122 MB. Is it too large?
AutoCAD 2013 :: No Hatch Patterns
Aug 4, 2013I am using AutoCAD 2014 trial version. There are no hatch patterns included that I know of. Is there any way to experiment with genuine hatch patterns, cross, brick, stone, etc.

Dec 22, 2013Our engineering department users are facing this problem that the hatch patterns are not visible. Everytime they have to use the FILL command when they open any drawing. They are facing this problem with some dwgs, when anybody else opens the same drawing this happens again. After that they are unable to see the hatch patterns in any drawing. After using FILL it becomes visible but restrting the AutoCAD reverts the setting back so they unable to see the hatch pattern again. After opening that dwg in all files they are unable to hatch.

Oct 23, 2013I am having some trouble with hatch patterns. We are using FM Systems as our CAFM tool and there is a plugin for it within AutoCAD. The plugin allows you to create hatch patterns for things such as departments and space types. Right now this is working perfectly within AutoCAD 2012. However, when I try to run the routine within AutoCAD 2014, the only hatches that show up are the solid ones. In other words, any pattern that is not a solid pattern does not show up. I tried comparing all of the Hatch System Variables between 2012 and 2014, but still get the same thing.

In the process it has deleted all of the predifined hatch patterns and the custom one did not work either. So now I have ZERO hatch patterns.

Aug 7, 2012I am working with a client who upgraded to 2013 and their profile settings have disappeared. They also are not able to open hatch patterns that have been copied to the default folder, which is added to the support files search path.
I am not a CAD user or expert with the application, but am required to provide IT support for a client that uses the product.
Steps to recover the old profile settings and save the hatch patterns so they are available each time the application is opened?
AutoCAD Inventor :: 2013 Crash / Extremely Slow Performance With Patterns
May 28, 2013I have a mech/mfg-necessary pattern set on several parts, to the tune of about 90 slots and 500 holes each. Inventor is absolutely sucking it up handling these parts, and the assembly of these parts together is just a complete nightmare.
I have half-hour load times, constant crashes, and to top it off, they're iparts (used in an iassembly), which means I am constantly having to regenerate the whole part family with every change, a process that can take literally hours.
Are there substitute tricks, or display setting shenanigans I can pull? All of the features are individually needed somewhere, but no mgf machine needs all of them present at once.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Converting Complex Solid Surface To Solid Model
Aug 12, 2013I have finally created the shell of the complex surface that you see. This is only a section of the part because I cannot show the whole thing for proprietary reasons. I formed solid surfaces using the network command. The propblem is that it will not convert to a solid because the surface seams are not "water tight." When the network command created the solid surfaces, the surface seams do not exactly match the lines so there are gaps in all the seams. I have tried blending, patching, etc. and nothing works. how to convert this to a solid without losing the outlines and the shape?

When I open old drawings with these hatches in them, they load just fine...but I am unable to hatch any new areas with these hatches (because they are not listed in the hatch library)

What I'm after is a line consisting of:
Long Line
Space
Short Line (roughly 1/3 length of long line)

But that is all I want to see, regardless of the distance between the start and end points. I use this a lot for laying out joists.
I know I could make a dynamic block of it, but that would mean streaching every line between the two points.
AutoCad :: Repeating Break At Point
Jan 19, 2010I currently use a full version of AutoCAD 2009. One thing I was able to do previously was repeat break at point by right-clicking and selecting the repeat function.
Now when I try to do that in AuctoCAD 2009, the repeat function will result with just a plain break instead of a break at point.
My question is, how do i get this functionality back so that I can repeat break at point as many times as I need to? I use this command many times back to back and hate having to go click on the button from the ribbon menu.

Feb 21, 2012I have placedmy own Origin in the center of the screen. I am constantly using construction lines from this origin using the offset command with various offset lengths. What I am trying to achieve is to enter a numeric value and press enter on a continuous cycle. Without Selecting construction line, Offset, Distance, Select Line, Select side. I have tried using Macro and CUI in the manage tab without success. I understand the concept, but lack the knowledge to succeed. I have a nose bleed from continuously hitting a wall.

After the lisp has run and scaled the drawing, the prompts for base point and reference point run a second time. How can I get this to run through once? I think it has something to do with the way the reference length is being entered. The base point and first reference point are the lower left corner of the drawing, while the second reference point is the lower right corner.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Workflow To Emboss / Cut Repeating Decorative Pattern Into Revolved Solid?
Aug 2, 2013I'm playing around with a part that I'd like to "decorate" with embossed features or perhaps even cut-outs. The actual part, before adornments, looks like a funnel. As sketched now, I'm revolving a spline and then creating a thickened solid feature. I suppose that the variable diameter and varying cross sectional radius of my part increases the level of complexity of this task over a part that looks more like a regular cylinder. I'm hoping to learn a tecnique that will work for revolved parts with highly irregular profiles - not just plain ole cylinders.
So, what I'd like to do is emboss (negative or positive) and/or thru-cut decorative geometric or vine/flower inspired patterns into the outside face of a funnel-like part. (Pic attached.) I'm picturing some sort of pattern that might repeat around the part. (The variable diameter probably really complicates matters here.) I haven't put much effort/experimentation into this yet - pretty much because I'm a loss about where to even start.

Nov 7, 2008I am trying to get one image onto a new canvas 6 times, ie when I get a 5x7 print it will have 6 little pics, like passport pictures. How do I do this?
Apparently you can tile images or create a pattern and then paintbucket the blank canvas with it, or even create a custom paint and use the brush to fill in the canvas.
I tried the pattern generator, and it gave me crazy random patterns with little fragments of my source picture all over the place.

Nov 28, 2004I'm trying to create a border of Christmas lights around a photo (see samlple image below). In opposite corners of the photo are hollies & berries and candycanes. Running down along the sides, and along the top and bottom, I would like to draw a "wire", and then add little lights to it. I already have the different-colored lights as separate files and just need to know if it is possible to "string" the lights along the wire without having to do it manually, creating a quick border. Learning how to do this will also assist me with other similar projects in the future.

In previous versions, you could hold down Alt while choosing an adjustment, such as Levels -- Instead of the default settings for the dialog, you would automatically get the same adjustment settings that were used the last time (as long as Photoshop had not been closed and reopened).
Can the same thing be done with the Adjustments panel -- click on an adjustment and get the last settings that were used? I tried the old Alt-Click shortcut and that didn't work.

Illustrator :: Actions Repeating With Function Key

I've set up an action that will add crop marks to a selected object. The action works great when clicking the play button on the panel, but when I assign a Function Key to the action, it runs the action twice (giving me 2 set of crop marks). I've tried different Function Keys thinking it was a keyboard shortcut conflict, but that has made no difference.
Illustrator :: Repeating A Pattern On 3D Object?
Dec 11, 2012I have some 3D sand in a bottle and I'm trying to map a sand symbol to it, but it's coming up way to large. Illustrator will not let me duplicate the image when I try apply it through 3D extrude & bevel - map art option. It doesn't seem like this should be a difficult task. Basically, my sand picture is 1000px x 1000px. I saved it as a jpeg, then imported it into my swatch gallery in illustrator (pretty sure that's the correct way). When I try to apply it to my sand using "map art" I have the option to "scale to fit" which distorts the image horribly. I want it to be a 1:1 ratio, if that makes sense, only smaller and duplicated 10x or whatever to cover the whole object. It's not a seamless picture that I'm mapping, so if there's a filter that I can apply that would make it less noticable. I'll attach a screenshot of the sand to show you what I'm talking about. The top layer of sand looks almost perfect, but the bottom one looks terrible because I had to stretch symbol to cover the whole object. If you can tell from the image, each grain of sand is stretched horizontally by like 10 so it doesn't even look like sand.

Now I made all the assets, and I thought I can use the star animation as a sub animation, so I can tell it to appear in random heights, move from right to left and start at a random frame, so I made a GIF just for that. But I fail to see any sort of controls that let me do what I was planned.
