When I save my autocad drawing with hatches as a PDF and open it in illustrator, it makes everything extremely slow, probably because the hatch is converted into separate lines in illustrator. What can I do to get around this?
I tried to open it as a dwg file as well, but it didn't work.
I'm trying to import some Adobe Illustrator files into After Effects so that I can animate them. As far as I understand, I need to import them as a composition so that the layers will remain separate from each other.
However whenever I try to do this, I go through the whole process- select the file, select composition, click OK, it does nothing. The file does not appear anywhere in my project, it's as if I haven't done anything.
I have 30 Illustrator pdf files created in Illustrator 10 that I would like to transform into one Illustrator CS6 file with each file being a separate artboard. I would like to import them all at once and not have to do it one by one.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm working on pdf image files, 300 dpi, and I want to use the Image Trace tool to vectorized these ones. The result has to be under 4 colors, and the file is a mozaic of photos calibrated 3mm x 3mm.
The purpose is to vectorize the whole image ( composed with approximately 800 photos )I did different tests with the settings of the Image Trace tool with samples of 12 x 12 mm ( 4 photos x 4 photos ) and the result is correct. But when I try to do the same with the entire image, the result is just horrible The entire image is sized 200 mm height and 130 mm width, but the import format is exactly the same than the samlpes I made my presets on.
I was thinking that Illustrator should act the same with the full image than with the small one, it just took more time to calculate the rendering, but apparently not.
I'm having serious issues in Illustrator CS5 trying to import SVG files with nested clip-path properties.
Illutrator seems to create unnecessary groups, and messes up with group parents, effectively screwing things up.
Here is a minimal example :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?><!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.1//EN" "http://www.w3.org/Graphics/SVG/1.1/DTD/svg11.dtd" [<!ENTITY ns_svg "http://www.w3.org/2000/svg"><!ENTITY ns_xlink "http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">]>
<svg version="1.1" id="main" overflow="visible" xmlns="&ns_svg;" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">
<g id="piece-1">
<g clip-path="url(#cpform)" id="form1">
<g clip-path="url(#cplogo)" id="logo1">
<rect fill="#FF0000" x="10" y="10" width="1000" height="1000" />
[Code]...
Such a valid SVG file displays fine in Chrome, IE, Opera, Firefox, but Illustrator fails loading it properly, because it creates two groups between "main" and "piece-1" (which is in itself not too bad), and sets piece-1 as a brother of another unnecesarry group from which piece-2 will descend. piece-2 and piece-1 are then clipped with piece-1 clip-path, which is just plain wrong and screws display.
Note that you can move piece-2 to the root of the document, which restores the display. But save this fixed file, and open it again : it"s back to its broken state.
Does anoyone know if this is fixed in CS6 ? If there is a workaround ?
I have 30 separate illustrator pdf files (one page each) that I would like to make into one Illustrator CS6 file with 30 artboards. Is there any way to do that without having to import one by one?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am an archaeologist working with survey equipment and Map3D for a few years but now I have the following problem.
When I import the shapefiles created in my leica/topcon equipment into Map3D (mapimport) there is the possibility to select which attributes are going to be imported with an import profile file (.ipf).
How do I create the above and save it so that I do not have to go through the same process again?
I have designed a letterhead in Ai (CS5). I want to make it a templete for Word 2010.
Currently, I am writing all letters in Ai and making them a PDF. It would be easier in Word.
Our company just upgraded to AutoCad 2011. We get files from our clients that exports their files from revit. It seems that Autocad 2011 slows down when reading this files (cursor will have a second or two delay).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have loads of dwgs made by a former employee at another site that have our company logo in the tile block. I need to replace the company logo with a new one. If it were not made from a dwt, I could change the .dwg file and just reinsert the block and let it redefine the block, done. But since all of the text in each drawing was input using a template, I cannot do this without losing all of that data. We are not permitted to explode the title block, delete the old logo & add a new one as the drawing format needs to remain as one entity. Is there a way to automatically update these dwgs without re-entering all of the title/revision block text on every drawing?

I am new to programming in general, but really new to C#. A little to discribe what I want to do.
I need to creat a command that once I run it, I get to choose an excel file that will be filled with points in a D,X,Y,Z format. (points range from 1-??) I know there are other ways of doing this (importing text ascii) but I need to cut down on the time and steps. This is something I do on a regular basis for people to convert different coordinate systems.
how to do the basics right now, I am just having trouble getting to the point that it will pull the info out of an excel file. I do not have any code right now to share to show my progress either.
When I try and import layouts as sheets, the "Prefix sheet titles with file name" is subdued. (AutoCAD MEP 2012)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI learned Autocad on release 12 and then migrated to r14 and 2001. Nowadays most drafting is done with r14. However I want to be able to insert a .jpg into the drawing
environment and draw lines over it. Specifically, I want to take pictures of Christopher Dressers designs and bring them into Autocad and then trace over them. I feel I will get a huge education into architectural ornament as well as becoming more facile with lines.
I haven't kept up with Autocad's upgrades but undoubtedly the later releases have this functionality. Which one will work?

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs this functionality still available. I have seen several threads that mention it being available on some people layer manager, but I don't have it on either. See attachment. I remember there being a registry key you could add or change to the tools, but when I did that I always got two errors in drawings that would appear every audit.

My goal is to, as quickly as possible, give 8 drawings the same annotation settings.

I am currently using a Nikon D7100 and recording my photos in the Raw/NEF-RAW format. Recently, whenever I am uploading my photos to Lightroom 5, my photos are changing to .dng files rather than staying in the NEF file. When I go and look back at my previous imports from the past few times, they are in NEF and NOT in .dng. Why is this doing this and how do I turn this feature off so that my files remain the same going from my camera to my computer through importation.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to import a csv file into map3D and set the layers to which the blocks with attributes are inserted on. Using
Click Home tab > Data panel > Import From Files > mapimport.
Problem is, when I do this, I do not get the dialog that the help file says I should, like a place to define an insert layer or schema. All I get is the plain dialog that asks for formatting (file format such as autodesk up loadable file), Z unit, Coordinate system, and create block.
I also want to export the attribute data into a survey point file.
