View 6 RepliesAs an engineering company we have started to convert hundreds of our drawings from AutoCAD to PDF using a batch utility.
However every file that is converted into a PDF file is opened by a PDF Viewer. We want to prevent this.
I opened my *.pc3 file and removed the check from the appropriate box. See below
I press OK, then save the file and close. However when I reopen the file, I see the box for Openining in PDF Viewer has been rechecked. No matter what I do, I cannot permanently remove the check from this box.
When I have 2 files open, one minimized and the other visible on the screen, when I quit the file showing on the screen and then open the one that was minimized, it comes up w/a blank black screen. There is no way I have found to get the info in the file to display.
Then, if I save the blank screenof previously minimized file, close it then reopen it the info is back on screen with changes made to the file intact.
I found this error a bit strange, my colleague it trying to save a file and this error keeps on coming out (see attachments). When we try to save it, it only saves as a temp file. When we try to open up the temp file and try to save it, it still doesn't allow us to do. Also, when we cancel the save, the original file will be gone and he will lost all of his data. Below are the specs of the computer and version of the AutoCAD.
Computer: DELL Precision T5500
OS: Windows 7 Ult
AutoCAD Version: 2011
Also, we're using ProSteel Series 3 as well. We tried saving the file using ProSteel and just AutoCAD but it didn't do the trick. I've tried some options (listed below) that might get it to work but still no luck.
1. Restart the computer.
2. Repair / Reinstall AutoCAD.
3. Give permission to the folder (read from the forum).
i want to import my 2013 office workspace in to my 2012 home Version.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded from AutoCAD 2008 to 2001. Now when opening a file from windows explorer (desktop vs the AutoCAD browser) and AutoCAD is not running. AutoCAD will startup and open a new drawing as well as bring up the dialog box for finding a file to open, which I cancel, THEN open the drawing that I have selected. I have not seen this before and am wondering what variable or option is causing to happen. I am also seeing two icons for the same drawing file in the Windows task bar.
View 2 Replies View RelatedA co-worker had a copy of a handy little guide called "Lynn Allen's Tips and Tricks for AutoCAD 2012". I think she (or another co-worker) got it at AU.
On page 33 under the heading "DGN Support", it says the following:
Complex linetypes are now maintained! To ensure that custom linetypes are displayed, copy the corresponding .rsc files to the support path...........
The way I read that, Acad will read the RSC file and display linetypes from it. Is that true? Does it only work when I'm looking at a DGN file? Or can I use the RSC file with my dwg file? I'd test it myself but I don't have access to any MicroStation files.
If Acad can read the RSC file directly, then I don't see why the linetypes can't be used in a dwg file. AND that being the case, I also don't see why an Autodesk product can't be created to WRITE these RSC files. As far as I'm concerned MicroStation's custom linestyles is so much more advanced than Acad's linetypes.
I work with a company network, and everytime after do different updates in a project at the time to reopen the file appears "file not valid".
View 1 Replies View RelatedA fellow co-worker accidentally checked the box that says "don't open this file" (or something like that) that appears when a language file is missing upon opening a file from a client. He then also "accidentally" clicked the "perform this action every time" so as the warning window wouldn't appear any more. As a consequence there are now files that we cannot open on that computer. I've searched through system variable lists and come up empty handed.....

View 3 Replies View RelatedSo i turned off the "command line completion" settings. However, now I have to type in the full command in order to run it. I found that there should be an "acad.pgp" file somewhere in the support paths that will allow me to define command aliases. So i did a complete search of my C: drive for "*.pgp" and the search came up empty; I tried a few different ways and places (trying narrow it down) but couldn't find ANY of these files.
I have the student version of 2012. Does this have something to do with it? I wouldn't think it should because of what it says on the education site: "Important Note :The Autodesk Student Version software incorporates all the functionality of our professional licenses, but includes a print banner making the software inappropriate for professional, commercial, or for-profit purposes."

when i add a custom template file location under options>files>template settings>drawing template file location>default template file name for QNEW i i get the error message c:program filesautodeskautocad mechanical 2012acadmamg3dim.arx cannot find a dll or other file that it needs. if i remove my custom template file location and leave it blank, i get no error. its the same thing for the drawing template file location, if i change the default file location to another path, i get a different dll error message when launching cad.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOur new employee is trying to do a custom hatch of a stone pattern, but when he selects it, he gets a message saying it's invalid. I had him copy over the entire PAT folder that I use and tell his support directory to look at it. It works when I use it on my computer. So far none of the other custom hatch patterns give him an invalid message, just this one.
I know he's working on drawings that another ex-employee started. He used a whole different set of PAT files for some reason. I think when we were looking for downloadable files and just used whatever he found. And this new employee is working on the computer of someone that is no longer with the company...so it's impossible for me to find out who did what. Also, I don't know if it makes a difference, but I (and 2 other people) have Architecture 2010, and the rest of the employees have AutoCAD 2011. I don't think this is an issue because no one else seems to have this problem, and like I said before, all the other hatch patterns work.
The thing that doesn't make sense to me is that I'm pretty sure this pattern is a standard custom hatch, because it's found in my "AutoCAD Architecture 2010/support" folder, as opposed to my "ACA 2010/enu/support" folder. But when I go into his system, he doesn't have any of those patterns in his similar folder.
I am trying to create a centralized .arg file, so that if I make a change to this default profile all the machines will immediately see the change.
Currently I can only get this to work by importing the new profile, and i can't really ask 40 or so draughtsmen to re import when a change has been made.
AutoCad see's the file but does not update any changes.
We are looking for a SVG to DXF file converter windows library which can be integrated into our application. The DXF files generated, should be able to be imported in EDA tools like (Altium,MentorGraphics)
We would like to know which tool can be used and the price, licensing terms as well. If there is a demo version of the library available to test it?
Does Auto-Cad '11 has the capability to convert dwg file to pdf?
View 7 Replies View RelatedNot sure of the version of MDT files, but they won't export into Inventor 2011 so they are older than MDT 2009.
I have been trying to figure out why client cannot see objects drawn in MDT when opened in vanilla Acad. I had him check what I believe is the main variable affecting this, proxy show, and it was set to 0. After setting it to 1 and doing a regen, still nothing.
I also checked proxy graphics and proxy notice and they are both set to 1, but neither affect this issue directly.
I've had a few people check this file on their systems and they can see the objects. Various O.S.'s were used to test the file, Win7/64 and 32, however the client who is having problems is using WinXP/32. I am also able to open and see the object on another WinXP system.
Something else to note, I realize this isn't the correct way to use aectoacad, but I tried opening the file in vanilla Acad and used that export to acad command and guess what? The client can see the object now!
I thought export to acad (aka aectoacad) was suppose to be used from what ever application the dwg first originated in?!?! If it works this way then so be it!
I am trying to combine a .CTB file from one of our consultants with ours without overwriting each others colors, pen weights and styles. How can i do that? we both have our own CTB file and we both use about the same colors and thicknesses but for different items (i.e. our consultants red is a thick line used for exterior walls, and our red is used for light lines beyond).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am receiving this error whether I am attempting to view a drawing file via the network, via a lotus notes database, or loaded locally.:
"Cannot find the specified drawing file. Please verify that the file exist"
The Autodesk product I am using is Autodesk 2012 LT (trial)
The operating system is Widows 7 (64 bit)
I have had the same error for multiple Autodesk readers aswell on this same PC including:
Design Review 2013, 2012, 2011
True view 2013, 2012
I have administrative rights to the profile in question and I have also attempted to use a separate profile but received the same results. All attempts to manually set the file association have liekwise failed. the program will initialize, but the error message returns with no ability to veiw the drawing file(s).
I have also removed/uninstalled all of the above mentioned programs via Autodesk instructions/procedures for proper removal of folders/subfolders/registry entries (HKey local machine and current user) as well as stoping any autodesk program running in task manager.
My next step is to re-image the machine to make the file association stick to an autocad program.
Is there a way to convert a PDF file to a DWG? With edit-able lines?
I have a PDF file I need to add a few lines to and there is no DWG. Even If I could draw over it, the thing is it HAS to be to scale.
I have one file that gives me the following message in the command line when I open it:
simplex.shx is a normal text font file, not a shape file.
simplex.shx is a normal text font file, not a shape file. [simplex.shx] could not be located.
I don't get this message with other files that are all pathed the same.
I export my .dwg file to .dwf and the other entities like the text and line become crcket attached is the output.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI think my problem should be easy to answer, today out of nowhere I suddenly had to type in the file names for different commands such as "save as" or in the layout options "from template" usually there pops up the standard folder list where you can choose the file you want.
In the pic you can see what happens if I'm clicking on "save as".
quick back ground - Windows 7 64 Bit - Autocad 2010 installed - IE 8 32 / 64bit - Lotus Notes 8.5
Our DWG files are stored in a shared folder, and we use a Lotus Notes DataBase to browse for drawings as you can put information with the DB Entry.
When you click Open drawing IE 8 pops up but the window is blank. PDF's open fine in IE 8.
why the dwg drawings are blank?
How do you add blocks from another file? Also can a block span multiple layers? How do you change the layer of a block?
