I have a drawing where I have placed all of my natural gas piping. I have all of the annotative blocks set to 3/32"=1'-0" and 1/32"=1'-0" scales. They are both correctly displayed in this drawing.
When I xref this drawing into another about half of the 1/32" blocks show up correctly. The other half are shifted to the right off of the plan. All of the 3/32" blocks show up correctly.

I have a block tha I use in a point label style. All of the block entities are on layer 0. The label style is also set to layer 0 so that it get on the same layer as the point. I've tried setting the block color in the label at by layer and by block. When a drawing that contains this label style is XREF'ed into another drawing, the block in the label always takes on the color of the current layer.
C3D 2011, Version 3
edit: I attached an example. The top figure is the point with the block in the label and the bottom is just the block itself.

I have come across a situation whereby when a user redefines a block in a drawing it is changing the draw order of the xrefs. The block in question is the Plan frame, and is located in paperspace. The user redefines the block and the xrefs change their draw order in the viewport. A regen does not unfortunately correct the issue.Drawings were created with Civil 3D 2010. The plan frame block is a dynamic block.

I have created a dynamic block with a stretch, flip and rotate. Everything works great in its file. When I insert it in another file, the grips move but the block does not change.

I have a few xrefs loaded into my drawing and I want them all to appear greyscale (color 9) so that whatever I draw on top of the xref is in color and is easy to spot..
I have tried putting the xref on a layer that is default color 9 but the xref is still shown in color. How to set the xref to color grey?

This was originally posted under 2009 - but I have this issue in 2010!
The old post was: Block Editor Posted: Aug 1, 2008 7:01 PM
When I go into block editor, edit the block then close it out. My cursor is really jerky in model space. Especially bad when I go into a command and try to select something. The only way to get rid of the jerkiness is to close auto cad and restart it. Is there anyway to cure this?
I have 2010 and am experiencing this exact same problem. It is intermittent and will sometimes 'go away' after a few minutes. Block editing is definitely related as a cause. I use SDI = 1 predominantly and it seems to be session independent. In other words one drawing session is experiencing the problem but jumping to another concurrent session exhibits no issues.
Task manager shows off the chart 99% plus on process ACAD when it is occurring.
Palette transparency is off globally. I have installed the latest NVidia driver for my Quadro NVS 285 video card. I am running a 3GHz P4 with 4 Gigabytes of ram - Dell Precision 380 workstation. Block Editor background color is default.
Restarting AutoCAD does make it go away - for the moment - but it is soon back. Even closing all tool palettes has no effect.
This does seem to be drawing specific - 2010 seems to be sensitive to something in older drawing blocks - prototype drawings from hotel vendors for instance - most likely inherited from a third party DXF process exhibit the issue heavily - and blocks from these drawings to a lesser degree. I have to constantly purge, audit, and wblock/replace my drawings to keep them clean. My default file type is 2010 which 'seems' to work, but it still happens. Audits show constant drawing errors cropping up, and repeating an audit, shows the same errors until a wblock replace is performed.

I am referencing a survey file in my site plan. Both were created using Civil 3D. I want to change the color of all of the reference files' layers to 250, so I selected them all in the layer properties manager and did so.
However, some layers are not changing colors. One layer is red in the reference file, but comes through on the site plan as magenta. Some Civil3D structures are also refusing to change colors.
I selected all of the objects in the reference file and made sure their colors were "by layer," but it did not completely fix the problem.

I have a drawing containg wall elements that is referenced into a whole bunch of other drawings (roughly a hundret).
In the wall-drawing i recently set the walls color to "by layer" via the display properties in style manager.
Unfortunately they keep their old color in the other files. I tried visretain and it didn't do the trick.

We have experienced what we think is a bug in AutoCAD 2010's printing. We are running A2010 with Update 1 & 2 installed. Same issue on both x32 & x64 hardware.
Each project is setup with a title block xref'ed into the sheet (quite common method).
The Title Block xref generally has images loaded & therefore the image is a child to the sheet file when the TB is referenced in.
We have used this method for about 15 years across most versions of AutoCAD with no issues before now.
Now on AutoCAD 2010, when we print the sheet, the xref'ed TB images print black & white, rather than color. However if we use AutoCAD 2008 with same pagesetup/ctb/pc3 etc, we get the same print, but image is colour (as we would expect & want).
This leads us to think that there is some issue in AutoCAD 2010 with xref'ed images & how they are treated when plotting.
To complicate matters further, if we bind the title block, thus making the image embeded within the sheet, the images now print fine in full colour.
So, if a image is loaded via a xref'ed dwg, it plots in Black & White. If image is referenced into live sheet (not via xref), then it plots in color. All other xref'ed linework prints as expected (defined by ctb).
Is there any new variable which manages the colour printing of the image in A2010 which we are not aware of (that didnt exist in A2008)?

A way to Change the color of an xref layer via command line by selecting the layer and not by knowing the layer name? What I am trying to do is come up with an action recorder file that will allow you to change an xref layer color.

I'm looking for a lisp that will change all the layer colors of selected xref by clicking the xref and select color from the color table palette. I have a routine that would change the layer color of a selected entity other than xref.

I have a Lisp that I have been working on with some folks in the office, and i feel like i am close, but i am not getting the cigar. The idea would be to have the lisp allow the user to select a nested x-ref entity, and change the color and linetype of the selected layer, similar to the old "LAP" command (I know it is a dinosaur, but I still miss it). I seem to be doing swimmingly, code I have quasi-plagiarized. It seems to crap out where i try to pass the selected linetype back to the layer. I get the nastygram "Command: ; error: no function definition: GETLINETYPE" right after selecting the linetype from the dialog.
Code below...
x(defun c:CX (/ Sel EntList DataList cnt Num ClrNum EntData)
(if (setq Sel (nentsel "
Select object to change layers color and linetype: "))

I'm having an issue with Autocad LT 2010 where when I xref in my title block which has our company logo in color, the logo will only print in black and white. If i open just the title block and print it, it will then print in color. I only seem to have this problem when the title block is xref'd in. I downloaded the 2012 demo version of AutoCadLT and it prints just fine? This has just started happening when my computer was upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit.

Is it possible to run a lisp which can extract all the xref names, make a layer with that name and then change the xref on the layer? I have got a similar routine from earlier posts but it doesn't work if any xrefs inserted in paper space (works fine on model space). could change this routine allowing to change the layer of xref in paper space too.
(defun dxf (i a) (cdr (assoc i a)))
(defun c:lxr ( )
(setq ss (ssget "x" '((0 . "INSERT"))))

I discover synchronizing the attribute block does not work. Say I want to change the value E16 to E16a in block editor and after synchronizing the attribute does not change. What worse is that if I erase one attribute E16, then synchronize, the other attribute value (E18, E8) change to a different number (E16, E18*) . Attached is an example dwg.

Everything works fine, but I have one problem.
I just want to change colors for all objects in current model space. But this command also changes attributes/blocks definitions (I mean, any new block which I insert has the color that I specified previous).
Where I have to change the code?

Been using ACAD for 20+years...AutoCAD 2012/Civil 3D 2012 is driving me nuts. Simple question I am sure. I created a new layer with green as its color. It is showing up as yellow in my viewport. I checked my plot style(ctb), and is same as I have used for many years....prints black(pen 7). Typically shows green on screen and plots black. Looking in the Layer Properties Manager, I noticed that on the far right, there is a column labeled 'VP Plot Syle'. It has Color 2(yellow) shown. How do I change this as I am guessing this is causing issue.

The Files could not be migrated (not the same Program and Operating systems) In Release 11 all my Reference File colors are now faded in Model and Paper Space. What do I have to change so that it looks like in Map 2009?
