I'm using Photo & Graphics Designer 7. Recently I've had the problem of the program no longer exporting PNG images I create with transparent backgrounds. They all have a box containing whatever color background I'm using at the time. I am selecting only the object I want to export.
View 8 RepliesI have been manipulating a file which has text on a transparent background but the text on the image has the obligatory white jaggies around the fringes. I can't for the life of me establish what I am doing wrong as I have done this before without this same issue.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have spent some time trying, in PaintShop Pro 7, to create an image with a transparent background to use as a layer over an underlying jpg.
I have now done it in Gimp, and tried it over another image in Gimp - it works. But when I export the image either as a GIF or as a JPG there is no transparency when I paste it over another image in PaintShop Pro.
Perhaps it would be easier to do the whole thing in Gimp, but it would be convenient to be able to do it in PSP too.
A client gave me a PDF of a typical architectural floorplan; with various rooms in the building. My job is to slice it so that each room is a separate slice. Easy. But we need the background of each slice to be transparent. Essentially we want to overlay a line drawing outline of the rooms on a different background.But when I save it as either a GIF or a PNG, it always saves the bg as -white-, regardless of how I try to set the transparency colour.
Now in Corel, if you save as a GIF or PNG and set the transparency colour to the -background- colour (white), the GIF or PNG auto-magically gets saved with a transparent bg. But this is not happening for me.
So... is there a way to save my GIF, PNG slices so that the white is automatically converted to transparency in each slice?
Or do I have to -manually- remove all the white in the main image (not looking forward to that!) and then slice?
I have tried 10 times now and all I am trying to do is remove a white background to a logo and export so that the background is transparent. Every time I remove the background and export and open, it shows up with the white background again. I know this is simple and driving me nuts.

I'm using CS and am trying to get an image into a QuarkXpress doc (Ver 6.1).
I think it has a tranparent background (i.e. I can see through the image in PS to the gray and white checked board). I save it as a TIFF and then when I 'get picture' from Quark, it appears with a white background.
How can I lose the background so that the holes in the image show the background that is in the picture box in Quark?

I have rounded logo for my business. I like to paste it into emails and some marketing materials in either a jpeg or png format. The problem is the background of the page keeps showing up in the export file. Any quick solutions to this? I have pasted a copy of it in the text here.
I have searched everywhere, but all I ever find is people saying TRANSPARENCY.

So far there has been no problems using jpeg scans for most purposes, however I am now working on a project that will require a background color change. Any automated way in Xara (or any other option) to convert the image and make the background transparent? I have attached a copy of the image below.

I'm probably bumbling around and buggering up the export of png formatted images, but it appears something besides transparency is getting exported as backbround.
I do `Select all' then export to png.The poorly drawn green arrows were added in photoshop to show the area I'm talking about. The xara document which is apparently also getting exported in some way.At least certain other tools see a black background in that area. Not all tools have that problem with the image. For example; photoshop sees only transparency there.
But when I browse the exported *.png files with `Epson print CD', it sees black in that area as illustrated by the screen grab below.The first two images look clean as expected (I'll explain in a moment) but the third (the one that hasn't been cleaned in Photoshop) shows the black background in that area.
The first two were cleaned up in photoshop and now appear clean as expected.So to get a usable image for import into Epson's tool I must:
1) Export as PNG from Xara
2) Open with Photoshop and run thru a procedure where anything outside the outer blue ring in the image is deleted.(Even though PS only sees transparency, if I select everything from the blue ring outward and delete it, saving back to png, then Epson's tool sees transparency there)
3) Import into `Epson Print CD' and print the graphic to a printable DVD.
How can I skip the second step? That is, how can I get a clean export in step one? What is it that some tools are seeing as black background?
W/ 6 & I think 7, in order to create a transparent png I would have to save the file (single layer PSD w/ transparancy) and open it up in Image Ready, or click on the image ready button to send the image over. Then I would have to select PNG and optimize it, and it would save the transparency.
If I would try to do this all within PS, the transparent areas are saved as white, so the image was not transparent.
Do I still have to do this w/ CS, or can you really save truley transparent pngs within Photoshop now?
I haven't been doing graphics for a few years and are having trouble getting Xara Extreme to export a small drawing with a transparent background. I am selecting the image in Xara, Export, Save as .png, True color + alpha, Save
The image saves okay but has a white background??
I have made a layout for an iPhone app in Illustrator. When I export an artboard with a size of 160 x 90 px to png with 326 ppi, the size ot the image I get out of it is 724 x 408 px with 326 ppi. Also if I copy and paste the object to Photoshop it has the same growth.
I'd like to make pixel-sharp design, so what is the best way to do it?
I have a folder with about 600 transparent PNGs that I use in my photomanipulation projects in Gimp... about 100 of those are the most used of the 600.... would it be a good idea or a bad idea to make Gimp brushes out of those PNGs? or should I just stick to using transparent PNGs via copy and paste?

View 7 Replies View RelatedTill X3 Photo-Paint opened and saved transparent PNGs as a seperate image with attached mask.Example:I have an image and load a B/W mask into it.
When I save this as PNG and reload it in X3, Photo-Paint displays again exactly what I have just saved:
However when I open this same PNG in X6, the image and mask get merged into a single object:
It's in effect doing automatically a "create object from selection" function and discards then the background.Why? I can't work with the full background image anymore, because the transparent parts are missing, and the mask is also gone. Is there no way to open the full PNG, without any merging and deleting of masks, just the way X3 was doing it?Also, the only way to save a transparent PNG in X6 is to check "save only selected objects"? When I don't check this, but still check "transparency" in the PNG export dialogue, then the mask won't be saved nonetheless.
I've been stuck with the task of creating textures for the people's clothes and etc. He sends me the main templates which are 24 bit pngs . and I have to edit them and then save them as 32 bit png . everytime I save them as pngs though they default to 24 bit is there anyway to change them to 32 bit ?

View 3 Replies View RelatedSuppose you discover that at some point previously that you accidenetally did multiple pastings of the same thing into the same place, and suppose you go left-click then delete, then left click then delete (etc) SLOWLY, then ou can delete the offending multiple items one at a time and all is good.
HOWEVER if you try to do it too quickly it all goes wrong. It seems that the tool that was used to create the object that you are trying to delete suddenly gets selected. e.g. If it is multiple copies of the same text and you go left-click, then delete, then left-click TOO QUICKLY, then suddenly instead of being in Selector tool mode, you suddenly find yourself in Text Tool mode and find yourself deleting individual characters one at a time instead of the entire text items.
Likewise, if you find a rectangle and do left-click - delete key - left-click too quickly you suddenly find yourself in Rectangle Tool mode and the delete key no longer functions.
I need to strip my current image of its background color so that the background color on my website goes thru my image. In other words I need a transparent background for my image.
I have create a new layer that is transparent, but the background color on my website does not go thru it. The background color of this image appears to be grayish not transparent.
When exporting images LR no longer recognizes my hard drive or external hard drive, only sees the desk top icon. I tried a new catalog and an old catalog and still the same.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen launching a render, the message "background processes initializing / this may take a while" gets stuck more than 70s in CS6, whatever the project, whereas it was never on more than 10s in CS5. We're back to the CS4 delays here.
On a side note, the multiprocessing is a bit weird:
Before it was pretty straightforward : When 10 cores were used for the render, the frames were rendered by batches of 10. With CS6 it's different : A first batch of 3 frames get rendered, then another one of 14 (!!), then I lost track of the process. Is multiprocessing so different in CS6 ?

I was asked to cut out the background from a logo to make it transparent so the logo would look nice on a variety of backgrounds. I've been given a good quality jpeg file.
What I did was I selected (by colour) the background (white), inverted the selection, copied it and pasted as a new image.
It's all fine (the logo itself doesn't have any other elements) but there's still some whiteish/greyish outline around certain elements of the logo.
If I were to do it manually, it'd probably take ages. What would be the best way to accomplish it?
When exporting to SVG is there a way to just have the graphic exported and not the whole page? Even when the graphic is selected when going into the Export option the saved file shows the whole page and not just the graphic.
