View 2 Repliesthere are a lot of plug-ins available to "clean-up" and perfect images...does anyone know if there are any real good filters for making a photo "dirty" ie dust, scrathes, light leaks, grain, distortion, blurring, vignetting, anything like that?

View 5 Replies View Relatedi'm looking a way to create claws scratches,
any idea where to start? is there a brush that produce the same effect?
So this started happening a mere hours ago. I get these black scratches on every new document I make.
So At the top there is some weird black stuff. Any thoughts on why this keep . happening?
P.S. I have Photoshop CS6
Using the 64-bit extended CS6 version under Win 8/64. Am I not using the filter correctly, or is this a limitation regarding its use?
I duplicate a layer and apply the filter. I then add a white mask and invert it to get black. I change the layer blending mode to either darken or lighten, depending on the requirements at hand. I use the paint brush to remove the spotting and it works. However, if I add a new layer and then go back to the Dust and Scratches layer, the paint brush further modify the layer. I need to create a new layer and start all over again.
I am finding that if I convert the layer for smart filter use, I cannot use the paint brush. The layer needs to be rasterized, again.
I am running Photoshop CS6 with all updates on a Windows 8 system. I have several keyboard shortcuts set up that all work fine but when I assign a keyboard shortcut for the dust & scratches filter it will work until I close Photoshop - when I then open Photoshop again this shortcut is gone but all my other shortcuts remain.
I have tried going back to the default keyboard shortcuts and then adding just the shortcut for dust & scratches (I have tried ctrl-F8 and several others) and then closing Photoshop and opening it again with the same results. I was able to add back all of my other shortcuts and they work fine.
For some reason I can assign a keyboard shortcut to anything except the dust & scratches filter.
when I select an area of a photo and attempt to use the 'dust and scratches' filter, Elements 11 jumps to the 'Hand Tool' and locks up. This is on a Windows 8 machine.

I also can't use the eyedropper and pick up color around it and paint over the text. The color around the text isn't solid. I would post the photo or a link to it but since I'm new I guess I can't. Can you please tell me how I can remove the text?

I am trying to remove a serious lens flare from a photo, with varied (and not very good) results.
What would you say would be the best technique to remove this lens flare? work with the photo and demonstrate the result by posting the image here. I should probably point out that this was not shot with RAW.
I have attached a smaller sized version of the image here, but i have also posted the original, full size image here: [URL]

View 8 Replies View RelatedMaking early steps in Photoshop, my little sister put a lettering over a photo, worked with filters, etc, and then properly flattened image and saved it as jpg.
All looks nice but she did it on the original instead of working with a copy . As a result , the photo, which is important for the family archive, now has this lettering all over and we don't know how to clean it up.
The letters are semi transparent with no sharp edges, the photo underneath is partly visible.
I 've tried to select letters and do something with filters, but the parts of the photo visible under the letters, are with different texture and colours and and I've achieved nothing - the letters are almost impossible to select properly. Even when selected more or less properly and treated with filters/layer transparency/etc they are still clearly visible, only their colour and saturation changes...
Tried everything within my limited Photoshop skills incl, trying to find any History palette which to use to reverse all lettering done over the photo but History was not saved.
It is a digital photo,so, there is no film to scan and have a clean original...
Could someone with Photoshop skills better than mine, please, tell me how to remove this text from the photo - it is an important part of our family photo archive and I'm desperate to restore it to the original condition.
