View 4 RepliesI'm in process of making a bulk of certificates to give to a group of people who participated in a contest. I have the design but I have to create over 200 different certificates (because they are personalized for every person). Each certificate should contain the name of the person to whom is adressed.
Obviously I could do it one by one but I'm looking for a quicker way to do it. I have the names database in txt format, sql format, xml format, whatever...
I've been seeing a few flowerish type tiled backgrounds.
How or where can I make or find brushes like this?
I want to map a design into a 3d shape of a face (its a square NON 3D object created in Illustrator).

The man I work for wants a demo cover for a CD. He is wearing a red flannel shirt (it is suppose to be funny/outdoors type cover). The expression he has and every other thing is just perfect but I want to replace the plaid with a color and /or another pattern(such as a dark blue denim). Is it possible to do so without losing the lines/folds of the shirt? I know I can play with the hue/saturation but that still leaves me with the horrible plaid pattern.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've run into this problem with different sketch types when curves cross each other and are trimmed, or when patterned sketches are coincident. The problem I'm having is that I'm creating a ratchet wheel and I'm patterning a sketch in two parts so that the spacing for the teeth line up. What I do first is draw the angled line of the tooth, do a circular pattern of 20 teeth around the origin, an then create an arc from the bottom point of each line to the tip of the next line to create the back of the tooth. When I try to extrude it, it says the loop is not closed, but when I do the repair, it says it overconstrains the sketch and is not possible. I've tried creating this profile using a center circle that intersects the bottom of the teeth and it does not work either. I was able to make the profile I needed by making one tooth, extruding it, patterning the feature, and then creating a circular sketch in the middle and extruding it. The problem with this (aside from requiring additional steps not needed in other programs) is that when I needed to go back and change tooth dimensions, it can't rebuild the sketch.
I attached two different sketches of the non-closed profile as well as the solid ratchet piece that I made using the pattern feature command that has the teeth that can't be easily edited.
I'd like to crop a circle out of an patterned image.

I'm driving this sub-assembly with a quantity parameter and when addition instances are created, the hidden part turns visible. I can bring the sub-assembly in multiple times and the parts remains non-visible, however, once I pattern it, the part shows up in all instances except for the original.

I have created my own Patterned Curtain wall Family and applied it to a conceptual mass, I have not added any parameters as I'm not too familiar with this aspect of Revit. The corners of the building do not align allowing viewing straight into the interior.
I have attached the model in my dropbox so you can fully understand my problem..

I am also interested in applying glass to some of the hexagon patterns instead of steel to act as windows. At the moment I'm just turning the transparency up on individual patterns .
I'm trying to conform a couple of thin films on top of each other to a complex shape. I am trying to conform the one in this picture: [URL].......
My final result should look exactly like "untitled.3.jpg", but with the gold and silver patterns seen at the link to the website on top of the silver film.
I've tried the "cloth" modifier, but it seems it only works to conform planes and not solids. I've also looked at "flex" and "skin", but still no luck.
What modifier would be best to accomplish this? I would like to be able to tune how much the film conforms to the surface.
Here's the CAD model for the assembled thin films: [URL].......
And the model for the red object: [URL]......
Different filetypes, the first is a ProE file, the second is a Solidworks file.
Is there a way to invert my selection so that I can subtract or extrude the circles instead of the area around them? As is now, I have to select every circle to subtract them from the shape.

Having some trouble with some annotative hatches. Notably ones with patterns in them? I am testing them out in multiple viewports of various scales and for the most part they work great. But every so often in a particular viewport they either disappear altogether or shrink to a smaller size and bring my AutoCAD to a dead crawl?

is there a way to create an associative array of posts so I only have to edit one part to have the entire array change? that is, I want to have global values for the dimensions in the picture below: post diametervertical width between post centreshorizontal width between post columns (again, centre to centre)vertical shift of each column w.r.t. previous one I've used the Rectangular Pattern tool to create a repetition of my posts, but I want to shift each column of posts up slightly with respect to the one before as in the attached picture:
It seems that if you want to repeat along non-perpendicular axes like this, Inventor fails if there are too many repeats. I came across this when searching the site:
[URL]
I can verify that this is my exact problem but can add that in my example, 4 repeats on the almost horizontal axis and 3 on the vertical work fine. However, 3 almost horizontal axis repeats by 4 vertical axis repeats will only work if I choose the vertical axis as Direction 2. (Is this a bug or am I trying to use the Rectangular Pattern Tool incorrectly?)
The repeat unit can be simplified to 1 circle with 2 construction lines along the repeat Direction instead of the 2x2 circles shown here but the problem persists. Also
I have a drawing that has a white background.
I would like to add more to the white background to make it bigger without having to stretch it and distort the image.
I want to place a circle shaped outline border around the original image with a set border thickness and color and be able to crop/remove the portion of the image beyond the outline, changing it from a square/rectangle image to a circular image.
If I am not able to change the drawing to have a round outer border from square, how can I make the outer parts past the newly created circular outline transparent?
Per the attached exhibit, how to get the plot border to cover the entire sheet border instead of just the bottom left corner.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI want to make a border for something. The border is basically a christmas light border around some text. What I did was I took a picture of one lightbulb and edited it so that I just got the lightbulb (no background or anything...). What I want to do is basically create a border from that single light bulb by alternating the colors of the bulb (like how you can with a brush). Can I create a new brush out of that light bulb? I coulda sworn I've done it before, and there was a lesson on brushes in the book... But I can't figure out how. Or maybe theres a way to get around it by doing a some sort of border?

Just seeing CS6 for the first time and trying to warm up to it. There were several annoyances I have been able to revert back to normal, but this one thing I can't seem to make go away.
The marquee crosshair used to be displayed with 1 pixel lines, now it has a 1px border around the entire crosshair when it is over a dark color. Is there a way to get rid of that border? It just feels a little cumbersome, and sort of annoys me. I would rather it not be there.
