I am very new to photography and Lightroom 3.4 64 bit. I have a photo of an apple on the table. I want to get the photo black and white (did that already). Now I want the apple it self to remain its own red color. How do I do that?
Also, I have this apple and its reflection is on the knife that is cutting the apple. How can I get that in color too?

I'm not sure if you can do this but if any of you have seen the Itunes Color Effects app, I'm wondering if there is a way to keep color in one part of a photo while making the rest B&W? I know how to make it B&W & I can't get it to work with the paint bucket or anything like that.

I scanned a black and white print in color and am trying to replace all the black with dark green. Been trying for hours in elements 9. This is all so hard. Just to ask this question I have typed it into 3 different screens, set screenname, many other hurdles.

Any way of converting a black object to a grey object? We have a product that is made of black plastic with metal surround and I desperately need an image of the same product with grey plastic, but keeping the detail and metal finish.

I would like to make the black background of the image below tranparent so I can paste it on something else. I tried blending modes (the best were screen and linear dodge), but it would not look good on a white background. I do not want to use magic wand, because it would not look so natural and blended. Is there any way, using alpha channels maybe, to make the black transparent?

I have a picture that I would like to make black and white but with some colour. From what I can gather, I've to make the picture black and white and then add the colour to the bits I need after, however, the bit I want to remain in colour is a flower and the way the light hits it, the red is in different shades, making it impossible for me to colour it back exactly how it is.
Is there a simpler way...like select the parts I want to go black and white?

I wanted to make a decal to place on the acrylic window of my PC. I found the perfect picture, which is in black and white. For it to look right though, I need to switch the black to white, and vice versa. Is there a way with Photoshop to automatically switch these, instead of having to manually switch them.

I am having some trouble clearing out the backgrounds of certain images. I'm taking images and want to quickly delete out any pixels not on the product I'm shooting (make all pixels white). Once I have my selection I go to "Edit" and then "Clear". Instead of making the selection white, it makes the entire selection black.

Why when I use green for foreground color and go to Fill and use the option of Foreground color the selection is filled with black? Also why when I open a file with a green square, it also turns to black? And since I am asking questions, how do I get back the ability to get content and search within photoshop, instead of always being directed to Adobe online? I am using CS5.

I have a color picture which I took, of a red berry bush. I want to remove all the color except for the red from the berries. I know how to lasso the berries, but I can't remove the color from the bush/background and leave the red berries.
Note: I did this once a couple years ago, and can't remember how I did it..I have some memories, but probably remember just enough to make me dangerous. I have done some searches but obviously the results are numeorus and I haven't found what I am looking for yet.
I know the solution involves selecting the berries and then inversing it and then setting all 3 colors to 0 for the background.
What I can do is
1) lasso the berries
2) inverse
what I can't figure out
1) it seems like there was 1 step about layering which enabled me to get started, but I don't remember this, it does seem like I am missing something very basic when I try to do this
3) Where is the color scale, the only thing I can find is the grayscale option which switches the entire project to black and white.

Somehow I've turned off the color selection so that I don't have a color when I select a part of a drawing on a layer. The drawing area stays black whether I have selected it or not and I don't know how to turn back on the color.
how I can turn on the color again so that when I select a line it changes from black to red or magenta or whatever?

I am new to Gimp and would like to ask if there is a way to make a good worn out effect more or less like this on a black logo. The problem is that they are using a fork for it and I am a student and can't afford a fork.
The aim is to make a black print on transparent background with transparent scratched "holes". Are there any tips how to do this?

Probably this is not the appropriate place to post this question, but I chose to do so, cause Ps users might know better.
If you want a color to be more subtle, or put it another way, make it stand less among other element or/and colors what you would to?Increase opacity, reduce its saturation or something else?

Does anyone know if there is a way to import a text file, or another type of file, into color swatches to make a custom pallet?
We have to type in over 8,000 swatches, and I was hoping there might be an easier way to do it, rather than making a new color and then making a new swatch.

I'm VERY new to PhotoShop and I've used the search feature here and can't find the answer to my problem. If this has been asked many times I apologize. I have a logo which I've scanned. It's just two colors, white and black. I'd like to make the white transparent and while I'm sure this should be easy I am unable to get it to work. Can anyone give me an idea how to do it.

there are 2 types of color wheel used for making color schemes, one is R-G-B color wheel where Red Green and Blue colors are 120 degrees apaert, which is easy to make with spectrum gradients in photoshop,
other one is traditional R-Y-B color wheel where red yellow and blue colors are 120 degrees apart,
how to make that tradtional R-Y-B color wheel in photoshop? i tried so hard, it doesnt come accurately and involves lots of mathematical calculations ?

I am wanting to select all colors from a certain image and have a color palette. I need this to send to a fabric printer, which will be printing digitally.
When I load the image into either PS6 or AI6, what is the easiest way to sort these colors? When I use a color table, I am getting too broad of a selection of colors.
Also, I will need either the pantone or RGB #s of each color in the image. I've been making a swatch palette and then selecting each image with an eyedropper to write down the numbers.

I'm working on a website that allows people to choose different template colors for their websites. I'm going to be using style sheets to load the different templates so that parts already done.
Each one of my templates will have 10 different color schemes that they can choose from. Each template is based off of a photoshop document. I want to be able to create one template and apply different color scheme changes to it for each template that I need.
Pretty much I'm hoping to have 10 base colors that I can apply to the document that would update the document's color scheme.

I added some new color swatches to a blank, new set.
[URL]..........
I would like this new set to appear as an option in the list of available sets.
[URL].......
I've saved it to the presets folder. I've tried every option to save/load. It just won't appear in that list.

I really like the effect in this poster. I see this effect all the time taking one color and making it light and dark in different areas. Like the banner on this site, but can never do it myself.

I'm working on a project where I want to work on the tones and saturation of the black color. I can easily adjust all other colors, but have difficulty getting a blacker black.
In the Hue/Saturation and Levels I can adjust some things, but the black color gets greytoned instead of becoming more black and crispy color.

I tried to set a color photo over top of a black and white one to airbrush away enough to expose the backround (the grayscale pic) but when I tried to copy onto the first layer, it turned my color photo to grayscale. I tried this with the gray pic locked and unlocked. What did I do wrong, or can this even be done?
