I rebuilt my line on white background from Rich2005 and Ofnuts. My latest version is darker, smoother higher res and wider (see attached).
The problem now are stray pixels, many of them unattached to the line itself. I spent a lot of time with an eraser, but still haven't gotten them all. THERE MUST BE A BETTER WAY!
I found this excellent link on the subject. [URL] RobA even has a script to do what I want. However, I don't think it is GIMP 2.8 compatible, as I can't seem to find it to run it.

I have accidentally made my drawing in black and shades of black (grey) on a white background in Photoshop. Is there a way I can delete the white pixels only and then have only the grey and black pixels remaining? If possible, I don’t want a hard pixellated edge where the white and grey/black pixels meet.
What I want remaining is only the black and grey lines with a transparent background.

This is probably really basic but... I'm a printer and only really use Photoshop for changing RGB to CMYK, clear cutting (with Vertus fluid mask) and things like that. However a lot of the photos I have to clear cut have been done already but not saved (or given to me to use) with the transparency still there. Is there some easy way to turn all the white pixels into transparency? Obviously you'd have to mask any white pixels in the image you wanted to keep. A sample is attached.

I seem to be having problems when I lasso round a specific part of a photo taken with a white background and then try to add that part of the image to a plain #000000 black background.
I always seem to get a white outline around the image when I place it on the black background, even when its on ZERO feathered. I don't like using feathered as it adds a smudge round the outside of the image.

I would like to draw parts in 3d view which look very basic, i.e. out of a book.
Example:
white block with black lines so you can see it is 3d.background should also be white.
How do i set autocad (2012/2013) to do this. I would like the model space to be the same and not just for printing.

When I zoom in close enough to see individual pixels, PP puts a grid of white lines over the image. Each cell of the grid contains one pixel.
How can I get rid of this grid of white lines.

I need to create an outline map for another application. The world is demarcated into areas, separated by black lines. The map must only have black & white pixels.
Some questions about using GIMP for this.
1. Is there a tool I can use to make every non-white pixel black?
2. Is there a tool I can use to eliminate isolated pixels of the wrong color (that is for me a black pixel with all neighbors white or vice versa)?
3. Is there a tool I can use to make the black lines thinner? It is desirable in my application to have the lines be only 1 pixel wide

Whenever I try to use the 'Colour to Alpha' tool, while it works on most of the image, I always get little white dots left behind, and have to spend ages use the eraser tool to get rid of them.

I am using a pdf underlay to trace over and whenever the crosshair or pickbox enters a white area it does not shift color to black to remain visible. This leaves me picking randomly trying to guess where the crosshair or pickbox is. If I change the 3dconfig to disable hardware acceleration, the color shifts, but the pdf is whited out. Not to mention the fact that by disabling hardware acceleration, I'm wasting the expensive video card on the machine. Is there a workaround? updated driver? service pack?

Okay so I'm trying to take the white background off of a picture using the select a color on white, but it takes out a lot or the fur and eyes(it's a picture of a cartoon cat) How can I remove the areas of can from the selection without removing the pieces of cat too.
It's creative commons, so I guess I can post screen shots...
The cat is from [URL]...
A general idea of the selected area
What happens when I take out the selected area
So how can I take the pieces of the cat out of the selected area so when I try to delete the background I don't get an invisible cat?

I created a logo and then opened it as a layer so that I can make a website header image. It is shown here [URL] and as you can see the background is an off-white colour. It is probably unnoticeable to many, but I would prefer to get it right. How can I make the background a pure white so that it blends in with the white of the wordpress theme?

When I am exporting a jpg from CorelDraw X6, I keep getting random columns of white pixels to the right of the graphic image. If I switch the matte color in the export dialogue to black, I get random amounts of black pixels. In X4, when I would export a jpg, the resulting file would be cropped right to the image edge, with no extra pixels. I'm getting anywhere from 1 to as many as 8 columns of extra pixels on the right hand side, which is problematic for utilizing the resulting files for page layout.
I achieve the same results when choosing "Export for Office" and "Export for Web".
I'm running a 64-bit install on a Win 7 64-bit box.

I have an image with an transparent background. I want to change all pixels that are not the background to one color. How do I do this? I can't select the pixels, they as arbitrariliy distibuted. I've played with threshold, but that's not working either. I tried Image-->Mode -> Indexed and then Use black and white palette, but that doesn't work either. I thought i would convert all non-transparent values to black, but instead its picking some threshold and making some black and others transparent. Example file attached.

I'm really enjoying Xara Designer 6 these days except for this one problem that is popping up in all my exported images. all of the text in my images are surrounded by intermittent blue pixels which makes the text less crisp or even muddy.
The McDaily Deals text on the following facebook page is an example. Zoom in on the image to see what I'm talking about URL....

If I am constantly making frames in photoshop for use in the video world (ie. They will be on TV) the pixels need to be rectangular (or 4x3) in aspect and not square.
I know in programs like After Effects and Combustion you can set when saving an image whether or not it is square or rectangular pixels.
How do I do this in Photoshop if it can be done?

I am using Photoshop CS4 on a new ultrabook running Windows 8. My video card is up to date. However, on this computer I cannot get the background to show up white. It shows up off-white or creamy. I thought it might be the screen, but the images print with the creamy color. I reset the color picker to 255-255-255, and also reset my preferences.

When I open my company's logo (an EPS file) in Photoshop, it has a transparent background (the "checkered" one), which I DO want. But then when I Select All/Copy/Paste Special into my Word documents, it comes over with a white background. I do not want this, especially because the Word document has a gray background. So what happens is, the logo looks like it has a white box around it. HOW do I copy and paste this EPS file into Word so that the background stays transparent??

A friend had an image created, of a star, and cannot get hold of the person who created it. She's asked me but i have a problem, how to remove the background so you just have the star so that you can layer it on another background? I tried this a few weeks ago, changed it onto a transparent layer. Weird thing is when you put it onto another background, the transparent layer suddenly changes to a white background!
