View 2 Repliesmy old computer recently died, and i reinstalled Ps-CS5 (windows7) on my new computer. now my default plug-in filters (like "pixilate" and "artistic") are greyed-out and unusable
View 2 Replies View RelatedUsing Photoshop CC I cannot apply any filter to a converted layer into a Smart Object if I select only a channel instead of RGB channel..Let me explain it with an example:
Â
I create a new layer.Convert it into smart layer (vÃa menu Filters > Convert… or secondary clic hover the layer, it doesn't matter).
Select only one channel, p.e. green channel.Try to apply a filter… oh, wait! They all appears greyed out
This NOT happens in previous versions of PS, like CS6 or CS5. Neither if I select RGB channel. It happens on 8 bits or 16 bits.
I finished editing my panorama in adobe photoshop elements 11 and want to add a filter to it, however, the filters are all greyed out. Not only that, but the 8bit/channel option is also greyed out. The picture is RGB/8.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I send an LR photo for editing in PS CC, some of the filters are greyed out: artistic, brush strokes, distort, pixelate, sketch, and texture. but when I open the photo directly in PS, they are there.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have hardly ever used filters for any of my work as I have preferred using Xara's native tools and effects to get what I wanted. But recently, I was inspired by some animation work which used backgrounds painted in Photoshop. They used a lot of textures which enhanced the look of the animation and so I thought I'd try to simulate it within Xara.
It works very well and I can export it as a PSD retaining the layers and Alpha channel. But here come my questions.
1. How can I remove the two Alien Skin demo plugins as I already have the full versions.
2. Why don't the native Photoshop plugins--Artistic, Sketch, etc.--seem to work?
In CS3 you could change something to make all filters act like smart filters, even though they won't. I found this worked very well, now I have CS4 and would like to do the same but can't remember what to do to make it work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working on a dormitory project and need to provide a required light and ventilation schedule. I have figured out how to create a schedule for each level, but I want to isolate only the Dormitories and the Kitchenette (weed out all the other rooms such as corridor, elevator, storage, toilets, showers, stairs, trash, electrical, etc.).
Â
I tried using seclusion filters, but there are too many items to exclude and cannot fit them all into the 4 filter categories.  I am trying to just get the rooms that begin with 'D' and 'K'. I tried providing the variable 'Begins With' for D and in the next line 'Begins With' K, but then nothing shows up.
Â
Is there a way to provide information to the filter that would allow it to show only rooms beginning with D AND K? I cannot seem to get it to work. I have been playing around with separation values within one filter category (i.e. 'Begins With' D, K) but apparently you cannot add multiple variables within one of the filter items.
Alright, I was working in an RGB doc in PS and sloppily attempted to Command + Z. Instead of undoing my last step I somewhow converted my entire canvas to grey-scale colors. I checked and I'm still in RGB.

When trying to access the 3D menu in Photoshop it is greyed-out. The only item selectable is 'Get More Content'
Is it a system issue? That's strange because I have plenty of RAM.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 64bit, and I have 2 AMD Radeon 6950's in crossfire. It has only been a couple of months since I used CS6's create 3D extrusion layer, and it used to work fine, but now it's greyed out no matter what type of layer I'm selected on. Photoshop is seeing my graphics card just fine [URL] and even says that 3D is an enabled feature if I mouse-over the Graphics Processor Settings box. I have the latest 12.8 AMD drivers. So, something between Photoshop and my graphics card are no longer playing nice - maybe an AMD Catalyst software setting? Although I've made sure that all my settings were restored back to default. I should also note that all other GPU enhancement features that I'm aware of seem to be working fine (like the quick zoom rendering, etc.)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Adobe CS4 Extended, and I've been trying to use the 3d features ever since I watched John Nack demo it over on pixel perfect. But for me, the entire 3d menu is greyed out. I have enable GPU acceleration, but in order for it to work, I had to download the patch to allow older GPU's. My current graphics card is an Nvidia 8400GS. Nothing special, but it does all of the other GPU accelerated stuff such as rotation and zooming fine, so I'm puzzled as to why 3d wont work.
View 23 Replies View RelatedUntil recently I have been able to use my CS2 Photoshop. I believe the only change I have had was adding a new monitor. I began toget an error message when I started Photoshop, and was unable to use Photoshop at all. Then after reading information, I changed the monitor profile. After this, Photoshop loads without any error messages, but all the menu items are greyed out and unavailable. In addition the red exit button at the top right hand corner of my screen is also unavailable and greyed out. The only way I can nowshut down Photoshop is through Task Manager. I am able to use all the other programs in CS2 without any issues.

"About Photoshop" is greyed out. Can't tell what version I have. I need to duplicate a layer in a high res RGB image. The LAYER, CHANNELS, PATH palettes have all options greyed out, except "convert to smart object", which I don't know yet what that is. The image is in 8 bits/channel.
I'm following a Julieanne tutorial on using Lens Blurs (HERE at 3:36) Basically, adding a 'Field' 'Iris' or 'Tilt-Shift' blur to an image that I've converted into a Smart Object. I've followed each step but when I go to the blur filters in the 'Filter' drop-down, the top 3 new filters mentioned above are greyed out. If I don't convert the image into a smart object, they're accessible but not with the image converted into a smart object as per the tutorial.

I have Photoshop CS5 extended and a Mac with OSX 10.6.8. I was altering the 1st and only layer in my .psd file by filling areas with the "content aware" setting. (The background is blank.) It was working great, too! Then suddenly the "fill" selection under "edit" was greyed out, as well as most of the other things on the edit menu. It doesn't matter what I try to select in that layer.
Â
I shut down Photoshop and restarted my computer, but it didn't work. Duplicating the layer didn't work, either. I CAN fill and stroke in the background layer.
I'm pretty much a complete newbie to PS and I'd like to do some tilt shift editing.
The problem is that the lens blur option is greyed out. Can anyone tell me how I can get around this?
I can use all the blur options apart from the lens, radial and smart blurs.
For reference I'm using Photoshop CS (version 8).
Why are my menu items greyed out until I hit a tool icon?Example .....open Photoshop, click "FILE" = everything greyed out except "recent" whose submenu (list of recent files) greyed out. If I hit any tool icon, menu items appear.ALSO .....eyes on layers have no effect ubtil I click elsewhere, navigator panel empty until I click an increase or decrease there, etc. I need to always click elsewhere for something to happen.I am running Vista Ultimate with a high capacity video card. You will be able to view and download the entire file at the following URL (since this site only allows 100kb files):
The goal is outlined in the above link but to recap:
1. Remove greyish / silver color
2. Adjust black color (for example: so that groom's hair shows up as something other than a chunk of dark color).
3. Fix Blemishes.
Just installed Photoshop CS4. Few problems I'm noticing: - On startup, most menu items under all the top menu are greyed out. It starts with the marquee tool selected, and if I select another tool (like the selection tool),the greyed out items (like File->Open) work and stay working. - I can't close PS CS4 after startup if I don't first select a different tool other then the default (marquee) - I installed a couple extensions via the Extention Manger and they do not show up under Window->Extensions (it's greyed out always). I've uninstalled and reinstalled, did all my Vista Ultimate updates (including SP1). Any thoughts would be appreciated. I've got a top end (well was last year) video card, lots of ram and disk, etc..Dell XPS410 system loaded. Â
