Photoshop :: Does CS5.1 Support TWAIN Plugin On Mac OS X V 10.7.4
Sep 4, 2012
I am running Photoshop CS5.1 Extended V 12.1 in 32 bit mode on a Mac OS X 10.7.4 and followed instructions to install the TWAIN plug-in as written here:

I restarted Photoshop, but the TWAIN plug-in does not appear in file/import dropdown as it did in my earlier version of Photoshop.

Is the TWAIN plugin supported in CS5.1 and Mac OS 10.7? If so, troubleshoot why the plug-in does not appear in my file/import dropdown list?
P.S. I prefer to use the TWAIN plug-in because I am very familiar with the TWAIN driver and how to manipulate scanner settings to get a scanned image that represents my original artwork. I am testing the recommended VueScan and it offers more than the epson scanner driver on the mac, but I can get more work done in less time with a TWAIN plug-in because there's no learning curve.
Is there a TWAIN plug-in for Photoshop CC? (I saw the June 2013 query; any updates since then?) This is for a Windows 7, 64 bit installation, using an Epson Perfection 2400 scanner. If not, any work around beside buying Vuescan?
I am about to upgrade from CS5 to CS6. I found that CS5 automatically installed in 32 and 64 bit in my Windows 7 64 bit PC. I use 32 bit to scan as it has a TWAIN plug in, and 64 bit to manipulate images as the File Automate Batch causes the 32 bit program to crash with the plug in - but I really want to go on with TWAIN . There is a plug in for the CS6, (for the 32bit version) so I just wanted to know that it does instal in both versions as did its predecessor.
After installing the TWAIN Plugin for CS4 form the CS4 disk into my Applications/Photoshop/Plug-ins/Import-Export folder, it does not appear in the import menu after Photoshop relaunch. Â Using Mac OSX 10.6.8
upgrading to either one of these products as my current versions do not appear to support the panasonic raw file format rw2 but would like to know if the latest versions do support this format before I buy.
having some major problems, just bought a D800, upgraded my pc with a 64 bit os and more ram, re-installed all my programs and cant open my files in PSE, its saying its the wrong files type, go to update pse10 and im getting an error cose u41m1c212, have downloaded a dng converter and trying to download acr 6.7.1 .
I am pretty new to maya, and have been trying to export my model to FBX format in order to use it in my XNA game.
Problem is, whenever I export, maya gives me an error window saying "Warning: unable to export some materials", and "The plug-in does not support the following material types: Material mia_material_x_passes14 will be exported as a grey Lambert material" 7 times in the 'description' part of the error window.
I have a legal copy of cs3 suite (design) and i have just receive my new apple pro.
I have connected my epson 2450 scanner by firewire and installed the suite.
Also installed the twain driver from Epson site. But photoshop CS3 does not see any scanner connected and i get the nessage that no twain resource is installed (from help--> system info).
There is a problem with my Dell 944 printer twain scanner and Adobe Photoshop Twain. Photoshop crashes I know how to turn off twain in Abobe Photoshop the problem is I can't scan from Photoshop when I do that. I was able to roll back the driver in the past to correct problem but for some reason thats not working.
I have CS5 Design Standard on a Macbook Pro OS 10.6.8 . I tried downloading the twain plugin and dragging into applications/ PSCS5/plug-ins/import-export then relaunching as instructed on Adobe website. Nothing. The plug-in is there but no twain interface for the scanner appears as an option under file import in PS. The scanner is an older Epson Perfection 1250. The latest driver for the scanner is installed.  (IMHO Twain should be a standard part of the Adobe suite. Scanners are universal, especially for users of graphics programs.)
I just replaced a Windows XP computer & Photoshop lite 5.0 with Photoshop CS6 on a Windows 7 PC, but the TWAIN driver (64-bit) from the Canon website doesn't show up in Photoshop CS6. The CanoScan LiDE 500F scanner worked fine before, but how do I make it all work with Windows 7 and CS6?Â
I just transferred my stuff from my old G4 to a new Mac Pro and I'm having a few hiccups along the way.
I had it working ok a few days ago and now I can't use my scanner because that Twaine software that CS2 uses to import from the scanner etc. has disappeared.
I've tried to find a place to download it but I'm not having any luck, you'd think that Adobe would include it with the CD but they didn't .
I have an hp Photo smart C6380 all in one that I use for scanning. In Photoshop CS4, I just choose File, Import, then choose the TWAIN option. But in CS5, the TWAIN option is not available. How do I add this in CS5? (I am working on a Windows XP machine.)Â
I just got an HP pavilion d7 computer running Vista Home Premium (64) on a 2gb processor with 4gb RAM. I successfully installed CS3, entered the license code and activated the software, but when I try to run Photoshop CS3, I get the infamous Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working properly error at the screen where it says it is building TWAIN menu items. I've tried the licensing update from Adobe with no success. I've tried running it as administrator, using the compatibility mode...no success. I'm at my wits end. Incidentally, I tried installing the PSE7 trial (because I was going to buy it next week) and that gives me the same error whenever I try to access the Editor.
I recently purchased a new computer (PC) with a Windows XP OS. I needed to reload Photoshop 6.0, which I was using on my previous computer (Windows 98SE). Everything seemed OK, except that I could no longer import images from my scanner through Photoshop. If I select "import" in the file menu, instead of showing my Canon scanner as the TWAIN destination, it merely shows "annotations."
Now...After encountering this problem, I downloaded and installed the update for Photoshop 6.0 and installed it. I also downloaded from the Adobe site a Plug-In update. This, I thought, would probably fix the problem. And it did...sort of. I installed the updates as instructed, opened Photoshop, and still my scanner was not showing up.
Then at some point I inadvertently clicked on one of the plug-in downloads mentioned above...a plug-in.dll file. When I did that, Photoshop immediately opened and the scanner was there! So, I created a shortcut to the file on my desktop. If I click on it, the program will open up and I can scan through Photoshop. If I open Photoshop using the regular icon on the desktop, though the program will seem to work normally in every other respect, I does not recognize my scanner.
I have a Canon CanoScan 8800F and I can scan from CS3 just fine for a little while, but eventually, it will give me the following errors: "ScanGear: Cannot communicate with scanner. Cable may be disconnected or scanner turned off. Check status. Scanner driver will be closed." followed by: "Could not open the TWAIN source. Make sure there is a valid source for your scanner in the TWAIN directory in the Windows directory" If I reboot my computer, I can scan through Photoshop again, but only for a few minutes. Anyone have any tips or suggestions? I've updated the drivers for the scanner and I'm running the most up-to-date version of CS3.
I recently tried to open photoshop 7, however the programme starts to load, but freezes when trying to load TWAIN! I have carried out a logistics test and the following message kept on appearing - Adobe Photoshop 7 (380) CF Log (21) : get disc fragment returns- 2851 for TWAIN > when trying to load / System / Library / Frameworks / TWAIN. framework / TWAIN.
Further to this Indesign will not load, instead a message appears Cannot load Indesign because it requires Photoshop Import filter. Please install Photoshop Import Filter plug in and restart. As mentioned I am at a complete loss, both programmes working before. The only thing I can possibly think of is that I loaded the software for my new digital camera, this being a Nikon Coolpix 7900 and the software is Picture Project 1.1, then decided I did not require the software, so deleted it. I wonder if this has anything to do with it. I have since re loaded the software, however Photoshop is still not working.
I've downloaded the Twain driver for Photoshop CS6 from Adobe and copied the Twain.plugin file to the Photoshop Plugin directory in Applications. I'm using a Mac with 10.6.8. I then restarted CS6 but there isn't a mention of 'Twain' in the Import menu? So also not my scanner. Which is an Epson Stylus SX130.
having problems with our new Minolta Pro? Using CS and when accessing the TWAIN for the scanner--it is still giving us errors pertaining to the SCSI ID (error #4 cannot locate SCSI ID or # ) We switched out the SCSI card for a Firewire?? How do we fool photoshop CS and XP Pro >> into thinking the firewire is the access to the Minolta?? Code:
I've just installed the CS3 beta on my Intel Mac. Everything is fine except...
I can't get my Canoscan 9900F to work. When I select File > Import, it should list the ScanGear 8.2 Twain driver but it doesn't.
I've manually placed the plugin in the CS > Plugins folder, and I've used the ScanGear installer to do the same. The plug in is there in the Finder, but doesn't load.
When I look at the system info from within CS3 (Help > System Info...) right at the bottom of the log is the message: Installed TWAIN devices: NONE.
It's hard to believe that TWAIN would be disabled in the beta.
Just installed Elements 12. Added the TWAIN driver according to the site instructions. Still see no TWAIN import option or menu? How do I get to this?
I have bought a new iMac (OS Lion) and am manually migrating all my stuff from an older Mac G5 tower (OS Tiger). I have installed the Canon 5600F scanner software and did an upgrade from the Canon site and all seems to be working well. I also downloaded a new (old one was not recognised) TWAIN plugin from Adobe and put it in the Photoshop C4 plugins folder marked Import-Export. My problem is that in Photoshop it is showing the 5600F scanner in the Import menu but does nothing when I click on it. I have rebooted everything but it does nothing.
Is it possible to have a look at the sourcecode oft Paint? I am having trouble with a Nikon Coolscan IV Scanner. I am using at the moment twaindotnet. Do you have a better library?
to the spash screen and noticed a 5-second lag as PS tries "Building TWAIN Menu Items." The lag appears to be consistent no matter how many times you relaunch PS 7.0.1 so clearly this process isn't cached. Other than this, Photoshop actually loads fast on my P4 2.6GHz,1GB RAM, 64Mb GeForce 4, 60GB 7200rpm HD Dell Inspiron 8500.
I have a CanoScan N1220U USB scanner that I use occasionally with another application so I wonder if it's possible to disable PS from searching TWAIN devices?
