Windows xp-PS-CS3: How Can I add "select next document" to a new action?
Select next document is included in the default "rotate" Action
I am writing an action and I want to select the next layer (up or down) for processing. Much like Layer>Arrange does except it relocates the layer up or down, I want to highlight a layer (up or down) for processing. If I click on the layer to select it in the action, then when I run the action on another photo, the action say it cant find the layer name (from the photo I used to build the action). Is there a key combination to do this ?   Like 'CMD [' and 'CMD ]' does for Layer> Arrange.
View 6 Replies View RelatedHow can I select a document by its name? I have about 40 image files open, in which I'm attempting to create an action to copy elements from numerous documents into a common one. (which I've named "Common File") However when playing this back, the action script refers to this document differently each time I've selected it.. sometimes its called "document-42" then it refers to it as "previous document" or "next document"I'm completely lost when trying to troubleshoot my actions without a proper document name. Is there a way to circumvent this? thanks Jeff

I've recorded the following steps successfully:
Layout
copy
<Enter>
<Enter>
and
mspace
-pan

I would like to know the command for selecting the last layout tab. Without using right-click functions which, as I know of, are not recorded?
How can you select the last layer in an Illustrator file with an action?
Â
It must be possible. After all it's 2012....
I need to create an action. A simple one. The idea: One path is selected, a user runs the action, it makes a copy of that path, moves the copy, select both the path and its copy and makes a blend.
Â
I tried to record that action, but Illustrator does not record the paths selection/selecting.
Â
Even a simplier task: How, in general, having one path selected, select an item/path above or below it? And how to select them both?
Â
I can make a script for that, but the requirement is to keep it as simple as possible: have an Action only without any scripts, if possible.
How do I select to print a document without margins?

I am wondering if there is a way to use the "select same fill color" and/or "stroke color" for just a group of objects in a document as opposed to document-wide.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to select every object with the color "CutContour" So far I've been trying:
Â
myDoc.selection = myDoc.spots.getByName("CutContour");Â I guess this obviouslly wouldn't work though because myDoc.selection is looking for an array of objects. However, I can't figure out how to loop through all the objects in the document and check to see if they contain the SpotColor.
Â
I want to use the Select > Same > Stroke Color , but I heard that using that in Javascript isn't available unless you have CS6 (which I currently don't). Is it true that accessing menu items through scripting is a feature in CS6?
I'm on Illy CS2, windows xp.
I want to open a doc, run a script that selects all paths of a color, say 255,0,0 or 50,0,20,4 and changes that color to black or another color I specify and also changes the stroke. Is this possible? I can't see how i would do it?
If i want select objects that same fill color in document, I can use 'select - same - Fill color' function in Illustrator.
Â
It's so fast. below 1 second.
Â
But, If i want make it in Javascript, I can't do it like fast.
 Â
for(i=0; i<activeDocument.pathItems.length; i++){...}
 Â
If document have 10,000 objects, above script can't finish in even 60 seconds.
Â
How Illustrator can traversal fast?
Â
Is there something other way?
We need a script that select all pattern objects in the active document in illustrator.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI know this discussion title is a bit murky, but the problem is a bit odd. I have Photoshop CS6 v13.1.2. In this version, I will activate the Select Tool, check Auto-Select: Layer, check Show Transform Controls, and then while using the Select Tool I will drag to create a rectangle to select multiple layers with content within the specified area.Â
Unfortunately, this action only works when I begin the selection from outside of the canvas area. If started from within the canvas area, no rectangle will appear, it will show me a measurement of my selection size, and then no layers will be selected upon release.
Â
This cannot be working as intended right? I mean multi-select dragging cannot be intended to only work when started outside of the canvas right? Is there some way to fix this issue? Is this a bug? See the images below for more information on this issue.
I work with shapes all day designing mobile apps. Thus, I'm constantly selecting and resizing rounded rectangles. When resizing I have to individually select all four points of a side to move it without distorting the rounded corners. I cannot click and drag, because that will activate any shapes underneath the one I want to select.
Â
I'm looking for a plugin or alternative to easily select the entire side of a rounded rectangle. IE - I click one point on a side, and it auto selects all four points on that side, or the like.
I remember being able to select anything on the canvas with my Quick Select tool in CS5.5 Photoshop Extended. Recently, making the switch to CC, the Quick Select tool will show my slection as I drag along the canvas, but once I release the mouse, the selection seems to be reduced to the visible pixels. I was intentionally trying to fill the transparent sections with my effects as well.
Â
Mind you, the magic wand will select transparent pixels just fine, but it also adds unintentional sections which is irritating. I should probably also pint out that I already looked into the "lock transparence" option in the layers, but I did not activate anything of the sort.
if there are keyboard shortcut keys to these two operations?
1. Selecting a different layer than the active layer w/ keyboard key and selecting an item on that layer on the canvas?
2. Shortcut key strokes to select > Transform > Scale?
Wondering if theres a plugin/feature for asto highlighting (sort of a preselect object) as in photoshop.
I have kinda got used to this in PS but am hoping theres a PDN equivalent?
i am trying to build an action where the end product is a channel listing that has all the channel (R-G-B-L-C-Y-M-K (forget LAB a-b)). this will allow me to look at all the channels for contrast and subsequent extraction. i'm actually able to do this as i RECORD the action. but when i RUN the action, nothing happens.
in recording the action, i create a DUPLICATE IMAGE, then convert the new image to LAB. i then drag the "L" channel to the original image. it goes into the original image as an alpha channel which i rename to "Lightness." i then convert the duplicate image to CMYK and then one-by-one DRAG the individual channels to the original image. at the end of this process, i have all eight channels visible in the channels palette. this is what i want.
but then, when i RUN the action on a new image, the action fails to RECORD the "drag step and drop" step. the "L," "C," etc. channels are not dragged during the running of the action.
why does the "drag" step not record in the action
I have two questions for CS4, which may not be possible, and I didn't find in the feature forums.Â
Â
1) Is there a way to do a color range selection created from all the colors that were selected from the magic wand tool. See attached image one.
Â
2) Is there a way to crop an image based on histogram? For example if I wanted to remove all px that were above level 200 for all colors (or a specific color). Can effect the image at all from the histogram (without an side step to something like select color range)?
Â
I'm working with very large images on multiple systems (both 32 and 64 bit, all CS4). Normally in the 50,000x30,000 -- 50,000x70,000 px range. For the sake of argument and ease of use I could scale down but eventually need to be operating in this range. The images are created by stitching a series of images taken under high magnification. I would like to find ways to quantify certain regions of interested based on color, but that do not have great color separation (see image 1). The hope would be take this information from several images and export the histogram information. As far as cropping the histogram is concerned: the scanning process used to create the stitched images produces a lot of near white color variation that so far I've been unable to select entirely (via color range select using clusters). I would say my best effort is only 85% of the "white" (see image 2) I want to drop out the white px for size reduction and noise reduction when it comes to histogram statistics.
Â
Also I know this is pushing the limits of intention for PS, but we tried this on three other software packages-seemingly designed for these purposes--and failed.
needs to overlay a grid over a photo and then save it as another file. In CS5.5 or earlier, no problem, but in CS6 it is not working for either of us.Â
The batch action (run from either Photoshop or Bridge) stops and prompts at the Save command every time no matter what format we save it in (psd, png, jpg, save for web, etc.).
I have been through the Web and the Adobe Forums and cannot find a work around for this. He cannot just hit enter everytime the popup window comes up because he has over 2700 photos to put this grid on.
In Quick Select command function, I want to use more properties value to select one type text or other object.
