Photoshop :: Will CS4 Work With My 1.6 GHz Processor
May 25, 2009
I want to buy Photoshop CS4 but I read that I need a minimum 1.8 GHz processor in my PC. My processor is 1.6GHz. What will happen if I try install it in my PC anyway? Will it work? If not, is it possible to upgrade my processor?

I am a new VSX5 user. I installed the software last night, and today when I tried uploading a picture (PNG) to the timeline, I got the following error message: "These files cannot be added to this project. These files may be of unknown file format. The computer does not have enough memory or the file is copyright protected." I am able to add a video to my timeline. The picture was a screen shot from an ipad I took, so I doubt it is copyright protected.
When it comes to computer parts, and things of that nature, I don't necessarily know too much. Upon research my Toshiba Satellite C655-S5512 (low end computer, but it was all I could afford earlier this year) has an Intel Pentium B960 processor. Is that why I'm getting that error? And, is there anyway to be able to use this software in the mean time until I upgrade to a desktop computer in a month or two?
I updated the Video Studio Prox5 software with the Service Pack1.
This is what my system is running on:
Intel Pentium CPU B960 2.2GHZ processor
RAM: 4.0GB
64-bit operating system
If I upgrade my RAM, will that work?

Why when I'm in Bridge and use the image processor, it's not closing the files after processing in Photoshop cs5? It did about a day or so ago and now all of a sudden it wont.

If I upgrade to 4GB Ram, will I see a big improvement? Or do I need to get a new computer with a faster processor plus 4GB or more of Ram.

I usually use Image Processor to apply an action on tons of files on CS2. When I upgraded to CS3, I simply copied the actions over to the new action folder. Problem is, with long actions, CS3 doesn't close each file after it has performed the action unlike CS2, leaving the desktop filled with processed photos. Also a dialog box appear at the end with the message "Sorry, I could not process the following fileslist of files)". still, the processed files are saved in the destination folder. But here's the funny thing, when I run short actions, everything is ok.

Before opening an image in CS6 beta the 'Use Graphics Accelerator' is enabled; after opening an image, it is not and then an error is generated 'This feature requires graphics procesor acceleration . ' when attempting to use a filter/feature which requires HW acceleration. I have a supported graphics card, Radeon 6870, Windows7 64 bit, 8GB Ram. I've tried all 3 Advanced Settings.

I just got a fresh upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro (not beta) but then I can't use Photoshop that well. In the Preferences > Performance, I can't tick "Use Graphics Processor". I have an ATI graphics card and yep, I've already tried upgrading/reinstalling my graphics driver, even installing old ones -- and still, this doesn't solve my problem (even in its control panel, I can't seem to see the settings of the graphics card!)

When I run Image Processor, I tell the files to go to a specific folder. All of the processed images go to a folder named JPEG in the folder I specified. But, it also creates another copy of each image on my desktop which means a lot of cleanup after running 100 images. Anybody know how to stop that?

Just got one of the brand-new 27 inch iMacs a few days ago, one with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680MX (2GB GDDR5) video card.
I'm using Photoshop CS6.
Every time I enable Photoshop to take advantage of the video card for additional memory - Preferences > Performance > Graphics Processor Settings - I run into constant problems.
I'm talking about the "colored spinning wheel" icon appearing just about every 30 seconds and holding me up for about just about the same period of time.
Turning off the use of the video card solves the problem every time. No "colored spinning wheel" icon appearing - ever.
I got the larger video card hoping to take advantage of as much available memory as possible; unfortunately, it looks like there seems to be a problem with the interaction between Photoshop CS6 and the video card's driver.
I've got all the latest updates for both the Mac OS and Photoshop.

When I use the image processor from Bridge, I specify that I want it to process the images selected in Bridge, save as a PSD and run a set of actions.
The files do get saved to a PSD folder, but they do not get closed, so they all remain open. This slows the process down dramatically and it used to close them all, as it should.

I recently installed Photoshop CS6 and had no problem what so ever the first week. to an incident I removed Photoshop and reinstalled it. Now I'm having problem with GPU acceleration.
My computer has 2 graphics cards, GeForce GTX 460(Primary screen & projector) and GeForce 210(Secondary screen). Photoshop detects my GTX460 and uses it. But when I move Photoshop to my secondary screen I can't see any documents.
It's just a gray screen.
I had Photoshop CS5.5 installed before and had no problem using my secondary screen, installed PS CS 6 pararell with PS CS 5.5 and had no problem. Then I removed PS CS 5.5, still no problem.Reinstalled PS CS 6 and it doesn't work.
It obiusly worked a few days ago with this set up, and now it doesn't. also ad that unchecking Use graphics processor fixing the problem. But I wanna have all the nice GPU features.

I recently purchased a dual Xeon 3.0Ghz Quad-core Dell T7400 Precision Workstation (used) with 32GB of RAM.
I ran some testing before moving all of my software to the new machine, and it very quickly became clear that the system had some stability issues which I eventually attributed to the discovery that the 2 processors were not a matched pair (different builds and stepping levels). My first thought was to remove the older one and use the system with a single processor before finding a match for that remaining processor and installing it.
But then it occurred to me that I might also have to reinstall my OS (Windows 7 Ultimate), Creative Suite DP5 and all (or some) of my other software after installing that second processor, since both Windows and Photoshop check for the number of processors at installation and so will origianlly be set up to run on a single processor machine, not a dual.
I like to run as clean a system as possible (NO unnecessary software, etc.), so besides the unpleasant prospect of the double investment of time (installation, uninstallation and then reinstallation of the OS and 10 -15 other applications), I'm also concerned about junk that might be left over, either in the registry or elsewhere, after all of that installing, uninstalling and reinstalling.
for optimal future use (and Photoshop CS5 is probably 80+% of what I'll do on this workstation) should I: Go ahead and install the OS, CS5 and other software and start to use the new (single processor) computer now and then just add the second processor when I find one at a decent price, orKeep using my current workstation until I have a matched pair of processors for the new machine. Then, AFTER installing that matched pair, install the OS and application software and begin to use the new machine.
I am anxious to switch to the new machine and jump from 4GB of RAM to 32GB, but if starting with a single processor and then adding a second one in a week or a month will cost me either stability or performance down the road, it's not worth it.

It is taking 6 - 7 hours to render 2 - 6 minute 1080p videos down to 720p. Granted there are about 10 - 15 layers and a bunch of editing... but when I look at the performance monitor during rendering the intire resources used by my computer is around 45% - 50% for memory, processor, and little to no GPU is this normal?
It just seems really wierd to me. I have read the Adobe blog and watched the Learning Videos on the website on how to adjust the performance settings and have 90% of the RAM alocated to Photoshop.

I have CS6 (CC) on a Mac (2013). I wrote an action for saving my work. In my normal .psd file, I use multiple layers for editing, etc. I also use a group folder for my B&W conversion. I made an action to utilize the saved .psd file to save both the color and the B&W versions. The B&W action works completely fine. However, the Image Processor will not properly run the color action. It tells me that "The object “layer “B&W”” is not currently available." If I open a .psd file and run it manually, there are no issues.
what do I need to change to have the IP correctly run the action?
