Nov 2, 2012I'm looking to get a wacom tablet, but I'm not really sure what tablet it best for digital art and animation type stuff. I'll be using it with Photoshop CS6 and probably Toon Boom or some other animation software. I'm just not sure what the difference is between the tablets.

Jun 13, 2012I am on the creative cloud and have down loaded and successfully installed PS6. I am a professional illustrator and use the Wacom tablet. My concern is with the pen pressure effect not staying on. I have went to option on PS6 and checked for updates and down loaded them with no results and called support as well .
I went to the Wacom sit as well to check to if my drivers are updated and they are, and called their support as well with no results. I understand that PS6 is a new product and that I may have to wait for patches, that is fine.

Oct 16, 2008I was using a wacom tablet in adobe cs3 just fine, now I get no tip sensitivity. As in, the pen will always draw a think line no matter how light I use the pen.

Jun 18, 2008I use my Wacom Saphire CTE 430 for all my software. Recently I decided to move from Corel PhotoPaint to CS3. However, I am experiencing a very strange problem. If I use the mouse none of the photo shop paint tools work. If I use the pen the paint tools work but others do not. At first I thought is was my ignorance of PS and that I just needed to configure something. I eventually discovered that if I disconnect the tablet Photoshop works fine. I have downloaded and installed the latest Wacom Vista drivers as suggested by Wacom but it has not fixed the problem. PS is the ONLY program experiencing problems with the tablet. I run AutoCad 2008, Sketchup Pro and CorelDRAW X3 suite and they work flawlessly.

Jun 12, 2008I'm currently using Adobe Photoshop CS3 on Windows XP with an Wacom Intuos 3 tablet.
The problem I'm having is that when I use the tablet pen to click anywhere in
Photoshop, the cursor essentially locks in place and does not move. On the canvas, this means I can only place dots. This happens whether I'm clicking on tools, scrollbars, etc...
I used to be able to use it fine in CS2, but then it stopped working on day, and I thought that maybe upgrading would solve the issue. However, this has just left me with the same issue.
The pen does work normally in all other programs, such as in MS Paint or when clicking and dragging to select icons on the desktop. Also, clicking and dragging with a mouse works normally.

Dec 14, 2008I have Wacom Bamboo Fun with latest drivers, use Vista 64 and run PS in 64bit mode. I uninstalled CS3 before installing CS4. The tablet worked in CS3 as expected, but CS4 ignored pen pressure - it always worked like mouse - with maximum pressure. In order to fix this problem I uninstalled and reinstalled Wacom drivers and cleared PS preferences by starting PS with Alt-Ctrl-Shift. Now Photoshop ignores the tablet completely - the cursor won't move and I need to use mouse to navigate in Photoshop.

Nov 25, 2008Well, I just hooked up my old Bamboo tablet (the medium size) and downloaded
the new drivers. The reports of issues with the pen tablet are well founded.
For me I have several issues...
1. If you press to hard on the pen you get this animated ring and then a
brush adjustment dialog pops up. I hate this thing but can't figure out how
to turn it off. If this is supposed to be useful it isn't at least not for
me, it is so annoying. I don't know if this is a Photoshop thing or a Wacom
thing but I hate it. If anyone knows of a way to turn this off please let me
know.
2. The brush is very choppy when you are painting, etc. What I have noticed
however is that as you paint even if you never pull the pen from the tablet
surface Photoshop is creating dozens of history states as it does this
Photoshop must be doing something with memory or scratch space because it is
during the rapid creation of history states that it causes the pen to pause
making it seem choppy. I have no idea why Adobe would set it up this way.
When I create a single stroke no matter how much area I cover that should be
one history state and not dozens.
Photoshop :: CS5 Brush With Wacom Intuos 3 Tablet
Feb 26, 2012My Intuos 3 tablet and pen do not perform correctly using CS5. The same machine, using the same tablet and pen and the same brush, with CS3 and Corel Painter function correctly so I am assuming it's CS5 that's the problem. The brush seems to set an anchor point where the pen first contacts the tablet, then no matter where you draw with the brush nothing happens until the pen is lifted, then a straight line is drawn from the anchor point to the point where the pen lifted. Problem is with CS5 x32 and x64 both. Happens every brush stroke. Mouse works fine. Reset the preference file. Upgraded drivers for the tablet. The machine is an HP, quad core processor, 8 GB ram, with an ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics card. The machine came loaded with Vista 64 and I upgraded to Windows 7 at the time I installed CS5.

Jul 20, 2012I am 65 yrs young and use the Lasso Tool,Polygonal and Magnetic tools with a mouse.I just cannot control the outline area definition as precise as shown in all the tutorials. The "walking ants" are always screwed up and all over the place! Also, holding down the mouse button and scrolling the track ball is very hard for my hands.
Will a Wacon tablet w/pencil provide a better manipulation of PS(CS5&6) functions for outlining areas to be modified?

Jun 21, 2008I have wandered around the web and found numerous sites with sample drawings using the Wacom in PS. When the demonstrators are doing their bit, they use the whole of the screen for their efforts, even moving up and down into seemingly hidden areas when the drawing requires more space.
May I ask, how can I, when using my Wacom, ensure that I can use the whole of the screen, and not just a part of it. At the moment I select 'New,' and a certain size of paper, which never covers the whole screen and certainly will not permit me to draw beyond the paper limits.

Sep 5, 2008I read something about a fellow who uses the 6x8 Wacom on his wide screen monitor, but had to adjust the position of his image so he could access the whole image with the Wacom. (I think he was lamenting about not springing for the 6x11 Wide Format Wacom instead of 6x8, which would have covered his whole screen surface.)
My concern is that neither the 6x8 nor 6x11 will work "well" for me on dual monitors. I usually have the main Ps window with editing image on one monitor, and the palettes on the second monitor. (I do this with Illustrator and Fireworks as well.) I'm concerned that I'll be stuck with "use the mouse to access palettes" / "use the Wacom to draw", wasting my time switching between the two, and benefiting little from either.

Feb 20, 2013I'm using CS6 and while using my new wacom small tablet, I noticed that no matter what I do, I can't disable the pressure sensitivity for the "Spot Healing Brush". All my other tools i can. I'm not confortable using the pressure sensitivity to make the brush larger so i just prefer to turn off the sensitivity entirely.

Nov 20, 2013Ever since I upgraded Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 a few days ago, my pen pressure randomly changes to the default brush stroke in CS6 Extended. I am using a Wacom Intuous 5 Tablet with a wireless kit.
My pen pressure works perfectly fine in CS5, Paint Tool Sai, and Painter 12, but I am most comfortable with CS6 and really do not want to bounce between programs.
Reset my Photoshop Preferences using ctrl+shift+alt
Completely uninstalled and reinstalled the newest driver (Driver 6.3.7-5) as well as tried using older drivers.
Unistalled everything relating to Wacom on my computer and reinstalling.
Tried disabling Mouse settings through Device Manager.
Turned off/on Windows Ink.
Changed pen nibs.
Changed USB ports.
Removed My and All User Preferences using the Tablet Preference Utility
Turned off Flicks and changed Double Tap and Press and Hold settings.
I contacted Wacom and their response was:
"If the pressure sensitivity is just fine with the Tablet Diagnostics then you will need to contact Adobe."
About the only thing I have not done is unistalled/reinstalled CS6, which I am nervous to do because I no longer have my physical copy and as far as I can tell, it is only available to download through CC.
Photoshop :: Wacom Tablet Not Servicing Whole Screen (Windows 7)
Jan 3, 2012After making the move to Windows 7 a few months ago everything went fine regarding my tablet. Then a month later the driver died, i installed a newer version of the tablet for W7 and since then ive been having nightmares regarding the touch functionality of the tablet.
As of a week or two ago, the pen functionality has started dieing too. Im almost certain that what ever problems im having is not related to the tablet itself but my machine.When photoshop is not the active window, my pen can control the cursor to any position on the screen, however once photoshop is the active window, i can only control the upper left corner of the monitor. Ive tested it on a few apps and the same is happening on Fireworks, After Effects.

Apr 16, 2013I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and still have both CS5 and CS6 64 bit loaded. I have previously used my Graphire4 Pen Tablet with CS6 wihout any problems. All of a sudden it only works with Pen Pressure even though Pen Pressure is turned off. I am trying to use it like a mouse and frequently use shift/Click when editing a mask. I can no longer do this. If I run CS5 the Pen works as it should but not CS6. When I first open CS6 with the brush palette visible the brush shows a hard brush but when I open a file it changes to pressure sensitive without any action by me. I have reset the brushes, re-installed the driver and finally downloaded a more current driver but the problem still persists. Since it works fine in CS5 but not CS6 it has to be an Adobe problem. It is very frustrating. I am attaching a composite image showing what is happening in CS6. The right side shows what the brush palette looks like before I open a file. The left side shows what happens when I open a file. Even if I don't open a file and make any change within the brush palette it immediately changes to pen pressure.

Feb 13, 2013I have a Wacom Intuos 3 tablet, photoshop CS6 and Windows 7. The pressure sensitivity of my tablet won't work anymore. Roughly, it said to uninstall my wacom driver, unplug the tablet, reboot, install driver, plug in the tablet and reset my preferences in photoshop. I've done this last night and it worked, I was thrilled but it was late, was exhausted,When I turned it back on and went in photoshop this morning it didn't work anymore, pressure sensitivity was gone again. I get this little warning in my brush settings when I try to put it on Pen Pressure or tilt or other setting that requires pressure sensitivity, The only way I can get it to work is with the process I mentioned (uninstalling driver, unplugging tablet, rebooting etc...) but I'd need to do this every time I shut down my computer and that's a bit of a pain..I've also tried installing different drivers, the latest one first, when that didn't work I tried older ones to see if it would make a difference to no avail.

Jul 24, 2008I own a Wacom tablet and I've used it for about a year now.. and now that I mostly use my Laptop, I use the wacom tablet as a mouse pad (using the mouse that comes with it). I opened up photoshop today on my laptop and I was trying to erase some things using the brush command and it didn't work.. after an hour of panic and googleing I had the idea of using the pen.. which works.
I've deleted preferences, reset tools, and everything.. but its not working. No brush commands work (Clone, Brush, Eraser, etc.) but everything else will work.
I don't get it.. Is it something with pressure maybe?
Thats the only difference between mouse and pen.. pen adds pressure sensitivity.
I can't use the pen for pixel editing as well as I can use a mouse.

Sep 20, 2011I followed the instruction in the Mudbox help > Appendices > Tablet Setup including installing the latest drivers. Everything seems to work fine except pen pressure has no influence on brush size or sensitivity. One other post mentioned he had to roll back to a previous driver version.

There is a BIG diffrence in price, and being a beginer tablet user (and me being WAY over budget.. As in I have more in his PC than I have in some servers..) What do I need to be aiming at? A bamboo or a new Intuos?
If I go bamboo I can get the largest, if I go Intuos I can go the smallest...What is the difference between the two different Wacom tablet series anywho?
PS.. I wanted to add that I am posting it here because as some of you can imagine, corp. doesn't get everything you graphic gurus want.. This designer at our office is a really neat person and has always wanted a tablet.. I want to surprise him with one tha I went back to the store after my first post and looked again and am beyond confused at the differences between the largest bamboo and smallest intuos5 besides the size difference..

The stylus tool works fine (gradients, pen, paint) except for the erase tool - it won't erase to full transparency when I select the erase tool then drag my stylus. This is weird, since the actual eraser end of the stylus works fine: I just hate using that end of the tool, and much prefer using the stylus' pointed end to do all my work.

Dec 22, 2012I need to use CorelDraw X5 the bigger the pain in the neck the issue becomes.
The tabket is a Wacom Intuos 3 an my pen is set up to have a right click for the lower side button, double click for the upper side button and single click for the nib. In all applications and Windows this works as expected but as soon as I run X5 I lose the right click and it takes several minutes to return after I have quit X5.
While using CorelDraw the only way to get a right click is to hold down the nib to bring up a pop up menu.
Is there a setting in the tablet driver (or CorelDraw?) that will stop this happening?
