Jan 27, 2009I've been looking through the net for an answer to how to remove a background from an image. I saw the tutorial on this site but it didn't help in removing the background from the image I am using.
The background I want to remove is almost like a shadow so it is difficult to distinguish the colours, as everything is black,white and grey. I tried using color range and the magic wand but nothing works.

I would like to remove the surrounding white background around the logo.
I tried 2 ways to try and accomplish this (using the color picker and deleting, and using the magnetic lasso and cutting). Both methods left me with a sloppy looking logo.

Jun 1, 2004change or remove a back ground from a photo? I can remove the unwanted area, but when I create a new background, the people look cut out. I have tried to set the selection feather to about 10, but they still look like I cut them out. The background is a solid color (ugly yellow) and I am trying to change it to look like a studio canvas. You know with what looks like clouds? I have used the clouds filter and the difference clouds.
I have also tried a drop shadow in the back, and while that improves it a little, still not the look that it needs to be.

Jul 26, 2007how can we extract a part of a picture. Say for example I want to extract my picture from one of my prevailing photos and paste it on some other background, how can that be achieved. I tried tools like Magic Lasso, Magnatic Lasso etc and even appled the feather feature, but even then when I paste it on some other background, any one can make it out. The most difficult part is with hairs. I am attaching some pictures which I randomly found on net. Please guide me as to how can I exrtact them from their present backgroung and paste them to a new one without anyone coming to know about it.

I've been told the tall lady is too orange (the bride is very pale), but having got it wrong once with another orange lady, what in you view is the best way of taking out some of her fake tan?
Last I did this, what looked okay on screen did not look good in the prints as whilst I took some of the tungsten orange out of the room's glow, it seems that the ladies lipstick had the same tone - thus the result was that it looked like she's been a feeding vampire not 2 minutes before the picture such was the impression of blood on her lips!
Lastly, if I want to blow out the highlights here in the window as there's still some details from the 'orrible net curtains, what do you recommend?

All i want to do is remove the white so that I can put in a blue sky. I have selected the white (with quick selection) and deleted it. I even unlocked the layers, so once I delete I see the checkerboard. I try to place the image in Illustrator. The white comes back!

I work with Horse Advertisements and I get requests asking me to remove a horse from the background (say, a winning background) and put it like in a field or just against another pic. Can someone help me in doing this. What tool is best to use? Ive tried the background eraser tool, but I leave gaps in my erasing and it looks really fake. If you look on my website, on the front page (its not an ad that I did) but it was done with photoshop. I asked the lady how she did it and she said that she did it with the pen tool. I know what the pen tool is, but I cant figure out how to cut the background out of it, and when I cut and paste it into another doc. it usually says (say I'm trying to put it into illustrator or indesign) it says that the Photoshop segment is too large to export. Then when it is the right size, it turns out to be really pixelized. (Its not very good quality.

Do I require alpha channel masking?

Jul 2, 2007Some basic question: just need remove text from image (png), text is just on white background and there are no other objects around it, so text area can be easily selected with Rectangular marquee. If I just select text with Rectangular Marquee, then use Edit > Cut this probably will be destructive editing way, which isn't good. I can also select text use Rectangular marquee then Edit > Fill and fill Contents area with Background Color.

Jul 4, 2011I sadly do not have Photoshop C5 so can not easily remove someone from photos. I tried the cloning tool to just place the background over the person to be removed but it doesn't look very nice. (I'm just starting to use Photoshop).
It is a lake scene and the person to be removed is on the far right, not in the middle of a group or anything.

Apr 26, 2012i have a large number of pictures, they all have the same background image.
The background image is a white-to-gray vertical gradient and has some text on the top.
I created an action to batch remove the background - I use color ranges (Select the Rectangular Marquee Tool and the Right Click anywhere on the image and click on 'Color Range')
In the Color Range dialogue i selected 'Add to Sample' and started clicking numerous times along the horizontal line of my background - I am reminding you that my background is a gradient.
After selecting all of the colors (samples) that are in my background I clicked 'OK' and deleted the selection which leaved me with my image and a transparent background - GREAT!!
This method works great if my image has a high contrast with the background - which is about 80% of the cases.
When i use this action to remove the background from images that have WHITE / GRAY colors in them it comes out terrible since the Color Range selects the background AND bright areas on my image and deletes them.
I have the background image saved as a separate file, I want the Batch Action to check the original background image against all of my images and:
-Detect which parts of the image are similar to the original background
-Delete those similar areas
If that is possible, that would probably be a pretty good way to get rid of the background without deleting anything from my image.
Is it possible to do something like that in Photoshop (maybe using masks?!), or is it possible with any other Image Editing Software?

Jul 24, 2011Last week I shot a company event and didn't have an external flash or diffuser. This resulted in a very contrasty background shadow.
If it were just one shot, I would clone/stamp and be done; but I have about 25 shots to correct.
Any quick method to remove the shadow or at least reduce it's impact?

My boss wants some t-shirts made but the only image I have is one with a tie-dye background and I need it to just be the black and white that is on the image.
