I want to know what the best and quickest method would be to knockout images of people from a background ? I've heard CS5 has a built in tool for this. I've also heard the plug in "Knockout 2" from Corel is useful. So what is the best tool to use ? Also, is the plug-in "Knockout 2" designed for CS5 ?..or only earlier versions of PhotoShop ?
View 5 RepliesI am using CS4 64 bit. I just installed Corel knockout 2 and the extra goodies from the install cd to get the exclude filter. Neither of them are visible after the install. Has anyone successfully installed these using CS4?

I've heard that version 2 can only be installed as a plug-in, whereas version 1 was stand alone.
I've read that the advantage of the stand alone version is that it doesn't affect memory in the same way the plug-in would when installed in Photoshop.
Just wondered whever there is a huge difference in actual extracting performance between the versions, and whever stand alone versus plug-in is relevent.
is it worth learning Knockout or are there better ways to extract?

I know you can pixelate with Filter / Pixelate / Mosaic, but for some reason images I put through this filter don't look like old 80's/90's video game graphics. I need to knockout my arched text onto an object. This is the process I have been trying:
Effect > Warp > Arch > ApplyI then select the text and the object together and click 'Divide' in the pathfinders window.
However when I click divide the text reverts back to being a straight line of type. I really need the arch effect to be knocked out.
I would like to create a style where the white fill is knocking through the black fill in the appearance pallette. I cant seem to figure this out?

I'm looking to have the white knockout to the background color. it's a black text in the center, a (what should be) knockout outline of that black text and then another black outline outside of that.how to set it up, order and arrange the text so I can simply keep the look of the white knocking out to the shirt color.

Now, I would like to change the color. It was black, how do I change it to red or blue? I can't flood fill as you would imagine, because not every pixel has the same brightness.

I want all the black to be one file, and remove all the white. I tried the "select same" function, but this didn't work either.

I have a small site where i've essentially designed a storage pond. I've cut 3.0m off the original ground at a 2:1 slope and built a berm at a 2:1 fill slope to a designed elevation. I've managed to balance the site to zero. The contour drawing I have shows elevations - which is great - however the client has asked to see the contours showing a Fill or Cut label from the original ground.

Now I can export this file in whatever formats i want but the problem arises when I copy the image into Photoshop 7.0. As the [printing company has specifically asked for a PSD file I have to obviously design something in Photoshop. So when I copy the logo across to photoshop as a JPG, Tiff, GIf or whatever file format, it copies across perfectly. But the problem occurs when i try to resive the image to half the original size. It becomes extremely pixelated.

After I click OK 2-3 times the dialog box goes away and everything seems to wrk fine. But I want to get rid of this dialog box error for good.
