View 3 RepliesI have been merrily taking screen shots for a recent work project, pasting them into Photoshop, adding a touch of sharpening via Highpass filter, and printing them to PDF. suddenly, with the most recent print, I am greeted for the first time with the message "Some PostScript specific print settings (Interpolation, Calibration, Encoding) will be ignore since you are printing to a non-PostScript printer." I also noticed all of my other prints to pdf were 72 dpi, suddenly this one is 121 PPI. The PDF is black and white, although the original document is full color, and it has the moire pattern of a scan taken at the wrong resolution, a pattern of little squares all over.
View 3 Replies View RelatedCS6 illustrator and photoshop not allowing me to open documents due to different reasons...damaged files, badly formatted, not compatible etc. However, these files were all created on the same computer and program therefore should be compatible. Is there a way for me to fix these files/prevent this from happening in the future?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to open an .ai file in Illustrator CS6. I get an error message "Acrobat PDF File Format is having difficulties. Object label badly formatted" I have tried recovery mode and running recovery scripts to no avail.
I won't open or place in any other software. I can; however, see a preview in Bridge.
I'm not using any fonts software and there are no fonts present in the document. The file contains a lot of gradient mesh and a photo (.jpg, placed)
I'm trying to capture VHS to VideoStudio, but am getting unuseable video and no audio. Video appears but visual is very distorted, scrolls across the screen with a large vertical bar moving along with the image. Works the same whether copying home movies or store bought videos. Using S-video cable, running Windows 7 Pro.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to just open any image and my copyright info would be inserted into the file data. I guess it was a droplet, "when the file is opened or created then add file info from a xmp file". I still have the xmp file with all the data in but i am unsure how to implement it being automatically opened and added to the file when i create a new one? I thought i could handle it, i assume its a droplet of some sort.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen trying to open a raw file in PSE 5 I receive the following error message
“Could not complete your request because the file format module cannot parse the file”
I checked and my camera Nikon D3100 is listed as a supported camera.
I Have transferred a CS6 Raw photo session from camera to hard disk. Now some files show all camera details and they are working fine but some files show only right photo number and proper file size and Photoshop can't recognize them. The file names are exactly same type. Is there any way to fix these hidden files?

Width 7431 pixels
Height 12644 pixels
Resolution 72 pixles
Image size 268.8m
If I try to open the image at this time it takes forvever and eventually everything freezes. If I try to open the image at a lower width and height it opens really small then when I zoom in its all blurred.
this is a 10 year old eps file. we used it to make vinyl cutout stickers.
after opening in PS7, it's just black squares, without all the cutouts in each square.
when opened in notepad, these are the 1st 2 lines...
%!PS-Adobe-2.0 EPSF-2.0
%%Creator:ScanVec CASmate(TM) 1.20
I have a .DST file on a disc I am trying to open but my PC I think does not have any software to do this.

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to record certain actions on a raw file without opening the file in Photoshop?
Let's assume I have 250 files, all needing lens correction (and maybe other common tweaks) as a basic first step. I'd like to be able to record an action that
(1) opens my NEF file in ACR;
(2) makes the lens correction based on the profile for the particular lens I used;
(3) [other tweak--say noise reduction];
(4) [other tweak--say color temperature]; and then
(5) closes the file generating nothing but the .xmp file.
Then when I go to work on each file, all my basic corrections have been made so that when I reopen later in ACR, I only have to make custom changes before finally opening in Photoshop.I've tried a few things, scanned the forums, checked the online help center, gone through a few Adobe TV tutorials, but I can't figure out how to do it.
I am having trouble opening an EPS file in Photoshop CS5. Previously, PS wasn't opening at all, but I cleaned up my fonts and I can now open some files. This particular EPS file, however, causes the application to crash every time. I recently had similar trouble with Firefox and Flash and have since upgraded to 10.7. Crash report below:

I'm on Photoshop CS6 13.1.2 on a mid 2010 MacPro running OS/X 10.8.3. Everytime I start up Photoshop it also opens up a .psb image file which was editing some time ago. I don't want it opening on startup. I have tried:
1. Closing the tab
2. File/Close
and then exiting Photoshop and starting up again. The file sill loads.
3. Command-Option-Shift on startup to reset Photoshop. The file stil loads.
How do I stop this file from loading automatically on startup?
I have a new installation of Photoshop CS4 running on Windows 7 in Bootcamp. I"ve applied the latest updates. The program hangs whenever I try to open a file or start a new one.

I am working on a new iMac and a few weeks ago I started to try the Photoshop CC-Tryout-Version. Everything was ok, but today Photoshop stopped opening files and crashes. The Tryout-Version is still valid - the 4 weeks haven't passed yet.

My CS6 photoshop is viewing any file I open as corrupt but when I save them, they are ok in windows preview / bridge etc.. its only showing really weird in photoshop! I dont know what has all of a sudden changed! I haven't changed any settings!
I am on a windows 7, 64 bit PC and this problem is not just limited to my PC, my colleagues also today have this same issue on their PCs too...
Why does Photoshop cs4 crash when opening a file? (Mac OS 10.6.8) I've rebuilt pref.'s and reinstalled Photoshop with no positive results. I can create a new file but cannot "place" anything because that crashes as well.
View 26 Replies View RelatedI'm having huge problems with opening large files. They're slowing down my entire machine, and even minor things such as resizing a layer with the file can result in 10 minute waits. I'm hoping I don't have to reinstall the OS, but I really cannot work out why there's such a jump in performance. It's becoming impossible to work with files approaching 1GB, leat alone some of the 2-3GB files I need to, which previously weren't a problem.
I've recently upgraded to CC from CS5 on a 2.6GHz i7 MacBook Pro (less than a year old, circa. Jan 2013), with 8GB RAM and 500+ GB free memory on a 1TB hard drive. I don't have any third party plug-ins, and am very careful with fonts.
I've let Photoshop use 80% of the 6440MB of available RAM.Activity monitor is showing PS uses about 60% of the CPU when saving, otherwise only 30/40%, about 5GB of virtual memory, and I have plenty of space on the disk.I don't know if it's odd, but my sleepimage file is about 8.6GB, which seems large? Also, there are at least 14 swapfiles all at least 1GB - should there be so many?
Should probably say I'm also using an external monitor, but performance doesn't change when I disconnect.
I am working on a very important print project and the deadline is on tuesday. When I opened my *.psd files last night an error appeared at the end of the "Reading Photoshop format" progress:
Quote:
Could not complete your request because of a programm error.
The files can't be opened anymore...
I really need those files working for I don't have the time to re-do them. Can the files be recovered? (WinXP no-SP, Photoshop CS)
I recently discovered a problem that I have no idea how it got created. I have photoshop set up to open up all my images (jpeg, bmp, etc.). All of a sudden, all my jpeg icons went to one of the windows default icons, and when I double click on an image (no matter what the file type), photoshop opens, but no file.
I have to open Photoshop first, then go to "open", then browse for the file. It worked before, and now all of a sudden, it doesn't. I have looked for a setting for this, but to no success. Not to mention that I can't figure out how to switch my jpeg icons back to what they were. This isn't that big of a deal, but it just saves a little time, being my images are spread across my computer in different folders.
I have a problem with my Photoshop CS 3. Everytime I try to open a file the program crashes producing the message "Photoshop.exe has detectetd a problem".
I'm runnig CS 3 on a Windows XP x64 OS. I have already installed the update to version 10.0.1.
All I could find out was, that it must have something to do with my EPSON printer driver for the EPSON Stylus Photo 2100. If I remove the driver from the system, CS 3 works without crashing.
Photoshop crashes when opening a file.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Photoshop CS and can't open a file when I double click on the icon. I can only open JPG's or PSD files from within the program. I know about setting the default program through the "Get Info" menu, but it still does not open. Funny though, the file will open with a double click when I set it to open with Image Ready, Painter, Explorer, and Netscape. When I double click on the file it will start up Photoshop, but the file will not open. All I get is that quick "zoom up" effect, but no image.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI shoot with Nikons which in the RAW format create what they call NEF files.
When I try to open them , I get the following message:
" Could not open .NEF becasue of a program error "
I have determined that if go to the Open file I can get it open, provided I know the exact dimensions of the image, but this is slow and cumbersome.
How can I set it up so that the images simply open in the NEF format?
I am trying to open a bunch of EPS files and when the dialog box pops up, the default is CMYK and 72 DPI. So I have to manually type in 200dpi and change CMYK to RGB. I would like it to default at 200DPI and RGB so that I can avoid the aduous task of changing these every time. I never had an issue with this in previous versions of PS - which seemed to remeber what I wanted - but with CS4, it aint sticking. How can I make this the preference?
View 2 Replies View RelatedJust got CS4 and am trying to use CS4 to open a picture that I scanned into the computer. I get this message "Could not complete your request because of a problem parsing the tiff file". The file is only 12,084 KB and 1702 x 2338. It will open in CS2 but not CS4. CS4 will however, open the scanned files that are smaller than 10,000 KB.
