Nov 16, 2012Im using brush with 40% opacity i draw a line and then draw another over it but i want the place where they intersect be just as the color im drawing with. I'll just upload pic.

Photoshop :: Overlaying Text On Image
Mar 24, 2012I've read how to fill text with an image by laying the image over the text and setting it as a clipping mask. But I want to achieve a particular effect, and my text also has a surrounding shape.

Here is a snapshot of my layers:

You can see I have a group comprising the text, and a shape layer (with stroke) to define a border. Both text and border are a mid-grey.
Â
And I have set the group to "Color Burn" (over the image) to get an effect I like in the text. I would now like to achieve two separate things:

(a) retain just the text and border (with color burned image within), the rest as white (or transparent)Â
(b) retain the text and border AND the paler image within the border, everything outside the border as white (or transparent)
Â
In both cases, it would be far preferable to keep the text as a single editable text layer, and the shape layer as an editable shape layer, so that I can tweak both later.

I'm not sure how to achieve either! The techniques I've see have the image on TOP of the text, but for my effect the image is UNDER the text.

I had tried by cloning the face and sticking the text between the two layers, which kinda worked, but i want a more "collage" kind of effect.

I tried this and despite my efforts being not quite as good as that produced in the video I was pleased with the result, as follows:

This is a cropped image created from a 'prt sc' of a Revit sheet view on which I had superimposed the png image over the jpg, having followed the instructions in the video.  However, when I came to export the project to dwfx, the jpg file (the sky) disappeared leaving only the png image as shown herewith:

Can I not paste one over the other within the Revit environment, and get the expected result perhaps?  Can the complete image only be achieved in a picture editing program?

 I have one base view and one draft view created all at point1 with the same scale. It seems to me the base view's center is at point1. But not that of the draft view.
Just wondering how to overlay them to looks like one view with the same origin point. Or what coordinate I adjust, so I can draw on draft view, but looks like I was drawing on the base view?
Some additional lines are needed in drawing but can't get from projection of a model.Â

I have tons of Q's so maybe it's best to ask this question first ... are their good tutorials online regarding this subject (creating, drawing, animating cartoons to use as stand alone cartoons and also to embed over live footage)? I'm aware of Lynda.com but wasn't sure if they have this sort of tutorial.

If I've illustrated and animated a character (flower, or bird, or cartoon person dancing) ... what's the best way to incorporate that into my live clip? Let's say i have a girl singing and want the bird to fly across the screen, or onto her shoulder. Would I do this in After Effects? Or would I export from After Effects and then do the overlaying in Final Cut Pro (which I'm using to edit my videos)?Â

I exported a 10 second cartoon I made of flowers lip syncing to the audio track that I'm doing the video for and when I rendered, the background was white. I wasn't sure how to composite that onto my FCP video and so here I am....
Paint.NET :: Overlaying Image Is Showing Checkerboard Background When Saved
Aug 21, 2012I have an issue with a transparent image. So, I have an image of someone & I want to paste an image of a transparent heart around their face, which I also have. I open the heart in Paint.net & notice the checkerboard background, which means that the background is transparent. I then copy & paste it onto the image of the person but the heart still has the checkerboard background instead of being transparent & it is covering the face. Also, when I saved the heart image on my Mac desktop, the thumbnail had a white background but when I opened it in Preview & iPhoto, it was transparent.
PS: I have Parallels Desktop so I'm running Mac & Windows side-by-side.
Photoshop :: Sort Brushes In The Brushes Palette?
Jan 30, 2006I am interested in grouping and sorting brushes according to size, shape, whatever.
Right now when I add a brush library, they just stack on top of one another.
For example let's say I have a round brush with a 10 diameter, then next to it a round brush with a 20 diameter. If I make a 15, it goes to the bottom of the list, and I have to scroll all around. How can I group them?
I suspect I would have to make my own brush library with my brushes how I want them, then save that and load it?

Jul 17, 2005I have been using version 5 for years now and I’ve been looking into getting CS but the biggest thing that I’ve noticed is the brush control. I’ve been used to just selecting the opacity (like 10%) and using my stylist and going over the area and getting darker much like a traditional airbrush. I have played around with the flow and opacity but can’t get the look and the feel of v5. I don’t have all the time in the world to play around with it because it’s my friends computer, I just want to know if it can be done or if they have fazed that out with the newer versions.

Sep 9, 2003I lost my precise preferences for the brushes and all I have is a 1-3 pixel brush. After that it defaults to the icon. Our IT guys seem to have misplaced the original cd.

1. A "wet brush" (PS7). it gave a look like painting with slime.
2. A brush that gets Thinner in the end of a stroke. Like the stroke of a pen / feather. Or does anyone know how to get this effect, maybe with another technique.

Photoshop :: CS2 Will Not See Brushes
Oct 5, 2008Im working with Photoshop CS2 and although I have all the brushes that Ive downloaded put into the right folder (program files/adobe/adobe photoshop CS3/presets/brushes) it refuses to see them within the program.
When I installed them photoshop was closed, I even rebooted the computer just in case. I tried moving them into the "adobe photoshop only" folder within the "brushes" folder and it doesn't work.
I know these are more recent brushes so they cant be too out of date for this version.

I do a lot of painting, and some of the brushes I have are a lot slower than others. Example- some brushes produce almost no lag, while others produce severe lag. (The slower brushes tend to have a lot of settings in the brush panel such as texture, scattering, dual brush, etc)

I'm planning to upgrade my system soon - I'm considering 8 gigs of DDR3 Ram (2400mhz), a 3.4GHZ i5 quad-core processor, an upgraded ASUS motherboard, and probably stick with the remaining hardware for now. I'll eventually move on to 16GB of RAM. I will also be using a 64-bit version of XP and maybe even go up to Windows 7 64-bit (If I can set aside the time for all the headaches that come with something new like this)

My question is, with an improved system like this, would I expect to see the lag drop significantly on these slow brushes? Or is it just the brush itself which is slow and an improved system will have no impact? I do very little in the way of filters, 95% of my workflow is pure painting with a variety of brushes and not too many layers for the most part (usually less than 50 and closer to 10 on average). So my main concern is trying to remove the slowdown when painting.

Sep 28, 2013I have photoshop 5.5 and it works totally fine with my bosto kingtee tablet. I recently tried downloading the CC trial to test it out and I can click buttons in photoshop with the pen just fine, I can draw with the mouse just fine, but it doesn't put a mark on the canvas with my pen. I then grabbed a cs6 trial, same deal. Seems only 5.5 is working for me. I've reset the brush settings and preferences, I reinstalled my pen drivers.
