I am using adobe Photoshop cs2 . When I open the Photoshop, the default tool selected is "Rectangular Marquee tool". every time I have to first select the "moov tool". How to open the Photoshop with this "moov tool" selected by default?
View 19 RepliesI have a situation where the default behavior of my rectangle tool (or any of the other shape tools) is now different. I'm on Mac OS X 10.6.5 running Illustrator CS5. It acts as though the option-shift keys are pressed, so whenever I draw an object, it draws from the center point and the dimensions are constrained, so i can only draw a square or circle, not a rectangle or ellipse. Additionally, whenever I use the selection tool, it clones the object I drag, and also constrains the positioning, so i can only drag in a 0, 45 or 90 degree angle (or multiples thereof). It's as if my option-shift keys are permanently pressed (if I actually press option-shift, the behavior persists). I tried using a different (brand new) keyboard, tried throwing away preferences, and the problem remains. I also tried booting up Illustrator CS4, and the weird problem showed up there! This behavior just started happening spontaneously. I couldn't think of anything weird that happened (a crash, a new plug-in, etc.). I can't find a preference that sets this behavior either.

Is it possible to put as part of an action 'open the file that's selected in the file browser'. At the moment I select files and then run a batch process, or open the file and then run an action, but can I skip that stage?
What I have in mind is being able to look over the file browser to see which action each file needs to have run, but to be able to just click an action button and for it to open that file and run the action, etc.
I opened a new layer then used the Polygonal Lasso Tool to cut... then a dialog box told me that nothing was selected. What do I do?

Well, I'm looking for a way to use a similar rectangular select tool and then be able to point at the bottom right corner of the selected area and be able to resize the selected area proportionally. Is there such a tool in photoshop? And if not, is there another graphic program that has this capablity? All I want is this simple capability, I'm willing to use whatever program that has it... its too much trouble creating my own program to do it.
Remember I said resize proportionately, in comparison MS Paint has a similar selection tool and lets you resize what you selected but NOT proportionately. I hope you understand what I mean. Resize but keep same proportionate dimensions...

I used to 'merge to panorama', or 'open as layers' in Photoshop regularly, but today it no longer works. When I try, the message comes up: "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 6.6 for full compatibility. Please update the Camera Raw plug-in using the update tool available in the Photoshop help menu."
When I go to Photoshop Help Menu, 'no available updates at this time' is the message that comes up. I manually downloaded the Camera Raw 6.6, but to no avail.
When attempting to edit using PS, the program DOES open, but nothing happens... the files do not appear. They DO open individually when Edit in Photoshop CS4 is selected, but I prefer the 'open in layers' option, and often use the 'merge to panorama'...
I am used to "Option" clicking on a color, while using the Brush tool, to set the foreground color. In CS6, it is updating the background color instead, even though the "Info" panel clearly says "Click to choose new foreground color" when I hold down the Option key. What setting am I missing?
The foreground color is the active color in the color swatches.Manually selecting the Eyedropper tool and option-clicking, updates the foreground color. Simply clicking, updates the background color.

LR 4.3 does not open the selected photo. It opens the PREVIOUSLY selected photo.What do you do when you select the adjustment tools, but only the plus cursor appears, meaning every click expands the image, no adjustments made. I happen to have a second monitor that is an extended gamut monitor and I like LR and PS to both open on it. LR5 does....PS CS6 did. However PS CC does not. It does not seem to "remember" where it last was run like prior versions.
I'd like to know if it's possible to force Photoshop to open pictures on the second monitor by default. Actually, I have 2 monitors, 1 for tools, 1 for fullscreen picture view. On the "tools" monitor, toolboxes takes all the screen and pictures opens behind these toolboxes.
I ALWAYS move pictures fullscreen on the second monitor so I'd like to open them like this by default, but I don't find how.
I am trying to do a batch resizing of a number of pdf images/eps images.
Ultimately I would like to run a batch like so:
->file->Automate->Batch...
My Batch command:
* opens a dir of images and then resizes them to 600px and 150px and saves
them in two different new dir's.
This works fine but all of the images are different sizes so the smaller ones come out blurry. I can avoid this by opening each image at 600px. However, this is time consuming.

I use the ruler tool a lot more frequently than the eyedropper, but PS keeps defaulting back to the eyedropper. Is there any way to make the ruler the default tool for that group?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen using the pen tool a person can create a line by eyeballing its angle. But if you hold down Shift while creating a line the program has default angle settings. I was hoping there are way to create setting profiles, or just plain changing the default setting of the Shift/snap-to option for the pen tool. I am working on HUD layouts and designs and am finding it difficult to concistantly get the angle I need. Eyeballing resaults in varying angles (barely, but I can notice it), but the Shift/snap-to angles are too sharp.

Why is there a default empty window when you open the app on Mac? All previous versions let you view your desktop if you don't have an open project. Is there a preference setting to get rid of this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSince installing Mac OS 10.9 and Photoshop CC, my .psd files do not want to open with Photoshop CC. If I open the "Get Info" window on a .psd file, I can set "Open with” to Adobe Photoshop CC for an individual file, but if I click “Change All” and click “Continue” in the pop-up box, it just goes back to “Adobe CS6.app”, no matter what I do. Even files created in PS CC revert to opening with CS6.

It was set to open just fine in regular Photoshop CS6 but once I installed Photoshop CC I was unable to open my photo's in photoshop unless I opened them in Bridge. I also can't open my InDesign documents unless I open them in Bridge. And I can't open Illustrator at all unless I open it in Bridge itself by adding the Illustrator.exe to my favorites in Bridge and then clicking on it. Is Photoshop CC not able to be the Default for photo's yet, is there a work around that can be done to have my computer register that it's even there to be set as default. Then when I uninstalled Photoshop CC because I WANT my photos to open automatically in Photoshop then when I went to re-install regular Photoshop CS6 it wasn't there to download so I had to reinstall Photoshop CC. When I open a document or create one anew the working space window is sized to the exact image of the graphic. Each time then (just for preference) I pull the window out a little larger so that I can see the space outside my graphic.
Is there a way, however, that I can set my defaults though so that each time I open a graphic I reveal a bit of this non-work space? Or if I want to work this way do I have to Open - then drag the window out a little larger each time.
