The specs:
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate; Photoshop CS6
The problem:
Files are saving to old dates... PSD file created say on Aug 04, 2012. Saved as a TIFF today, August 18. But the date shown in Windows Explorer is July 08, not today's date. Same thing happened with a JPG
This doesn't seem to be happening with PSD files.
Okay, so i looked into the file (the PSD) a bit and saw that the PSD file was derived from another PSD file that had been created on July 08.
Now, for some reason all TIFFs and JPGs are taking the original created date and not the latest modified date.
I've just given one example, but the problem seems to be happening across the board, In some cases, which is how it caught our eye, the file date goes back to Feb, though it was worked on and saved as a TIFF yesterday (August 17).
I asked essentially this question on Elements Village a few days ago. No responses as yet, so I thought I'd try here...In PSE10, I have many photos scanned to TIFFs. In the Organizer, I set the dates for these photos to match when the original photo was taken (which of course is not present in the automatic metadata for the scanned image). However, when I look at the actual photo files (either with exiftool, or looking at the metadata available in Windows Explorer on my Windows 7 machine), usually my added date is not present. If it is there, I see a "Date taken" in Explorer. In exiftool, it appears in a few places, including IPTC Date Created and XMP-xmp:Create Date. However, it only appears in about 5-10% of the files. The ones where it does appear seem random to me.I have this problem after doing Write Keyword Tags and Properties Info to Photos, although I'm thinking this isn't a factor with this problem. How to get these added dates to be written reliably to the files? And why is it intermittent with PSE10?
I had a decently organized folder structure with all photos from about 2005 on being organized by year (moved to their corresponding year folder on import from memory card).
However i had about 10,000 or so photos which were placed randomly in folders and sub folders from various backup/restores etc, which were imported into lightroom but not moved into their corresponding year folders.
I just purchased LR5 and i wanted to finally take the time to organize my file folder structure and create a new catalog. Following a method i researched found here: [URL]....
Here is what i did:
1) In Lightroom 4 i highlighted All Photos and saved metadata to file for every photo. (thinking this would keep all original metadata and any adjustments i made on the files)
2) Fired up lightroom 5 and started a new catalog. I then proceeded to import folders from my photo file folder and use the Import and Move option which imported and moved the files into the folders by year.
3) This seemed to work well but it seems i wound up with lots of duplicates (the older photos i had often had filename1.jpg and filename1-2.jpg which were often a cropped dupe) which was not a big deal and still ok so far.
4) I really liked the ability to click on the Year folder in the library and see all the photos for that year but i noticed that TONS of photos were missing within each year.
It turns out that a TON of photos which were in one of their own folders (not by year) folder were moved to 2013 folder and the original capture date had been re-written as 7-24-13 (the import date) overwriting what it was originally there and ruining my organization!
My catalog is a mess, all the files have been moved to a year folder and alot of the years are just plain wrong. I don't want to sort through my entire collection (48,000 photos) and find miss-labeled dates and out of place files!
what can i do to restore the original capture date and put my collection back in the proper order?
I had my automatic save set up for every 10 minutes but files were not being saved regularly. I deleted files from the Temp folder thinking it was full and now there are no .sv$ saving at all. How can I make drawings save automatically every 10 minutes?
I have a directory of 100 images in a directory that I am going to add to my online photo album. I want to run these images through some image optimization to reduce the size and enhance the colors. BUT, when I do this, the modified date of the image gets changed to the current date. My online photoalbum uses this modifed date as the pictures date. So after my pictures are all uploaded to my online photo gallery, the dates are not correct and pictures are not in any date order.
is there a way to tell photoshop to NOT update this date when modifying an image?
What are all of your processes for modifying images and tracking the actual image date?
Having problem in PSE9 & 10. When importing the batch of images and organizer, it changes the dates of the images automatically, some images are showing in correct date sequence and some photos timings are getting change and taking the current time and date. How to resolve this problem so all the images should show in the correct date taken sequence.
I scanned a number of pictures. I used another piece of software to revise the "created" and "modified" dates of the file to the dates the pictures were actually taken. I then put the files in a folder that Photshop Elements imports. But when it did, it imported the files with the dates I that I had scanned the pictures. Then I had to use PE to adjust the dates again.I like using the other software for adjusting dates because I can do batch revisions.
Just imported over 400 photos from my camera and my cellphone and, for some completely unknown reason, PSE9 has chosen to change the dates of those images so, now, my photos are completely messed up and are not in anything like the correct chronological order. Some dates on the camera and the cellphone are correct and some are incorrect so it's not even one device! I've checked my camera and my cellphone and both have the correct dates on them but, for some reason PSE9 is showing different dates, and it's not even today's date!
What PSE9 is doing, and how to rectify it, at the moment, I feel like uninstalling the whole system and using a different package!
Deleting files and saving files brings up an error message. Files can't be deleted from lightroom which makes editing a nightmare. Also Saving Files (raw of jpeg), brings up an error message everytime.
In the Bridge under the Tools...Batch Rename....under file names......I deleted the dates and test box by clicking on the minus sign so how do I get them back?
I recently took a new camera on a trip. When I got back and viewed my pictures, I discovered that each picture had a date embedded in the lower right corner. Is there any way to use Lightroom to remove the dates from the pictures?
I am new to photoshop and I am having a problem saving my layers in PSD Photoshop cs5.5. I created 4 layers. The problem is that after saving it as a PSD file and during the save process the layers box is checked, it wont open with all layers. So if I close the original that has all 4 layers and then reoping it after its saved, its not the same. The picture looks proper and all layers are in the picture, but on the side properties panel it looks like this..
When trying to save a .psd file today after working on an image I got a message saying - Could not save as "_IJD3271.psd" because of disk error. What might be causing this to appear and even better how to remedy it. This has just started today as I was working recently on images and saving them without any problems whatsoever.
I have at home pc, but in college I am using Mac,s. I have one concern if im going to work on some kind of project at home on my pc and then I will wanna carry on on it at the college were I'm gonna use Mac, will I be able to load that project? If not what should I do? Because today when I Mac didn't load me a InDesign file which I saved on my PC. I don't want this happen to PS files.
I just installed CS6 on a new computer, i7 and plenty of everything. Also has windows 8, yuck. On my previous computer running a different ps but the same Lr version, I had no issues. But saving images is a nightmare. I shoot in raw, so my files are large. From within Lr, to bring a photo in tiff format over to ps, edit, save, it will take minutes PER photo. Yet bringing the same raw image into ps via bridge, it saves fine...still a bit slow, but not even close to the lag. Same issue whether it is psd or tiff.
There is no software on my computer other than cs6 and lr4.2, no antivirus, nothing except the other garbage that comes with win 8. I think that because I can't find anything on this issue, it must be due to win 8 as the OS and it is causing a disconnect between Lr and ps.
In photoshop (on PC) I get the message that the file is open and in use whenever I try to save as a file in any format, so cannot save my changes to a new file.
I have a large amount of scanned negatives. The date of most of the negatives are known. How can I change the date in LR, or other program, so they will show up correctly - when sorted by date in LR?
I'm a new user of LR-5. I converted my catalog from PSE-11, and noticed ( after using the catalog for several days) that many of the capture dates are wrong. They were right in PSE-11. I use an HP PC, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1. What did I do Wrong?
I have spent considerable time trying to "save as" some of my high-res TIFFs into other folders as TIFFS, yet PS has insisted on reducing ppi's on these folders from original count of 600 - 1200 to 72 ppi...WHY?
I want to save the changes made in PS CS5 for Mac to another file as a TIFF, so why is PS insisting on reducing the ppi to 72?
I am using PB Works as a Wiki generator which has a limited graphics editor. What it can do however is import JPG files. So, using Photoshop (I have version CS3) I thought I could take a JPG photo, add hotspots to it and then save it as a JPG before uploading it to the Wiki system. Then I could insert this JPG file into the appropriate part of the Web page (PB Works generates).
I created my own set of actions in PS CS5. When i open a folder of JPGs and want them to get changed by that set automatically everything works but the saving the file.
I tried safe&close and renaming the files and safing them in another folder but they don´t get saved. all that pops up is a window asking me where i want to safe the copy-file of that JPG . If I do so it saves the file with the changes from the set. but it stops everytime.
I have this problem since I bought my SSD into my MacBook Pro. It happens both with Photoshop CS5 and CS6.
My hard disk configuration is a little bit weird. I have an SSD and an HDD (in the opti bay). The (OS X 10.7 Lion) system itself is on the SSD, and the user directories (/Users/gk/) are symlinked from the HDD because the SSD does not have enough space. There is one exception: the /Users/gk/Library folder is not on the SSD, but on the HDD to preserve the speed, so it's a double symlink.
I am not able to save images at all, it pretends to to it, but in fact the save operation reaches only the point, where the image is saved in ~/Library/ Caches/TemporaryItems (which is on the SSD), but then it is not moved to it's save location.
