Photoshop :: Move Photo To Powerpoint Without Bringing The Background
Jan 25, 2007
I am trying to do is use the wand around an object so I have only it on a layer, then cut that object and paste it in another program, this time it happens to be powerpoint. But when I do that, it brings the white b/g square that is around the object with it, and then I have a big block photo. I've tried a couple different things, but I can't get a good clone over to my presentation.

I took a one-day course on Photoshop with NAPP and the instructor was showing us how to bring a photo closer together where the objects are closer but it doesn't distort the photo.

I am trying to change the background of a photo. Not just change the color but change the color AND make it keep it's original shading, etc. I have some family photos we had made recently and they used a beige color draping for the background. The ones we had made before had a black draping. I was wondering how I could go about using some sort of additive coloring to transform the varying shades of beige to the same varying shades of black.
I have already used the masking tool to separate the background from the rest of the photo.

In Photoshop I'm unable to move the background window. I am able to move document windows and all the other panels, but not the background window. From the bottom right of the window I can collapse or expand the background window, yet it is stuck to the top of the menu bar. This is annoying because in order to access a finder window lying behind the Photoshop background window. I have to hide, Command H, Photoshop.

I have the image extracted from the original photo and now I want to place it in a new background, but I cant seem how to figure out how. I have used the magic wand tool and selected all then cut and paste, then remove the white area to reveal the new background, but then I'm not able to position the photo where i want it in the new background. I have done a search on youtube and a google search, and have alot of info, but not what I'm looking for. I'm using elements 7. Anybody have a good link for me to watch or a good explanaiton. BTW I am a total newbie to photoshop, this is only my second day having the software.

I am downloading pictures from FOTKI. It is possible to download them to my desktop. When I go to ADOBE STARTER EDITION 3, they cannot be accessed in the "home" folder, showing all of my pictures.
When I try to import the picture into the Adobe Pictures folder, I can only see it if I use the "find" option giving the image number. I cannot locate it in the folder showing all of my pictures.
When I try to move the picture into the folder showing all of my pictures, I get a "photo already in catalogue, cannot be imported" message.

CS4 and have elements 5 and 7 both have photos in them. I want to move these photos to CS4 or to the CS4 Bridge, not sure witch to use. What is the easyest way as I want to give the Elements 7 to sister. I shoot with a Nikon D200 that I bought when they first came out. Before that I had a Nikon D70s, N80 was last film camera, I still have it. Before buying the N80 I always used Pentax cameras.

With my CS2, I could hold down CTRL key, highlight several photos, click 'open in photoshop', and all 3 would open.
With my CS3, I can hold CTRL key down - highlight several photos, and it will open only 1 'in photoshop'.
Will a setting change 'fix' it, or will CS3 simply not do it?

I'm using Photoshop CS2 on XP Media Center Edition. I cannot, for the life of me, find out how set the default dpi of images being brought into Photoshop.
At the moment I'm using an Action but that's pretty time intensive when I have to bring in more than a few photos. Sometimes I have 2 or 3 hundred to do.

In CS5 you could move an open photo window by click and hold and move the window to wherever you wanted without Photoshop being the active app in the forground. In CS6 you can no longer do this. You first have to click the photo/window which will bring Photoshop to the forground, then you have to click and hold again to be able to move the photo to wherever you want.
Is this a bug or a feature in CS6?
If it's a new feature or the way it's suppose to work, I vote to make it like it worked in CS5....this is not progress! Mac Pro running 10.7.

Every once in a while I print that has two side-by-side images on one piece of paper. My usual routine is to create a new document that is larger than the two images--say, 10x8 (horizontal) with a transparent background and the same resolution as the two images that I'll be placing on the canvas (say, two 4x3's). Then I simply click on the image I want to move and drag it from its layers palette onto the blank background canvas, and move/edit/size as needed.
when I drag an image over to the blank canvas, it assumes the size of the entire canvas. so I just have the image... enlarged. With no background canvas. when I click on the new image (the one dragged to the canvas), all of the editing commands are grayed out. So I cannot resize or move it.I'm on CS5 (mac)

First - I am not an expert in the Color settings/Profiles topic but I am thinking there is an issue here.
When I look at this image "McCroreyDigitalLogo.png" in Photoshop the 'whites' appear right. Then when I import it into ms PowerPoint, the whites look yellowish.
I have done a series of 'tests' and it seems to be that the color profile out of photoshop and the one in PowerPoint are not compatible.I have reset my Photoshop preferences with no luck/change to the results.
Finally, I did a screen shot out of photoshop and pasted that into Powerpoint. The white appeared correct. Basically any files I run through PS, when they are imported into PowerPoint, the whites turn yellow.

I remember from older versions of Xara that you could copy a drawing from Xara, paste it into MS Powerpoint and here still edit the drawing after ungouping and converting inside Powerpoint.
This doesn't seem to work anymore with Xara Designer 6 Pro. When I copy the drawing it only pastes the text from the drawing into Powerpoint. Exporting wmf or emf did not work well enough. The drawing ist there, but you cann not edit it in Powerpoint. Yes: Exporting as jpg, gif or png is no problem, but not what I want.
So my question is: What is the best way of importing drawings into Powerpoint and still use them as a vector file in Powerpoint. (It is so much easier to create the graphics in Xara ...)
