Photoshop :: LCS6 / Lens Corrections For Canon SX50 Camera?

Jan 2, 2013

Can Photoshop CS6 (Windows 8) make lens corrections for the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS camera? My version of CS6 (64bit) is Photoshop: 13.0.1 x64 and CameraRaw plug-in is 7.3.0.71. There is a file "Canon PowerShot SX50 HS AdobeStandard.dcp" size 118KB in the folder c:Program DataAdobeCameraRawCameraProfilesAdobeStandard. However when I open a Cameras Raw file (*.CR2 for Canon) in Camera Raw and go to the Lens Corrections window with (under Lens Profile) Make = Canon I cannot find my camera in the drop-down list for Model. The list has 30 items ending with Canon PowerShot S100.

I have tried removing Photoshop, re-installing it and installing the updates, but this has made no change. I have been using Photoshop under Windows 8 since early in October 2012, and everthing else seems to be operating correctly.

Lightroom :: DNG Conversion Of Sony ARW Not Carrying Over In Camera Lens Corrections

Jan 10, 2013

One of the great features of the Sony NEX-7 is that the NEX-7 makes automatic lens corrections for vignetting, chromatic aberration and distortion problems. These corrections are written to the file and the preview. However, when converting these images from ARW to DNG the correction data seems to be lost, and the images revert to their uncorrected state. This requires all images to then be re corrected with the Adobe lens profiles, which is both tedious, an extra step, and also seems to produce results that are somewhat less optimal than the original corrections made by the camera.

Should not the ACR Converter and Lightroom retain the lens corrections made by the camera?

Photoshop :: CS6 No Lens Profiles (lens Correction Filter) For Canon 6D Raw Files?

Apr 15, 2013

LightRoom and Camera Raw have profiles for Lens Correction and all the current available lens are  in the list for the Canon 6D raw files. BUT the Filter/Lens Correction when in Photoshop CS6 only have 2 Tamron lens listed. Odd that there are lens profiles for the Canon 6D raw files  in Lightroom and Camera RAW but not CS6 Filter/Lens Correction.

Camera RAW, LR and PS are up to date..... NOTE: I have a Canon 7D, G11 and 1D Mark II N and all their files work as expected. It's only RAW files created by the Canon 6D.

Lightroom :: 5.3 Lens Corrections Have Disappeared?

Mar 9, 2014

All of a sudden, nearly all profiles have disappeared. I first noticed this with my Sony RX1, when I went to apply the profile correction, and there was nothing.  Usually the program identified the camera automatically. When I looked at old pictures, it was the same, nearly. If I used "custom" then it would give me only Nikon and/or Sony, but only one lens for each camera, not relevant to what I had used to take the photograph.  For some pictures it would recognize the lens, but it would not give me options to change it (if I wanted to).

Lightroom :: Correction Off After Re-enabling Lens Corrections

Feb 2, 2013

I would like to inform all about an (in my view) incorrect behaviour of LR:

In order to speed up my workflow i disable detail and lens corrections for all images immediately after the import (select all, auto sync is on, turn off detail and lens corrections). With this panels turned off I can do basic operations like cropping etc much, much quickier. I shoot badminton sport and have to process hundreds of images. After the basic corrections I re-enable detail and lens corrections for all images which should restore the previous settings of this panels or at least the default (ISO specific) settings (which is the same in my case). But the "Remove Chromatic Aberrations" remains off, even if it was on before and on by default for all my lenses! I consider this to be a bug.

Lightroom :: Fuji X100s Lens Corrections In 5?

Sep 2, 2013

I keep hearing conflicting reports about how Lightroom handles lens corrections for the Fuji X100s.  Some say you need to use the X100 profile while others say that Lightroom applies the corrections automatically, behind the scenes, based on info embedded in the raw file itself and that selecting the X100 profile would only "double up" on the corrections.  Others have said that there is no X100s profile yet but NOT to use the X100 profile because it might make things worse since the sensor has changed and the new X-Trans sensor and lens combination would likely need different corrections than the old one.

Lightroom :: What Causes Enable Lens Corrections To Sometimes Not Work

Sep 28, 2013

In the below print screen, the lens should be 70-200 f2.8, which normally is found.  The only difference with this photo is that it was accidently shot as a JPG and not RAW.  I dont see how that makes a difference since the metadata still lists the correct lens as you can see on the screenshot:

The lens profile defaulted to "None". And you can see the dropdown I need to use when this happens.  When I select "Nikon", the profile is USUALLY then enabled, but not always.

This has stopped working in the past for unknown reasons.  If I "enable" a whole day of photos from multiple lenses and bodies --that is when it is mostly likely to fail (even though these lenses all have profiles). Perhaps a better question is how does the lookup logic work in the first place?  I tend to take it on faith when a product's features work until I'm forced to figure it out. In "Setup" I don't know what the various options do.  Normally it just works.   I do not know the difference between "default" "auto" and "custom" nor do I know the function of "Save" and "Reset".

Lightroom :: Lens Corrections With Multiple Lenses (SYNC)

Feb 15, 2013

I often use a couple of lenses when I am out shooting.  When I return I import all my photos into LR.  I would like to apply LENS CORRECTION to all photos so I selected all the photos that I have imported (CNTL A) and then go to the lens correction area in the development panel.  I then "ENABLE LENS CORRECTION"  and SYNC the photos.

When I do this it applies the lens correction from the len used in shooting the first photo in the series of photos that I have selected.  It DOES NOT recognise when I change lenses.  HOWEVER, if I go to any specific individual photo and enable lens correction it does apply the correct lens profile.

WHY does the sync not recognize a change in lenses?

Lightroom :: Lens Profile Not Listed In Corrections Panel

May 8, 2013

I'm using Lightroom 4, currently waiting to upgrade to 4.4.  However, I'm having a problem not finding any of my lens profiles listed in the lens correction control panel.  If I check the box, "Enable Profile Corrections" and then select from the "Lens Profile" dropdown menu, I get a list of only six available lens brands: Apple, Canon, Nikon, Sigma, Sony, and Tamron.  This is odd, because when I view the package contents for the software under Package Contents > Contents > Plugins > Resources > Lens Profiles - ALL the lenses that I use (Pentax) ARE listed there.  Why then will they not show up in the interface of the actual software when running?

Lightroom :: Lens Corrections Applied To Corrected Images?

Aug 29, 2013

I was just looking through some images and I realized that somehow I have managed to apply lens corrections to exported jpeg and tiff files. These are images that I exported from raw to tiff to jpg through Photoshop and what I think happened was that I didn't notice that Lens Corrections were being applied when I reimported the tiff back into Lightroom. Of course, the lens correction was applied when I developed the raw and made the tiff in Photoshop (or JPEG when I exported thru Lightroom), so a second correction just distorts the image.

is there some mechanism in Lightroom that keeps you from shooting yourself in the foot this way?

Photoshop :: Lens Correction Won't List Camera And Lens

Jul 19, 2012

Why won't the Lens Correction filter recognize my camera and lens, which is shown in the metadata below the correction window?  I had been using the venerable Canon 5D Mk II and now the Mk III.  For images taken with the III it doesn't even list Canon in the Camera drop down -- too new?  Even with the II, I had to choose the camera manually and then choose the lens from a very tedious list, and had no indication if it was using the focal length in the case of a zoom, or the aperture.

I do strongly prefer to do this correction in Camera Raw or Lightroom, and realize it needs to be done on an uncropped image to be accurate. why even present it as an auto correction if it can't use the metadata?  Why not just limit it to the manual correction?

Lightroom :: How To Get Custom Default Settings To Enable Lens Profile Corrections Automatically On Import

Jan 20, 2012

I have created default settings by serial number for my Canon Mark III 1ds which include enabled lens profile corrections.  I then created a user preset with these default corrections.  Next I imported a folder of RAW images shot with this same Canon camera with the user profile checked as part of the import.  When I switch to the Develop module and check the Lens Corrections panel, I see that although it is checked for each file, the actual make, model and profile are not populated.

Is this a bug or am I overlooking something on import?  I understand that in LR 4, you can apply specific lens and camera calibration profiles to camera serial numbers (noise reduction etc too).

Lightroom :: Lens Profile For Canon 500mm F/4?

Jan 19, 2012

I seem to remember that there used to be a lens profile for the Canon 500mm f/4 lens in my older versions of Lightroom 3, but now when I use LR3.6, I see "none" listed when looking for a profile for this lens in the Develop module.  Is this a change in 3.6 or am I mistaken?  This probably is not a big deal because I don't remember seeing much change when turning on the profile correction before for this lens, but I am beginning to wonder if I was imagining something.... If the profile was dropped from the latest version, are there any independent profiles for this lens?  Can you remind me how to load a user developed profile?
