Photoshop :: Making Image Backgrounds Transparent
Sep 1, 2005I need help making the background of several images transparent using Photo Shop. For instance, I have a picture of a flower that appears to be floating on a white background, but when you try to insert the picture on a page with a color background, the white shows up too. I would just like for the flower to appear directly on the color background of the page. I hope this makes sense. I just want to make the background of the picture itself completely transparent. How can I do this using Photo Shop?

Aug 19, 2012I just purchased Paint Shop Pro X4, and do have one question about making transparent images.
I’m designing a simple, basic text-only logo for my web site. I know how to make the image transparent. That’s not a problem, if I'm using a plain solid color as the background of the page.
What I would like to know is this: How do I make the text logo transparent if the page background of my web site is an image, such as a photograph, or textual wallpaper. I’ve never tried that, and am wondering if that will make the creation of a transparent GIF more difficult.
Is the procedure for making a transparent GIF different in this case? If so, what steps should I take?
Illustrator :: Preserving White Areas But Not Backgrounds In Image Trace
Feb 26, 2014I've got a little graphic that I'm working on at the moment. I am trying to trace it using the Image Trace feature in illustrator.

Everything's hunky dory apart from the fact that the original graphic has a lot of white features on it that I want to preserve. These white bits are not bordered so, in the main page of illustrator, they merge with the white background. When I go to use Image Trace, I can either select "Ignore white" which leaves out all of this white detailing, or I can deselect it which means that the trace then includes the white background and the whole image is set into an annoying box.

how I can remedy this? I know in Photoshop, there's that checked background that shows when your work surface is empty. Is there a way of getting this same thing in Illustrator?
AutoCAD Inventor :: IBL Image Based Lighting Scene Backgrounds Not Appearing
Jun 10, 2012when I am trying to use the lighting style scenes (such as old warehouse) I get this message "Cannot find the source Oldwarehouse of the image based lighting" and the background image does not appear I only get the same old gradient backgroud. (see attached file)
I know the IBL files exist and know where they are but I have moved the folders from the default location on my C: drive due to space reasons and changed the respective filepaths in the application options. However it seems inventor has not understood that the path to these IBL background files has changed... is there some filepath setting somewhere that I have missed?
I am using inventor 2013.

Jul 6, 2008So everytime I open a new document it's not a transparent background. Ill even start a new document as transparent and RGB. Still a white background when it is created. So I tried adding an image. Deleted the first layer. Still nothing. So I used a magic wand, deleted the background. Still white.
I remember having this problem before and my professor told me what it was. But I forget what she said, it was over a year ago. Anyone have any ideas?

Aug 12, 2004make logos with transparent backgrounds, so that when they are placed in a DTP program (PageMaker) they do not have a white box around them, I have been using PhotoShop’s transparent export functions but inevitably this leave the image looking bitmapped, especially with text, or just plain bad. Jan 8, 2013Adjusting color backgrounds. I have a large number of images of fly-fishing flies which were photographed on not-quite-solid backgrounds of slightly differing colors. I'd like to efficiently adjust the backgrounds so they all appear roughly the same without affecting the flies themselves. The flies are hard to select because of their feathery, hair-like edges, and the backgrounds are hard to select because they have slight gradations of almost-solid colors.

Jul 15, 2012I want to throw together a few Sonic pictures that will alternate every so often for the background of my laptop. The first attached picture of sonic (Blue hedgehog) is what I currently have. I like the simple style of the picture.
How to keep the background fully black. Change the colors of the 'lasers' to a color suitable for the other charters and then replace sonic for that character in a similar size?
For example.
Red lasers + Knuckles the echidna
Orange lasers + Tails the fox
Grey/red + Shadow the hedgehog
White + Silver the hedgehog
If you see where I'm going with this. I don't want the character pictures to look cartoony I want the pictures created to be as similar to the original sonic picture as possible and I'll attach some pictures of the other charters to show you who they are and the kind of thing I want.
Also If you look at the original sonic picture his hands and feet look a tiny bit blurred. If the picture looks like it contains movement could you add slight blur to emphasize that.
4 pictures altogether if allowed. Similar to the sonic one. Different colored laser. then picture of the other characters replacing sonic.
