I've just installed GIMP to see if it can replace Photoshop for me. But I experience some weird troubles. When I try to use the text tool I can't type anything because all the keys acts as shortcut keys. Aren't these supposed to be overridden when using things like the text tool? I also have the same problems with dialog boxes. The tab key is used to hide toolbars, but when I open dialog boxes I would rather want to use tab to jump from one input box to another. Plus I couldn't enter numbers because the number keys was shortcuts for zoom level.I guess I'm just doing this all wrong? I'm on OSX Maverick.
have finished loading 2007 onto them. Now, back with 2006 we could set osnaps to the function keys (e.g. F2 to snap to END). I have been told that you can't do this with 2007.
I am running CAD 2007 LT. Old laptop runs windows XP. On black Friday I purchased a new laptop with windows 7. All is well except the F3 & F8 I am so used to aren't allowing me to toggle on off. I have discovered that the fn button (lower left) by the ctrl button will let me toggle 1 time but have to hit the fn each time then F3 or F8.
changing the F12 key. I want to use it set the UCS to object. I assume it done be amending the CUI. I found the shortcut for the current use of the F12 which reads
I have a HP laptop on which I run AutoCAD 2012 AND Civil3D 2012 both of which for some reason do not have the function keys working as normal. Oddly enough if I attach an external keyboard, the function keys work as expected.
when I assign "" to OverrideShortcut the the OverrideShortcutType is kNoShortcut when I assign "D" to OverrideShortcut the the OverrideShortcutType is kAliasShortcut when I assign "Ctrl+D" to OverrideShortcut the the OverrideShortcutType is kAcceleratorShortcut
So far so good but now:
when I assign "F11" to OverrideShortcut the the OverrideShortcutType becomes kAliasShortcut resulting in:
I have to type F 11 to launch the command. What I want is to Press the key F11 to lunch the command instead of typing F 11
(This works good with Ctrl+D but not with F11)
Can I work around this to use the Function key's ?
I'm getting an intermittent problem where some of the keyboard keys just stop working in Photoshop (64 and 32 bit versions). It's usually the alt key first, but only on the right side. Then the ctl key too, but again only on the right, left side keys work fine. Other keys stop working too, but they are not as commonly used for me (/., etc.) The [ and ] keys that I use for brush size also stop working. It seems to be Photoshop specific as other programs are fine. Restarting Pshop fixes it for a while, but not for long. Is anyone else having this problem or have a clue for me? There were some posts (unresolved) about something similar in Illustrator CS4, but nothing I could find on Pshop. Just switched to a new workstation running Vista64, and CS4. I use a Cintiq and the latest Wacom drivers.I have a brand new Logitech wireless keyboard (mx3200) and have tested it and updated the software. I have reset all shortcuts and the user interface to default etc. but no joy.
Following a recent thread on centering images, the subject of guides came up and MindBender suggested assigning this to a function key - to place horizontal and vertical guides at 50%. I too have this assigned and wonder what else we all keep at hand with those function keys?
I come from the video field, I started taking professionals photographs recently and took some pictures against a green background for a video that I was doing.
What is the BEST way to do a chroma key on photoshop? I dont find any 'chroma key' function as in Adobe Premiere for example, but I know there must be a way. I tried 'selecting' and area but I dont think that's the best way to do it
Please have in mind I am not an 'expert' on photoshop, I know my way around it and can follow instructions very well.
I recently installed PS CS2 (bought via Amazon) and it seems many keys do not work properly and are misintepreted by PS.
For example -
F1 - F2 stands for p,q,r,s,t...z,} Delete for ","
Also Escape and arrows do not work as they should (maybe also some other) - this is most evident while editing a text, then when I press Esc, Del or F# then it's just inserting symbols instead of cancelling, deleting, or nothing (in case of F#)
Shift,Alt,Ctrl works fine
In the same time I installed PS I also changed my keyboard, however when I tried the previous one it was the same and also I didn't notice any other problem anywhere else with it, so it really should be PS.
I have Windows XP SP3 czech version
I triend to reinstall PS with erasing preferences and didn't work, updated to 9.0.2 and nothing. Also searched for drivers but found none for my keyboard (Genius KB-10X V2)...however as I've said it works fine everywhere else
What is the shortcut keys to "menu bar" on Photoshop on mac? I just want to go to the menus below, by using shortcut. Â File Edit Image Layer Type Select Filter 3D View Window HelpÂ
Recently purchased a new computer with 64 bit system 4meg ram. I installed CS2 and everything seems to be working except the arrow keys and the control +/- features. Arrow keys are working in other programs like word and publisher.
why my shortcut keys are not working in PS? In PS7, I find functions like Cntl+Shift+I will not select the inverse. A few other commands do not work. In PS8 almost NO short cuts work....not even Cntl Z!
I notice that some of the shortcuts/hot keys don't work. For example, one basic hot key that does not work is the F7-key. The F7-key opens and closes the layers palette. Â Another hot key that does not work is the spacebar. My teacher taught me to hold the spacebar down when you want to move the canvas around. When I am in handtool mode I hold the spacebar down, I then apply pressure on my laptops touchpad, I then slide my finger across my laptops touchpad in order to try and move the canvas, but the canvas does not budge. Â Some shortcuts work. For example, tapping the F-key multiple times will expand and reduce the size of Photoshop. Â Closing my web browser did not resolve the problem. Updating the software did not resolve the problem.
I'm on a Mac Pro, quad core, 9 GB memory. I have been using CS5 for all my photo work and use Bridge and ACR to do all of my editing. I have set up two monitors with content on the right screen as thumbnails and preview (and other tabs) on the left screen. To do my edits I use the right/left arrow keys to scroll through the images (and then make my picks/ratings) as I go. Â I just installed CS6 Demo and am trying to do the same thing...everything else works normally but the right/left arrow keys (moving from image to image) now takes 4 to 5 seconds to bring up the image (CS5 was instant). All paramaters/settings/preferences are the same. I know CS6 needs a more powerful video card (mine is only 256 mb...I will be upgrading soon)...but here's the weird thing which leads me to believe that's not the problem...the up and down arrow keys work normally, i.e. they go from image to image instantly. I edit folders of images that range from 200 to 300, up to 1500 images from a shoot on a daily basis so I need this to work for me!
Also, I'm having problems trying to run a batch in CS6, I set up an action identical to what I had running in CS5 (embedding a text logo on an image) and while it goes through the process of doing the action, at the end it pops up an error message and lists all the images saying it could not process the request. Weird or what?
I very recently installed CS6. I have used Photoshop for years (CS5, CS3, CS, ...).  Now under CS6 I find that periodically the [ and ] keys will not resize the brush. I have to restart Photoshop to get them to work again.
and not just a brush tool? im looking through the menus and only see keyshortcuts for the tools themselves,
i am (beginner) digital painter, so being able to switch from the different types of brushes by pressing one key on the keyboard would speed up my work flow an unspeakable amount.
i am on a Mac, running the first version of Photoshop CS...i kept getting windows about my scratch disks being full, so our IT guy showed me how to go into the preferences and select the scartch disks...ever since then some of the quick key commands no longer work...
for example, holding down the space bar to get the hand to move the screen no longer works, holding down the space bar and the apple (command key) to get the maginfying glass doesn't work, and when i go to transform something, i used to be able to hold down the shift key to maintain the proportions of the object i was transforming, that also no longer works...
When using the standard type tool, periodically, the keyboard arrow keys will not work. You can manually change your selection point, but not by using the left of right arrow.
I searched this issue and found many forums discussing the topic, but no solution. When using PS CS6, the arrow keys randomly stop working when navigating around in text. This is extremely frustrating. Per other discussions, and my experience, there doesn't seem to be a constant trigger. Saving the PS file when it happens SEEMS to fix it - at least temporarily. It's been happening off and on since I upgraded. Â Adobe reps (they're say "employee") monitoring the photoshop.com forums suggested the fix is to close all other apps. No one works that way. Chrome (or other browsers) were speculated to be the cause. but I just had this happen without any browser open.
