I been using photoshop for a couple months now and is getting real good at it but i need to get more fonts and brushes..does anyone know how i can get more that are free?..also once i download them how do i install them into photoshop...

i downloaded some free fonts and tried to implement them...one worked. But now my brushes aren't working as in when i open the library of brushes and click it pops up and says "unknown error has occurred". are these 2 linked?

I've had luck finding some nice ones made by deviantart users (especially a grunge-brush pack called "Fracture"), but almost every other "free" package has just been sample watered-down version of the actual brushes (which they make you buy).
I would pay for them if I intended to use them in any art I was going to sell, but since it's just for fun and making siggys and what not... freebies are the way to go.
So, anybody have any resource sites?
are these fonts really free to use for commericial jobs? also once ive donwloaded them how do i use them in PS? anyone know any other similar sites?

The first few pages of Google results yield pay websites, and I just didn't have the patience to keep hunting for the free ones.
i usually zoom in about 800 percent and use the eraser tool to cut stuff out. is that the best way to do it ? also whats a good website for free brushes, especially like graffiti brushes like splatters n stuff ?
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I got my CS4 back in the fall, I selected the SanVito font as my registration freebie. I downloaded & installed as directed, but the fonts never appeared in PS. I didn't think too much about it then because I don't do much graphic work - just photos. Then a couple weeks ago I finally got around to installing CS4 on my laptop. I got an option on another set of freebies for the 2nd registration, and picked the fonts again, remembering that they weren't showing up. Again, I downloaded & installed in accordance with the directions. All 16 files are confirmed in my "fonts" folder (sorry, using Win XP). However, if I open MS Word, only 8 of the SanVito fonts are available. Word is an old version, so OK, I can understand that it might not support all of them - maybe. But in PS, not a single one is there. This is the 2nd time now that the fonts are installed where they should be, but aren't recognized by CS4 (and are only 1/2 recognized by Word). Anyone have that problem? Any ideas on what might be preventing them from displaying? CS4 shows a ton of fonts, and I've never had a problem with any other font that I've downloaded not appearing.

My mac screen got damaged so got new mbp..Have installed Photoshop 5 etc from discs ...However, all my photoshop everythings, the patterns I use, the brushes I have made, actions i've downloaded, shapes, fonts, & knoll factory filter they are all still on my broken laptop
How do I transfer them?I do have an external hd, time machine, but was gonna leave that with old mbp tho could use it tho not plugged it in to new 1, not sure on that.Ideally would prefer to burn my things to cd from 1 & transfer. Is that possible?
I did try this with "Presets" section, I got nothing extra, but don't think I damaged anything. Have trawlled google.

Right now when I add a brush library, they just stack on top of one another.
For example let's say I have a round brush with a 10 diameter, then next to it a round brush with a 20 diameter. If I make a 15, it goes to the bottom of the list, and I have to scroll all around. How can I group them?
I suspect I would have to make my own brush library with my brushes how I want them, then save that and load it?
I want to see "resent" fonts when choosing, be able to type letter to get down the list quickly, group similar fonts, etc. Maybe have a magnifying glass attached to cursor to see fonts better.... Why have this not been done?
View 1 Replies View RelatedOnce I installed windows 7, while I WAS using PSE 9, I had the tiny font problem. I stopped using PSE for 2 years. I just installed PSE 11. Though better, the Font is still way smaller than I would like. Maybe it's just tougher for seniors? Can they not make the font adjustable? I was told there is no way to increase the size of the font?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIt used to be that I very rarely used fonts within CS5 but recently I have. I realized that all of the fonts supposedly included with CS5 are not available via my drop down menu.
I then found these fonts in Windows/fonts so I copied all of those fonts into Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Fonts. These unavailble fonts are now listed in that folder but are still not available via the dropdown menu in PS CS5.
I've recently read that the fonts don't really even NEED to be in the Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Fonts folder and that PS should actually make all of the fonts in Windows/Fonts available via the dropdown menu. Yes, I have restarted PS after copying the files and also tried rebooting my PC after copying the files. The fonts are still not available via the drop down text menu within PS even though all of them are now in both locations.
I have put some new fonts into C:/windows/fonts and they have come up in other programs e.g. Microsoft office but they are not showing up in photoshop.
i am using vista home premium with SP1 and it is 32bit and photoshop cs4.

View 10 Replies View Relatednever knew there has a font folder in the user profile for Gimp until I wiped my user profile and moved all patterns, gradients, brushes, etc I have been putting in the program folder to the user profile folder because I read on here that it is better to keep all that stuff in the user profile folder of Gimp... my question is, what is the difference between installing your fonts into the system and placing them into the fonts folder in Gimp (besides all programs being able to use them)?? I've been installing all my fonts into the system I wanna use in Gimp... is it better to use the font folder in the Gimp user profile or to install them into the system?

I think you should read the original mail again. Hint: "system fonts not shown" is not the problem, but the desired outcome.I have accidentally read a "not" into the original mail, thus it became "to get Gimp to *not* only show fonts from the user/fonts file"
The configuration to check is the fonconfig settings then, for example the the global, system-wide fonts.conf file. It may contain references to the global font directories, for example /usr/share/fonts/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts. URL....
If you comment those out, then you can (and have to) add all font directories in GIMP's settings, for example.

View 18 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue when trying to use the Free Transform function in Photoshop CS5.1. After pressing command+T, the bounding box appears, but when I attempt to resize, the program becomes unresponsive. After a minute or two I can cancel the Free Transform and the program become responsive once again. Seems to be more of an issue when trying to transform more than one layer at once.
I am on a 1 year old MacBook Pro with 16GB, I have 10 GB of free space. I am on OS X 10.7.5 (recently installed this upgrade and this may be part of the issue.)
I am in 64-bit mode. My memory usage set at 70%. The cache tile size is set to 1024K . I have reset my settings, ran all available updates.
My card specs are:
Video Card Vendor: ATI Technologies Inc.
Video Card Renderer: ATI Radeon HD 6750M OpenGL Engine
After visiting the AMD site, found that they do not have an update for 10.7.5 and do not have the HD6750 listed for Mac.
Edit: Also, cannot move the image once I press command+T. (Or at least it make the program unresponsive for a while)
Update: Uninstalled entire design suite and re-installed. Still having the same issue.
Does antone know a good place to get some free photoshop shapes? I have done a google search, but come up pretty empty handed.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI try to free transform an image whether it be rotating, enlarging, scewing or whatever, after I deselect, photoshop or imageready will automatically try and blur the image around so it seems smoother.
This is fine most of the time, but it produces some transparent pixels, and gifs have problems with these. Is there a way to stop PS and IR from doing this on a free transform so it just leaves the image as it is before deselecting?
i'm trying to stretch some text (but only the top right corner and the top left corner)
some of my transform functions are greyed out (this might have something to do with the problem?)
I can only seem to make the overall text larger/smaller/rotete ect....
