How do you type a foreign language (with special characters) using the type tool? How do you access foreign language characters? Is this something I can easily do with Photoshop 7? Or do I need to have some other element on my computer? Like another language keyboard layout?
View 1 RepliesI have Photoshop CS3, and when I try to type with the foreign fonts installed on my computer, I either see regular english letters or lines or rectangles. I have downloaded the latest patch, and have also deleted the preference file by hitting ctrl, alt, shift during setup. I am still experiencing the same problem with the fonts!
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I select a font for the type tool in CS6, there's a list of about 200 fonts - half of which are foreign-language fonts, which I really don't need to see. Is there any way I can remove these from the list of fonts visible in the type tool without deleting them from the system? I don't want to delete them entirely, because I gather that Microsoft's cross-referencing system for font styles needs them. And who knows, one day I might actually need a 14th-century Mongolian font!
It must be possible, because other programs (such as Microsoft Word, and the Visual Studio programming environment) on the same system don't show all the non-European fonts.

I'm trying to import foreign characters into Ventura 10 that are not available in the Multinational A or B sets under Insert | Symbols. If I simply copy and paste them from Word, nothing shows up in Ventura. Is there any way to get these "extra" foreign characters to appear?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Gimp 2.6.11. I have had the same issue with all older versions.
For whatever reason, GIMP refuses to open any file that contains non-English characters. For example, if I try to open a file called GoranDragićDunk.png, it will tell me there is no such file or directory. Changing the file name to GoranDragicDunk.png fixes the issue, so it's clearly to do with having Ć instead of C. Now, the problem is that it also does this if the foreign characters are found anywhere within the path, so that it will not open C:\My Files\NBA\GoranDragić\AwesomePass.png either because it contains the Ć within the path name.
Now, I know that older versions of programs such as Adobe Acrobat had this same issue, but it was fixed years ago. Am I the first person to notice this with GIMP? It shocks me that such a simple thing has not been fixed yet. Would I have to install a foreign-language version of GIMP?
I want to type in gimp(using text tool) with some special characters from my native language like(ā, ē, č, ķ, ģ). If i try to do it in gimp I get á, é, ć, ḱ, ǵ. Are there some settings or plugins that allow me to type these non-English characters like I do it usually.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen designing a sign for a customer, I take a photo of the existing signs, place on a new document in illustrator cs6, type text then scroll through the text character drop down menu to match the new sign text to the font that is currently on the customers signs, business card etc.
There are many different types of fonts and I would prefer not to have the adobe system fonts, asian, arabic and other fonts that are not used for my purposes.
Is there a way to remove them from this list.
I have tried deleteing them from the window 7 font manager but they are essential system fonts and it displays a message that some programes will not work if I delete them.
I have tried show/hide in the windows 7 font manager but this has no effect on the fonts displayed in illustrator.
When I have any kind of layer, and I want to change the foreign or background color (with the color picker) I just cant. When I click on the foreign or background color it automatically selects the eyedropper tool, and I don't want this to happen.

I have purchased this program from the physical person, and this is a German version. The documentation, package and the instruction are published in English, that is why I thought that this program is English version as well.
My question is: if I can install English version from different source using my original key?

I bought a used computer from someone so I am not sure what was previously on his computer. I downloaded the trial version of Photoshop CS form CNET. After install the language was in Italian. Uninstalling and re-installing does not help. I am thinking that there must be a registry entry somewhere but I cannot find it.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOk, I have "English: UK" set as my interface language, yet I don't see any actual UK spelling anywhere whatsoever.
Every single mention of "Color" is not spelled as "Colour", "Gray" when it should be "Grey", "Fibers" -> "Fibres", and most likely others I haven't spotted yet.
So what is the point of having the UK language option if it's exactly the same as the US one? Call me picky, but I did choose UK for a reason. It would have been nice to see the correct spelling being used for the language I chose.
