Mar 8, 2005

I am trying to make some images for a new application. Unfortunately, i am a horrible graphics designer The images are circles with a symbol or letter inside.

They look fine in photoshop, yet when i put them up on the site, they are transparent gifs, most of the images get jaggy.

Photoshop :: How Do They Avoid Jaggies In GIFs?

Jul 19, 2006

I am having issue with smoothing my GIF images so that they do not display as jagged in my flash movies.

I am developing them in freehand and then web preping them in photoshop by maximising the colours to ensure high quality display - not worried about movie size right now (i just want to find the fine end of the graphic spectrum).

I am applying the following settings on saving for web: GIF selective, diffusion 256 colours and so on, following all the correct properties and my images (particularily lines and edges) are coming out jagged and pixelated. I have tried gaussian blur but this kills my image clarity and then they just look too soft.

Photoshop :: Transparent Gifs

Feb 23, 2006

I'm created a web page with a drag java script where people can move pictures with there mouse. I uploaded all the pictures to my picture hoster, put all the code in...and I've noticed that theres the matte around when the pictures got moved over another picture. so i went back into ps and put the matte to none..and it seemed to fix the problem until the pictures turned out all choppy.

is there any way to get the transparent gif with non choppy edges and without matte?

I've been searching the web and trying out numerous things is photoshop, but it just seems impossible.

is ps the right program to use? I tried paintshop pro...but it just seems more complicated than ps.

Photoshop :: Transparent Gifs ?

Jan 10, 2005

I am trying to make a transparent gif; basically I want white text on a transparent background. I have Photoshop and Illustrator when I make the image everything looks fine than I save for web and if you put the gif in front of a color (in HTML/IE) the text edges are blocky, it sort of looks like it is a low Res. however it is a normal res. like 72 or 96. The other interesting part is that if I save for web with a colored background it looks fine.

Photoshop :: Transparent GIFs In PS6

Oct 25, 2004

I just moved up to PS 5.5 to 6 (maybe someday I'll be able to afford CS!).

In PS 5.5, you select which colors to make transparent through File > Export > GIF-95 (or something like that).

For the life of me, I can't find an option in PS 6 to select transparent colors.

Photoshop :: PS 5.5 V PS 6 Transparent GIFs

Nov 6, 2005

In PS 5.5 to make a transparent GIF, you selected the color you wanted transparent from the palette of colors in the specific image. But I don't see how that's possible with the Save For Web in PS 6. Is it?

Thing is, what I need to do is mask around parts of the image, and than make the mask color transparent.

Photoshop :: Transparent GIFs And White Speckle/fringe

Jan 4, 2007

I need to be able to save an image with a transparent background which will appear ontop of different colored backgrounds. No matter what I do, I can't get rid of the nasty white fringe/speckles around the image. I've tried everything possible and I've only been able to reduce it.

I've played with different image settings, I've removed the Matte before saving, I've mapped different colors for transparency, etc.

I have anti-aliasing checked at the top, and haven't changed anything that I know of.It seems to get worse when the image is resized and made smaller also.

Photoshop :: Circles Inside Circles (or Rings)

Feb 11, 2005

I'm trying to make a logo. Circular logo with an inner ring maybe 4 px wide and 15 px inside the rim of the outer circle.

Basically I want a blue circle with a yellow inside ring. What's the best way of doing this? The only thing i can think of is: creating a blue circle marquee, and then another (trying to estimate a new circle size and change the color) that is yellow, and then making another smaller blue circle inside the new one. That's just ugly.

I tried the edit/stroke but that just gave me a stroke around the outer circle; it didn't put a ring inside the circle 15 px down.

Also I tried to contract the original circle by selecting it, then Modify/contract. That's got me a selected ring, inside the circle. Now how in the world do I make that little ring yellow? It just remains selected and I can't seem to find a way to color it.

Photoshop :: Avoiding Jaggies In 3D Renderings

Oct 7, 2012

I'm noticing Jaggies in a rendering done with Image Based Light at the edges of bright reflections.  Obviously I'd rather not have such jaggies.

I have the feeling that the problem is because the light is so bright that the rendering is ending up with a clipped result at edges between extreme bright and dark.

Afterward, I chose "Save for Web," and exported the file as a .png file.

The result is a file with jagged edges. How do I save the file to preserve the smooth vector look of the original file?

VideoStudio :: Jaggies When Panning - Can Shutter Speed Have An Effect

Nov 1, 2013

I have recently upgraded to a HiDef video camera and at first was recording at 1080i (interlaced) and now changed to record at 1080p (progressive).

I have noticed when viewing (on my PC) some of the clips I recorded that there are 'jagggies' along the edges of objects.

I have found that this is a result of 'interlace' and possibly panning too fast. My camera displays a warning "camera is panning too fast" if in fact I do pan too fast but this was not the case as when recording with panning I usually pan so slowly that I often have to increase playback speed during editing AND also the clips I viewed were on people walking in the same direct at the camera, hardly panning too fast. With that said I am thinking (and hoping) that it was a result of using 1080i (interlaced).

This begs the question - Can shutter speed have an effect. The reason for the question is that I have noticed that my new camera (seems to) automatically sets the shutter speed faster and leave the aperture wide when there is a lot of light (I can see that by changing to MANUAL mode and noting the aperture and shutter speed.

If this is the case then should try using a NEUTRAL DENSITY filter to force the camera to use a slower shutter speed? I used to have to do this with my old MiniDV camera to prevent overexposure in brightly lit scenes (the shutter speed never seemed to change without me manually doing so).

Photoshop :: Fixing Up My Drawings

I've got are some scans of some drawings I've made and I'd like to get rid of a few blemishes. First of all, a few of them have some really ugly creases where they've been folded. How can I get rid of those? Second, some of them were too big to scan all at once and I had to connect several scans together in one JPEG. The borders between them are obvious and I'd like to know how to smooth them over so it's not so obvious that the whole was put together with several pieces.
