View 1 RepliesI am trying to learn about color separation for silk screening.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use Photoshop to convert images to halftone bitmaps for silk screening, and have come across a new problem. I have separated my three gray scale layers, and converted the first layer (a scanned B+W image) as I normally do, without any problems.
That is: Image>Mode>Bitmap / Halftone, 600 dpi / 47 lpi, 45 degree angle.
I then try to do the same thing with the other two layers (objects drawn with the pen tool in Photoshop in black with no background). But the halftone doesn't work. When I try, the watch appears while Photoshop works, then there are the bodies on a white background. The black drawings continue to be solid as before only with somewhat pixelated edges. I have scoured the internet and haven't been able to find a relevant thread.
who uses Stochastic screening (FM) in place of standard screening (AM rosette) when printing offset. I understand the advantages of the FM screening, due to scattered dot pattern, but what I want to know is does it prevent ink offset when printing large dark colors.

I'm working in index, usually less than 11 colours, and need to clean up stray pixels and such for screenprinting.
I have several icons that I would like to recolor. My thought was to figure out how to normalize and image colors (based around your 9 basic colors, black, white, red, green, orange, blue, yellow, purple, brown). Then I want to separate those colors into their own layer. I would prefer to doe this in an action as well.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been playing around with the gradient map tool, and love the randomize and noise option to give me nice looking gradients for my images.... my question is, is there a way to "extract" or "split" the colors of the randomized map into its separate colors as if I was creating them manually with the "solid" option?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am working on tiny comic-strip frames that are being drawn as seperate images and when it comes to colouring, there is a time-consuming snag where I forget the exact colours of the finished frames which I need to keep checking and seeing earlier single images in order to compare and then reproduce the colours accurately in a consistent sequence.
Believe it or not, I get around this problem by taking digital still camera shots direct off the screen and consulting them afterwards! This does work, but it's hardly practical------is there an easier way to repeat the exact same colors on a separate image, without having to constantly refer to pre-existing images within GIMP? If I can reproduce the exact colours on different images automatically without having to recheck earlier images, this would save me a lot of time!
[Ideally, does every shade of colour have a code number or similar method I can enter and it will come up again accurately? This way, I could write down the shade number and repeat it exactly later on a new image where the exact same colour is required.]
The sheer number of shades of colour and tones make it very difficult to remember the exact colours accurately.
I'm trying to create a smooth red silk/satin (are they the same? ) effect so that I can place a picture on top of it, so it will have a border effectamajig.
I have came up with this sample so far by using Clouds, plastic wrap, radial blur and liquify. It's close but not quite what I want.
I'm looking for more of a smooth flow. so I can put some text on it as well.
The red isn't quite dark enough either.. that much I can fix. I think
how to calm this wrinkled version down? I tried to smudge it, but lost the shine.
I need to silkscreen an image, but can only do one solid color at a time. I'll have a black t-shirt, so that's one color, then red, green, pink and silver to screen onto the shirt. I can only do a max of 4 colors on one background.
here's the image: [URL].......the link is missing the http : // because I'm a new member and can't post links yet :/
How to break this down into 5 cells of color in Photoshop (CS4)? Then I can silkscreen it.
I'm trying to get a look where the outlines are defined, so that it sort of looks like a silk painting.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to have more than one text placement inside of a single layer, but be able to maintain and move each of those separately from the others? From what I have seen, each new Text item gets its own new layer. If I want to document an image with seven points of reference, it's absolutely crazy that I have to maintain seven layers, each with an integer 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7. What would be much more maintainable is to create ONE layer and name it "MAP-NUMBERS" and then have seven integers placed into that one layer. I would then want to be able to move - say - "2" around separately from "4". Then making all of the numbers appear or disappear becomes as easy as hiding or showing one layer.
Is there a way to do this with any version of Photoshop?
I would like to move elements of that painting onto a separate layer. What is the best way to do this? An example of this would be a painting with the moon in a night sky. I might want to move that moon object into a separate layer.
My reason for wanting to do this is I want to change the background of the painting without worrying about doing fine details around the objects I am moving. A second benefit of moving the objects to a layer is that I can then easily move the location of those elements in the painting around, trying to reposition them.
can I get all of the elements I am moving onto a SINGLE layer AND still have the ability to move those elements around separately? If I want to move 10 elements in a painting to a separate layer, it is REALLY inconvenient to have to put those into 10 separate layers and constantly maintain naming of these different layers.
Sometimes I have no problem doing a Print Screen then pasting it into photoshop, but MOST of the time... I do. I do a print screen and it does nothing at all when I trying to do a paste into photoshop.
It has no problem pasting the print screen into like... paint.
Currently working on a PowerPoint styled animation.I've parented the source text of 5 text layers to 1 text layer so I can easily alter the text. It is essential that I have 5 identically texted layers.
My requirement isn't much: To assign colors to individual words without having to separate those words into different layers.
If it is possible to use a sketch to write text on sheet metal? On regular solids the emboss feature is sufficient, but I can't seem to find info on how to write on sheet metal.

Basically I have one file of line work I am referencing into my sheet file. This line work consists of around 40 streets for a construction project. I need to be able to show where each street is according to surrounding city blocks. The idea is to have the street being worked on as being bold and surrounding streets screened out. Is there any way to do this aside from making each street its own file?
I want to bring a base drawing (drawing A) into another drawing (drawing B), but have it screened (say, at 35%) so that the information overlaid onto it in drawing B (unscreened) is brighter, and darker, so that it pops out, and that drawing A appears as just a background. I want the lineweights of drawing A (assigned in the CTB file) to remain thick and thin, but just to plot with a screened value. How can that happen? So far, I have just assigned xrefed-in layers a thin lineweight, which might work, but would prefer that the xrefed-in layers retain their thickness but appear shaded. I feel like I did this years ago, but how to accomplish this.

View 8 Replies View RelatedNew user of Photoshop Elements Organizer 11. I have been labelling hundreds of people using the facial recognition feature in the organizer. On reviewing them I find occasionally 2 stacks with the same person, likely caused by spelling errors. Even if I change the name to match the correctly spelled people stack, the 2 stacks remain separate. How do I combine them into a single people stack?
