Photoshop Elements :: How To Set Destination Drive For Full Backup
Nov 26, 2012Just got PSE11 and am trying to do a full backup. Follow all instructions but after selecting "full backup" it goes into "Calculating Total Media Size" and hangs up at 5%. According to all the instructions I should be getting a screen to "select destination drive". Doesn't look like its doing anything after the 5% indication.

Oct 21, 2012After installing PSE 11, it asks to do a Full Catalog Backup. After selecting and starting the backup it goes to 92% complete and then hangs and the application crashes. Tried several times, same result.
I have installed it in my desktop running WIN 8 Release Preview Eval copy (Build8400) 64 bit.
Photoshop Elements :: 11 Freezes When Calculating Total Media Size During A Full Backup
Nov 11, 2012Like many other users on these boards, I am unable to complete a full backup of a particular catalog on my machine using PSE 11 (or PSE 10 for that matter). I have four catalogs on this machine and three of the four complete the full backup process without any problems. That last, non-cooperating, catalog is much larger (7,389 photographs) than the others, but I do not think that this would pose a problem.
I have removed all videos, audios, projects, PDFs, and audio captions (in other words, all media types other than photographs) from the catalog. The only files remaining are photographs (that is, JPG files). I attempt to complete a full backup and, when calculating the total media size, the PSE 11 application freezes at five to six percent. I have attempted this in PSE 10 as well, but with the same results.
The only other item of note is this, when I search for the various media types, I see the message "no media to be displayed" in the middle of the organizer window. However, when I search for video, I do not see the message--the organizer window is blank (no text message as seen for the other media types).
Lastly, I have reconnected all missing files. (None.) Optimized the catalog. Fixed errors in the catalog anyway. (None.)
how I can complete a full backup of this catalog? A large cash reward awaits.

May 26, 2013When i back-up the catalogue, i assumed the backup would be mede of al the tags added to photo's. When i check the catalogue-files, i see a whole lot of jpg-files. My actual photo-collection contains jpg-, raw an avi-files.
I have a habit of making a copy of all my photofiles, but now it seems double
Question: Does de backup-function of photoshop elements 11 actually make a backup of tags and photo's?

Feb 20, 2013I can't figure out how to adjust the size of the program screen when in Full Edit Mode. I can see portions of the Quick Fix menu and none of the Guided Fix menu. There seems to be no way to resize the window.

1. Pressing shift, contron and option right after launching the program. The window came up to delete prefernces I clicked yes. Restarted my computer relaunched the program, still quitting every time I try to save anything.
2. I went into Program FilesAdobePhotoshop Elements 9Locales<locale>Plug-InsImport-Exportand you will find twain plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere else.
I did this 3 times, the first 2 times I dragged the twain plug in to my desktop, but I guess it was just making a copy. I can see the two plug in's on my desktop, but the plug ins remained in place. So the 3rd time, I clicked it and moved it to trash.
Again, I restarted my computer and relaunched PSE 9 but it still was crashing when I tried to save anything.
3. Just last night I ran the disk utility and repaired disk's. Again, restarted my computer and relaunched the program, and still it quits every time I save.

When I try to backup my catalog to DVD it appears like it is working then a box opens with "Elements Organizer" at the top. At the bottom it says, "Disk Creation by Sonic Solutions" and in the middle there it says "Writing Disc" with a progress bar under it. This displays for a while but the progress bar never goes above 0%.
After a while (like 5 minutes) a Windows Error message appears that says "Elements 12 Organizer has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"
There is no other error information displayed that indicates what the error is however I went to the Windows Event Viewer and found the following Event:

Photoshop Elements :: 10 - Backup Won't Work?
Jan 5, 2014I've used PSE 10 for some time, but only backup about twice a year (full backups to both external drive and dvds stored offsite). It won't let me backup to my K drive (external), doesn't even start before stating that it has encountered an error writing the file. The external drive works fine; just backed up using Windows BU. I've repaired, optimized, and reconnected files to no avail.

Sep 11, 2012Backup PSE 10 catalog on laptop and restore it to desktop.
PSE 10 backup of 60K photos failed to backup 4K photos, many .tif and some .jpg. Reconnected, repaired, repaired anyway & optomized all successfully prior to backup. Also did same after backup & restoration and all steps were successful except Reconnect was not. Refuses to reconnect missing files, so have manually found (by scrolling through the catalog) and connected 2.5K photos. Remaining unconnected photos can only be located one at a time by clicking on Reconnect, which results in a total count of the number missing and then PSE 10 tries to locate just one and when doesn't find it, the PSE 10 closes. Has taken weeks to reach this point by scrolling 60K photos so remaining, some of which are in stacks, by letting PSER 10 try to Reconnect each photo one at a time and close is a tremendous waste of one life!

Jan 7, 2013I am unable to back up my catalog to DVD.
Going through the process PSE11 tells me I will need 16 DVDs. After the first one or two (sometimes three) I receive an error message, asking to update the firmware of my DVD burner. I have the latest firmware installed, and do not have any issues burning multiple DVDs with other software (Nero; Version 12). I have tried Fuji as well as TDK media and tried burning @ 8x (My drive and the media are both rated @ 16x). I have also tried turning off Media analysis. As a last resort, I uninstalled and re-installed PSE11. All with no success.
I am able to back up this catalogue to an external hard drive as well as an internal hard drive, but want to back up to a more stable media (DVD).
Win 7 (64-bit) with all updates and all drivers are the latest versions.

Nov 5, 2012I am trying to restore my catalog into a brand new iMac with Mountain Lion and max memory.
I have created the backup several times, reconnecting all pictures and writing the tag info to the pictures.
After the restore. All the pictures are present and the category info on them seems correct ( properties and icons on the thumbnails ).
The catalog shows all the categories and sub-categories but selecting a category just gets the message that np pictures match the category.
If I try reconnect it says it's not required.
I've tried 4 times and I'm assuming it should work.
