bought Dell Laptop. It has the recommended minimum of everything adobe says it needs for photoshop CS3 (see below for 1721 specs)
When I installed it on the laptop - it was slow, but said it installed. But when I go to open up Photoshop, it opens the screen - and then just hangs. After about 5 minutes it says not responding and I close it. Any of the other programs that came with won't even get that far. I click on them and it gives the little "thinking" circle (as I call it.. lol) and then nothing.
I have read that CS3 has issues with Vista - but their site says the home premium should work. I've also read about 64 bit issues.. but the OS is 32 bit - so it's capable of running 32bit systems... I guess.
I called adobe yesterday after installing and reinstalling CS3 15+ times... with the same issue. I was on the phone for about 2 hours with them. Basically - they have NO CLUE what it would be since it installs fine and opens with no error messages. I checked the log files and there is nothing in there I see that says any kind of error.
I have disable windows defender, uninstalled McAfee and google desktop (all are known to cause issues with CS3), I have ALL non MS startup services turned off.. I have turned off the MS users control.. all suggested by the adobe tech.
I have installed using the run as administrator. Nothing. Created a new admin account and installed on that user and opened on reg admin account. Nothing. (again typical things that correct cs3 install issues)
The last thing the guy said was that it might be a video issue. I checked and there aren't any issues mentioned and no driver updates listed.
We tryed installing this on my b/f's laptop. He bought the exact one I have (except his is red.. mine blue.. lol) and it does the EXACT same thing...
So today we called dell. they say it's a software issue and won't answer any questions for free. Apparently only hardware support is free... But they won't accept this is a hardware conflict with the software..

I have installed CS4 on Vista 64 and completed without any errors. I was able to bring up Bridge and go through it without any issues. However, when I try to run either CS4 or CS4 64 bit, it starts to load and says it has quit working, windows tries to find a fix and does not and shuts the program down.
I have done a fresh install of Windows XP Pro SP2 and decided to install a brand-new copy of CS3 at the same time.
This computer is totally fresh - there are no printers, no TWAIN drivers, no funny fonts or games installed. The only software on this machine is Windows and whatever updates Windows Update has pushed out.
The Photoshop installer runs fine - no crashes or error messages. However, when I try to start up Photoshop, I just get the outer frame of the app window and (usually) the File / Edit / Image / Layer... menu bar. There is no splash screen, and no palettes appear. If I click anywhere in the app window, the menu bar disappears and the title bar says "Not responding".
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling from both the DVD and the web download. I've tried selecting the "repair" option on the install screen. I've tried downloading and installing the 10.0.1 update.
I tried installing Lightroom and Reader to see if those work (they do).
I tried installing the latest video driver for my gfx card.
None of these change the behaviour I've been seeing at all. I opened a support case with Adobe about 4 days ago but haven't gotten a response yet.
Any thoughts? I was able to run PS CS1 on this computer just fine before I formatted the hard drive and reinstalled everything, so I don't think it's a hardware issue.
I just bought Photoshop CS3 Extended, and want to install it on all of my computers. Would anybody happen to know if there is a limit on how many times it can be installed?
The only reason I ask, is because I've run into that problem with programs like Norton Systemworks. You only get so many installs, then you have to go out and buy the software again.
I have been able to successfully INSTALL Adobe Photoshop CS3: Extended multiple times, however I have yet to actually successfully RUN the application. After installation, when I try to open the program, a window appears with "Adobe Photoshop CS3" at the top and it is simply a large grey box with nothing inside of it. My mouse cursor turns into an hourglass and that's it... I left it there for an hour and a half once just to see what it would do and it simply continued in an endless loop of nothingness.
I have a custom-built computer with an AMD Phenom X4 9850 Black Edition, 2x2GB of OCZ 1066mhz Reaper DDR2, a Gigabyte motherboard with the GX790 chipset (SB750 southbridge), and a 2x1 Terabyte RAID 1 array.
It's running in a brand spanking new Windows XP Professional installation with Service Pack 3.
I have tried the following:
1) Uninstalling and reinstalling (same result)
2) Uninstalling all Adobe programs, Running Adobe Clean Script at level 4, running Windows Install Cleanup to remove any remaining Adobe remnants, and reinstalled. (same result)
3) Doing everything in step 2 again, then copying the CD to my hard drive, and installing from my hard drive. (same result)
4) Doing everything in step 2 again, then making a new administrative user account and reinstalling (same result...)
The adobe tech support guys I encountered came up with some pretty crazy (and flat stupid) explanations for my problems.
One guy claimed that my Serial was for CS1 and that somehow I'd gotten a CS1 disk that just happened to come in a CS3 box, with a CS3 disk label, which just happens to say "Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended" after you install it...
I've recently installed CS6 on a new Win 7 64 bit machine.  I'm beginning to install various plugins (Topaz, Nik, etc.).  I think this is the correct procedure, but let me know if it's wrong: I open Photoshop, go to Edit, Preferences, Plugins, then check the "additional plug-ins folder" and choose browse. I navigate to the main folder for the product I'm looking for. For example, Topaz... I'm using 3 plug-ins: Detail, Remask, Adjust. I highlight the folder, click OK, close PS, then reopen it. I open an image, then go to Filter, and find that all three plug-ins are there. I open each one, make sure that they are activated with my activation key, then close each application.  I then went back to Edit, Preferences, Plugins and browsed for the next plugin folder. In this specific case, it was Portraiture, by Imagenomic. I highlight the folder, click OK, close PS, re-open, and when I look for this plugin under Filter, I see it. But, now, one of the Topaz plug-ins are gone. It always seems to be the Topaz Adjust. If I navigate back to it, re-do the plug-in from PS, then the Imagenomic plug-in disappears next time I open PS.  In each case, I just highlight the main folder (Topaz, or Imagenomic), not the Topaz Adjust folder (though I did try this, and it made no difference).
I have a desktop and laptop that I've installed PS CS on. The desktop hard drive had to be reformatted. Someone on my hobby list said there were only 2 installs allowed for PS CS.
How do I uninstall all the things that Photoshop CS6 installs? I don't see a "custom" or "advanced" installer option, but it puts all kinds of things on my computer that I do not want (I only want Photoshop installed). The full installation is 2GB, which is quite a lot (I have a small SSD)
I am trying to install a (boxed) version of VideoStudio X5 Ultimate as a fresh install. However, although I select either United Kingdom or PAL/SECAM as the TV standard, it installs with the NTSC settings as default.
I have used the VSX5_cleaner to ensure everything is removed, rebooted and re-run the installer but it seems to install the same every time.
We have two laptops (identical configuration) and it works perfectly on the first one.
I am installing logged in as the local administrator.
I can't just use the current settings as it is trying to download video from a Sony HVR-HD1000E camera at 30fps that has been recorded at 25fps...
I have Photoshop 7 installed (or at least, it was installed) on my Dell laptop (which is running on Windows 2000 still). I've had it for nearly a year now and it has never had any problems before, but a couple of days ago when I tried to open the program, it just shut down.
There was no error message or anything; it just booted up, got to the point where it said it was initializing, and then disapeared. Since then I have tried re-installing it twice with no luck. Can anyone possibly help me out with this?
I just got photoshop recently on my new computer, on which I have never installed photoshop before. When I decided to use it for the first time, I started with the text tool, but found when I dragged the box area I wanted, I could not type inside it.
So I went troubleshooting, and no matter what I did the text stubbornly would not show itself. I have deleted and reinstalled fonts. Redownloaded photoshop. Reset preferences.
I have tried every way possible. The short cut, photos, and psd. files and nothing. So I thought, maybe I should uninstall it and reinstall it. Nope! And I even ran Ccleaner, disk clean up and a rgistry cleaner/fixer uper and restarted before reinstalling. It will start to load and then it just drops off with no error message. Not sure what else to try. I have 91% empty space on a 250MB hard drive and more than enough memory so I dont think this is an issue. I havnt made any changes or installed anything that may have caused an issue.
have just purchased photoshop cs4 and can not get it to install, the autoplay pops up with :file access denied which tells me that there is something on my pc blocking it ,I have antivirus ,firewall ,antispam all turned of but still no go,so then went to root directory and clicked on :setup exe' and the install initializes and starts checking system profile and it gets to 90% then stops then nothing,
I have CS4 and everything has been working great! I love it! The only problem is that for some reason now I can't COPY images out of my layers. I can paste anything but now when I select images from my layers, there is no option like COPY available in the EDIT tab. Some others seem to be missing to, such as FADE. My PC is definetly capable of running the program as it was for already a week perfectly.
i had to reinstall my OS. yet agian and now my CS3 upgrade wont install , it dosent give an error message it just says on the crappy little window that there were errors installing and errors in the shared components.
I have installed photoshop cs4 and when i start it, the terms of service comes up. I accept and it then goes and photoshop wont start up. I have had it installed on my pc before, I did a clean install but when i installed photoshop it just wouldn't get past the tos.
i don't know if this is the right place to post this but im having a problem installing the trial of photoshop cs4 extended. i have vista so when i click setup i right click and chose run as administrator. the window flashes then nothing happens but when i get to task manager it is running as a process.
i have a interface i want to use on my website, it has 4 rollovers on it, i created the rollovers/interface with ps 7/image ready, when i try to upload it to my website it only shows my slices and no images, i have tried it by typing the html code image ready made into the webpage but still same effect, slices with no images or rollovers.
upon the last step of moving the grid around, I got it to have a 3D look but the lines where horribly jagged. Very jagged. Yet the top photo shows a very nice anti-aliased grid.
I create new file, add 1st layer, pick colors on color pallette, and try to do difference clouds or halftone pattern and i get an error message saying that nothing is selected. I click on the layer in the layers pallette to be sure that the layer is selected, and it still won't work. Is there something special i need to do? i know in older versions, you could just use the filter...
when i tried to opened the PNG or GIF files that i save earlier, photoshop CS3 just wont open it. It keeps giving me a messages saying "Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file". I even reinstall the photoshop, but still receiving the same problem.
I'm running photoshop cs3 and recently every time I try and open a file nothing happens, well what happens is I see the open file box pop up and disappear and then I can not do anything in PS, every time I click something I hear a noise and thats it, I have to restart Photoshop.
The only way to open a file is if I drag and drop a file in PS.
I'm running windows XP service pack 2 if that helps at all, and yes I have reinstalled and the problem still persists.
Whenever i open up photoshop or illustrator itll work fine sometimes and sometimes it wont work at all. Illustrator sometimes gives me the msg "Could not request ..." and when I click on New image it doesnt display all the options. Itll leave out the OK and CANCEL buttons and several other options sometimes. And sometimes Ill be able to create a file but i cant save... And sometimes when all this is happening I cant open any new windows on my computer and cant do any tasks at all on my pc..
other times when i think it works perfectly some of the options for different tools wont work at all...
when i put all of the pictures into one box and gave one a mask like i normally do, i dragged a line and nothing happens at all! I'm not sure what's happened? It was working fine the other day and i havn't changed anything.
I've tried closing it several times and giving it a break but it still wont let me blend.
