When I click the resize option the box opens with no writing. This has only started in the last few days, was working perfectly a week ago. Windows 7 64 bit. All other funtions are working as far as I can tell
I just created a new account to make visible that I write the following description not as member of the Corel support team "Simone Corel UK", but as private user of PSPX4.
However, the reason for writing about this were indeed requests by users who were wondering about the Resize function and how it works.
I don't mean the "72" bug (you know that it looks like PSPX4 would open and save all images only with 72dpi), which has been addressed to the DevTeam and which will be solved.
Everything I'm writing now, is the private person Simone.
I discovered the Crop tool in PSP X2 about 2 years ago. I clicked by chance on the "Maintain aspect ratio" and realised that it fits perfectly my work flow. Sometimes, I only need a section of an image. I enter my final size, I tick "Maintain aspect ration" in Property tool bar, then I expand the Crop tool to that area I want to cut and double-click. When I resize now my image, it has exactly the final size that I need.
After I resize an image with Paintshop X4 the image on the work area is so tiny, like 1" X 1" I'm talking a 2000 X 2000 pixel image. How do I prevent this?
i have x3 (and x4) and have been using the 'pastel' art media effect to create some artwork .. however when i have gone back to do another one there is now only the options:
Black Pencil Brush Strokes Charcoal Coloured Chalk Colored Pencil Pencil
why the other art media effects all disappeared (pastel, palette knife etc) and how i can get them back?
In PSP X2, the menu options went suddenly missing.
I can see the Menu Bar (File, View, Effects, etc.). However, when I click on, say, File, I can see the drop-down options, but none of the options expand into their sub-menus. All I see is a grey box where the options should be.
I just now was able to reinstall PSP X2 after many months of problems due to the usual "illegally modified" message. It's very frustrating to say the least.
I have a bunch of WMF files I'm trying to open at a large size and then concert to PNG with a recorded script batch but I'm not quite sure how to get a script to do the entire sequence. When I open each graphic it brings up the Meta Picture Import screen. I need them to be re-sized to about 2000 pixels wide. (They can all be this size for ease of import.) I then need them all saved as PNGs.
I can record a script to to save them but I'm unsure how to get it to open and re-size first them THEN do the save so I can run it as a batch on the folder. Can I script the entire process?
Every time I resize an image, the image in the workspace shows at a certain percent and I have to scroll to zoom in to view it at the normal size. The percent varies from image to image.
I am using PaintShop Pro Photo X3 build 13.2.1.20 with an HP Deskjet 6940 printer running on a 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium system. If I follow the following workflow an apparent problem is revealed:
1. Open image file and go to File | Print... 2. Under Size/Position choose Fit to Page and note the image size details 3. Click on Properties 4. Go to the Paper/Quality tab 5. Change the paper size to A5, for example 6. Click OK 7. Note the image size details - they have not changed from those noted in 2 8. Click on Properties 9. Click on OK 10. The image has now been resized 11. Click on Properties 12. Choose a different paper size 13. Click OK 14. The image has not been resized from the dimensions in 10 15. Click on Properties 16. Click on OK 17. The image has been resized
When I resize an image and save it as a jpg when I reopen the file and go to image info it did not resize it at all. This is a 2 second job and now 1 hour later, I cannot work out why in the world PSP X6 cannot perform a simple task.
The Tool Options Palette which normally resides in one of the bars along the top of the screen in the Edit Mode becomes detached. Basically undocked and positions itself somewhere else.I can drag and move it around but I cannot reattach it. It appears like a separate tool bar or palette in that it has its own status or title line across the top with the X to close at the right edge.
It responds normally as to all of the tools on it which correspond to the specific tool selected. The palette floats on top of the screen so finding a place to put it where it will not intrude on the image or other pallets or tool bars is a challenge. When the palette becomes detached like this, the line where it had resided above the work area no longer exists.
I don't recall conducting any particular task or operation which caused this to happen. I just noticed that it was no longer in its place and was now floating in a spot on the right side of the screen.
I cannot seem to find the clone tool options in the EDIT TAB. I have used PSP from version 7 through version X2. Normally when you click on the clone tool a series of options appear in the upper left hand corner near the pull down menus. One of the options is the ability to adjsut the size of the clone tool. These tool adjustment options are missing in version X4. Interestingly, the tool options are available in the Adjust tab.
in PSP X3 I got several options when I selected the crop function. I saw and could change the count of pixels in X and Y direction and so on. All this options have gone in PSP X4. Or is there a setting I have to change?
It seems I can either save work at a lower quality jpeg, or export to get higher quality and lose the EXIF. I never want to use the lower quality, never, but I cannot seem to find anything in the Preferences to avoid having to manually set the quality. Is there a way to save at a higher quality than currently provided by PSP X4 by default?
I've been a long time PaintShop Pro user, but rarely use plugins. I believe I've used some Photoshop plugins on an earlier version, but I can't get onOne's Perfect Resize to work. Here's the instructions for their PS plugin:
[URL]
What's the analogy to those instructions in PSP? "Batch Process" seems the most likely candidate for "Automate", but there's no Perfect Resize options there.
I understand that X6 will load 8LI plugins, is that correct? How about Panels? I've both pointed PSP to the Perfect Resize directory, as well as copied the plugins into PSP's default plugin directory. No joy in either case. Both programs are x86 & x64 and neither makes a difference.
Are there any logs that may indicate whether the plugin is being loaded, or errors if it's not?
I'm using PSP X4, have an image open in edit but I'm not able to add any layer(s). None of the layer type options will remain highlighted for me to choose when I go to new mask layer or new adjustment layer.
When in Edit mode and I click Straighten tool or Clone, say, the there is no windows dialogue box to say select horizontal or vertical correction or even the tick to apply. Where has it disappeared to? How do I restore it?
When I click on the makeup tools in version X6 – 64-bit it brings up 5 separate tools. I can find no options for the suntan or thinner tool although its states clearly in the user manual and other functions that there should be size and strength options. I have checked this forum and there are some posts that say there is no strength option for the suntan tool, however this is not what the user manual states. Is the user manual and the help function incorrect and if not, how do I bring up these options?
I'm getting some erratic results with PSPX4. I download my CR2 canon files to lightroom, process, export as Tiif or jpeg, then open in PSPX4. I then edit the pic resize to 800x600 jpeg, quality 3. The file is usually about 300-400 kb, a jpeg. I have a couple of files that are corrupted on resizing and are only 12.0 kb in size. I can't upload to my website, - the error message says they are corrupted. I'm not getting it with every file, but two in the last batch of ten files processed had this effect.
I tried restarting the program, same effect on those two files. I tried reprocessing in lightroom again , exporting as jpeg and tiff, same result. I can save the files out of PSPX4 as png format, no problem, no corruption. My workflow is the same across a large number of files, - hundreds of em, normally no problem. Just can't figure out what would cause this erratic problem.
I can open and save the problem files in gimp, which makes me think the problem is specific to PSPX4, but why does it not affect every file, only 20%??? Tried re installing PSPX4, no difference.Below is one of the problem jpegs file straight from Lightroom, before I load it into PSPX4.
Working with layers in Paintshop Pro X6 instruction # eight says: To resize (the layer that I just placed on my background image) click on one of the corner nodes and drag outward. But no corners or nodes are showing for me to drag the layer to where I want to position it. It seems like a step is missing from the instructions.
So as it stands, I can get my layer onto the background image but I can't resize or reposition it at all.
I am trying to create a script (that I can run on a batch of images) that will resize the images to a set width but will maintain the proper aspect ratio of the images. There are many images and they are all different dimensions.
I want to resize them for webpages to a standard width (300) and have the height be automatically adjusted to the new width (proper aspect ratio).
When I try to create the script, it automatically uses the aspect ratio height of the image that was used to create the script.
When it runs on additional images it automatically sets their height to the height of the first image (used to create the script). As all of the images have different dimensions, the end result is wrong.
Is there a way to write the script so that it will maintain the proper aspect ratio of multiple images, all with different dimensions?
I have just been trying to resize some images on the latest version - 3.510.4297.28964 - and I have typed the measurements that I wanted into the print size fields on the resize dialogue. The actual sizes the program resizes the images to differ though - some look to be about right, whereas some come out much larger, but they all show the dimensions that I inserted in the canvas size box. I'm sure I've done this before and this hasn't happened?
Just came upon an error I had not seen before. Though PSP no longer supports Animation Shop, up until PSP X4, the user has been able to export frames back to PSP from Animation Shop. Now, this no longer works! There's still some communication there, because an error message - which, incidentally, makes absolutely no sense at all - is generated in PSP X4:
I installed PSP X4 today on a new PC with Windows 7 and noticed that it has no Animation Shop. Can I install Animation Shop to this machine? Will it work without PSP 9 or does it need certain dlls from PSP 9 ? I really want to be able to use Animation Shop again.
I don't know if I'll be able to see them in 4.0, but I would like to see more options for text like choosing the different weights of a font or adjusting kerning. I'm not a pro at typography, but it would be nice. I'd also like to see more point to use with the line tool or being able to add points. Its not really that important, but it would be convenient.
I have found the printing options in PDN to be..In all probability, PDN will print just the way I want it to, and I'm just not smart enough to figure out how to do it.
Right now, all I want is to be able to print at something less than full-page. For example, I create a simple drawing, size it in PDN to, say, 2 inches by 2.5 inches. It will print out at 8 inches by 10 inches, with no other choices, at least not that I was smart enough to find.
This is probably the rankest heresy to say this on the Paint.Net forum, but I find the Microsoft Paint print options to be far more useful, with the ability to scale the drawing by percentage, fit to a single page or fit to multiple pages, make my own choice about landscape vs portrait mode, etc. Unfortunately, MS Paint won't run on my computer anymore, probably a corrupted DLL file or something that will require a nuke and repave operation to fix. [This is one of the better things to happen to me, because without it I wouldn't have found and installed Paint.Net! ]
Rick Brewster has said in the "Popular Feature Requests" thread Better printing user interface -- Planned for a pre-4.0 update. Will this just be a change to the UI, or will there be added functionality? I installed the "PrinterPlus" plug-in, and while it mimics the MS Paint print interface to some degree, it does not add any of the MS Paint print options.
What will the "Better printing user interface" actually do, and is there any projected time frame?
I have photos that are about 19 MB and wish to send them to a website that says the photos can be a maximum of 100 KB. I went to image and resize and decreased the PIXEL numbers ( the only way I figured out to move the size numbers down. When the top number showed 99 KB I saved it.
The problem is when I saved it to my flash drive and desktop and clicked on properties, the size was 18 KB, not 100 KB. And the image was a tiny one in the middle of my screen, not a full page like it was before. It is too small to use.
Why did the size say 99 KB in paint.net but 18 KB on my desktop and flashdrive? How do I re-size a photo to 100 KB and know that is what I am getting before I save?
