Sometimes when I am cloning a portion of a single layer, I want to make the copied pixels less opaque. How to I set the clone stamp to make the material I am copying more transparent.?
View 6 RepliesIf I select Layers\Import from File... to import a new image into my current project, then anchor the cloning brush (in the newly imported), then select a location from the existing image...I can successfully clone.
I'm trying to figure out how soften or reduce the opacity of just the brush. In other words, what I'm cloning comes out way to strong. In some other packages, I'm able to set the opacity of the brush to soften what I'm copying.
It does it every 4-6 times which is really really often since you brush about 10 times every 3 seconds or so when digital painting especially when shading, lighting, blending, etc with brushing.
Why does it do this? I cant recall when it started doing this but I think it was either when I updated from CS4 to CS6 or maybe it just randomly kicked in. I already updated my drivers and re-installed my tablet.
how to use the Cloning Tool? Most of the tools are easy to figure out, but I cannot figure this one out!

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been using Photoshop CS2 for several years to enhance my photographs, but just now have encountered something simple I cannot find out how to do. I have on the background layer a picture of a room interior with the exposure set mostly for the open window, but the rest of the room is very dark. On the only other layer, the upper one, I have the same shot exposed correctly for the room, which overexposes the window area. The upper and lower layers are perfectly superimposed, and the upper layer is at 100% opacity.
I have selected the window on the upper layer and want to change the selected area's opacity to blend properly with the window on the bottom layer without changing opacity of the rest of the layer. No matter what I do, changing opacity seems to affect only the entire layer, and I haven't figured out how to isolate the selected area for the opacity change.
I can cut the selection to reveal the darker window on the bottom layer, but this doesn't give me the flexibility I need to balance the two exposures. An opacity change would be ideal.
I would like to clone one object from one picture to another. When I have 2 pictures side by side and I want to clone one object to the other pictures the percentages are not the same with each other and the object is out og proportion. How do I get both pictures with the same percentages? As an example maybe there's a fire hydrant and I would like to clone it to the other picture and have it look as a 1 to 1 ratio.
View 2 Replies View RelatedFor many years, I used the Photo House program on Corel Print House Magic v.4 as my photo editor/image generator of choice. Considering it was a freebie with a printer, I found it to be a remarkably versatile program which really opened up my creativity. I'd tried Adobe Photo Shop, which I didn't find at all user-friendly, plus a few other programs - but I kept coming back to Photo House.
Anyway... it worked fine on every Windows version from 98 onwards. But it won't work on Windows 7. It'll load... but it crashes as soon as I try to do anything. Someone suggested changing the compatibility mode - but I'm running Home Premiun, which doesn't have that option. Currently I'm using Gimp, which is okay - kind of Photo Shop Lite - but it still won't do certain things that I used to do all the time on Photo House. So I'm now thinking of going for Paint Shop Pro as v. 4's now come out (I was told to avoid v. 3 because of some glitches).
What I'd like to know is whether the program incorporates those features I used lots on Photo House and haven't found since. They are:
1) The ability to open two photographs side by side and clone an image from one of them directly onto the other one. I used to do things like have a landscape and clone a figure onto it from the other photograph, which gave a much better effect than doing cut and paste. I'm presuming this sort of thing can be done using layers (never used them before) - but doing it the way I used to do it was very easy, and working with layers looks a lot more difficult.
2) The brushes and spray gun on Photo House had a huge choice of heads/shapes to choose from, with variable degrees of opacity. One such head was a star shape, which if used with the spray gun would give a stunning effect of a spray of stars of varying size and colour. I used that a lot in some children's illustrations I do. Gimp doesn't have that feature, and nothing else I've looked at seems to have, either.
I am trying to remove some wires in front of a complex background. (I tried a different spot for the photo, but didn't really work....so I was stuck with the wires.) Anyway, apart from just zooming way in and using the clone tool, do I have any options with smart cloning or healing? I searched the PSPX5 file for smart and heal etc., but didn't find anything.

In the documents, I found that it's represented by a text frame object, but it doesn't have opacity property. Text range and character attributes don't have it either, so I'm wondering: is there any way of accessing/altering the opacity of a text object using Javascript?
View 5 Replies View Relatedsometimes when trying to manually input the percent number for either layer opacity or image zoom, when I try to type a number I just get a DING sound and it wont allow me to do anything. It goes away after I click a bunch of random things, minimize photoshop and then open it up again. Why does it do this? All I do is click on the percent number, try to input a new number but it sometimes just doesn't allow me to do so. I check all around the document to see if there is anything going on that may interfere but I notice nothing. What is it trying to tell me when it just dings and refuses to change the numbers?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI always used the number keys to set opacity in brush tool. Suddenly it now affects flow, not opacity. At the same time this functionality changed I started having to click on a mask for the [ ] keys to change brush size. I used to be able to change size without selecting the mask. Did I inadvertently change some setting? I am using CS5 12.0 x 64 on Mac in 10.6.8.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have animated text where some words are black at 50% opacity and some words are white at full opacity. They are on a textured background. I need to give the other editors a version of the text married to the background and one that is just text with an alpha. When I export it and bring it into Premiere, the "married" version looks fine, but the black in the version of the text with alpha appears more transparent. I can fix this by changing the blend mode to Hard Light or Luminosity, but this alters the color of the white text slightly (and I should note that the blend mode in AE was normal). I can of course work around this by exporting my black and white text separately.

i can't find a way to change opacity by taping numbers on my Macbook Pro Retina (French version AZERTY).I think the problem comes from the fact that i don't have a numeric keypad.For instance, on the brush tool, if i enter 1 (by pressing shift+&), i change the flow to 10% and so on, but i didn't find a shortcut to change the opacity.On the move tool, if i enter 1 (by pressing shift+&), the opacity of the active layer don't change.

Having some trouble with the oppacity on my projects. As you can see from the screenshot, I've clearly clicked something because any text or images that I try to add to my project and set the oppacity at 0% - to then build over a few seconds to 100%, will not do this.Yet previous elements that I've added will.
Is there something I need to click to stop the new text and images from changing oppacity immediately. I want them to build over time - I can see that the added keyframe looks different also.

So, as it says; I'm unable to preserve the apperance of my image as the Layers get Merged.
I have an Object which I intend to slap onto a background, I want the Object to be Faded from one side to the other with 1/4 Solid to the Left and the remaing 3/4 fading out to about 120-140 Opacity in the furthest Right Part.
I've failed to achive this when I use the Rectangle Selction to; select, copy, delete, make new layer, paste.
Repeating that process across the the 3/4 and then changing the Opacity Value of each layer in order to create a Fade effect.
Now here's the issue, when I try to merge the Layers the individual "Strips" change their Opacity Value as the Merge with the other Layers.
I want to Preserve the Appperance the Image have before the Layers are Merged.
I've tired switching Blend Modes but wihtout Success.
I've also tried to without seperating the Image into "Strips" in Layers, using the Gradient to cause a Fade, however it ends up fading all of the Image to some degree (and not just the 3/4), additionally I can't control the exact Opacity Value of the Fade.
A problem has developed in my photoshop CS 6 64 bit on windows 7. I can't paint at full opacity in a layer mask. It is like an 75 % opacity brush. I have gone back to the default brushes soit is not the particular bursh. My brush settings are all at 100%, mask density is 100% , the blend mode is normal,-can't think of where else to look for the solution.The brush works just fine when I am not in a layer mask.I updated the graphic card driver and also the wacom intuos driver. It has to be somewhere in photoshop CS6 as when I go into my older version photoshop, cs5, the mask opacity works works at 100 % opacity.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI just downloaded the trial version of paintshop pro x4. It worked for a while but the opacity sliders were extremely slow to respond. I thought this was my main problem but now every time I open the program it takes me to the register screen. When I register the screen goes white and nothing happens. If I close it the whole program closes. I have three emails confirm me for registering so I don't know why the screen pops up anymore... I was very happy to have more 16bit capabilities.

In PSP X4 when I go to adjust the opacity of a raster layer using the opacity slider on the layer palette toolbar. I click on it and I can't use the arrow keys to adjust the value. My arrow keys have no effect on the opacity slider at all. how I can get it working? It has never worked for me in PSP X4.

The problem is, even if you use the opacity of the layer as a keyframe, the object will not instanlty vanish, even if it is only on for the timeruler for a quick amount of time.
I need a tool that will drop from 100% opacity to 0% instantly.
If one is usuing a Paint Bucket fill such as horizontal lines, can one alter the fill to make the horizontal lines farther apart?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am transferring over from Corel and using Photoshop CS4. Sorry to post such a simple question but I'm not quite getting it...and I know it has to be VERY simple. I am having trouble using the cloning tool in Photoshop.
In Corel I simply right clicked on the area I wanted to clone, put my "brush" over the area I wanted to re-do with the clone and it was done. For some reason I am not picking up the process in Photoshop. Any simple tips to get me going?
I wonder if anybody else has experienced this? Whenever I use the Clone tool, the place where I clicked to clone shows blurs around the edge, a softening.
