when I export JPEG, some metadata is not present : For example, I have Watouuu, France, but it lacks Paris. In the xmp file, the metadata is ok
I have saved the metadata with CTRL + S and I selected ALL in the list "Metadata" module export.
If I shoot RAW + JPEG, and I add EXIF data to the JPEG files outside of Lightroom, when I import the RAW + JPEG pairs will the metadata I added to the JPEG files still be there?
I'd try it myself, but I don't actually have the equipment to do this right now.
I am transitioning to using RAW files more often. I add metadata, including GPS info, captions etc. Then invariably I need to get JPEGs to someone and have to go through the hassle of exporting the RAW as a JPEG with the metadata.
Is there a way I can get that metadata into the sorta sidecar JPEG file on my Mac without having to go through the export process?
I suppose I could designate the preference that on import the RAW and JPEG were treated as separate files; could I then just copy the metadata in? I haven't really worked with separate JPEG+RAW before. Would it happen automatically if I stacked them? Haven't really explored that.
It just seems that every time I have decided to use the RAW invariably I need the JPEG and if I don't have LR available (say I'm working on someone else's computer but accessing my own files)
I'm using an Eye-fi Pro X2 card in my D5100. At present Eye-Fi haven't been able to resolve the fact that geodata isn't added to the Raw (nef) file so I am shooting in Raw+jpeg. Is there a way to sync the metadata from the jpeg to the nef file within LR4? Will this be written to the raw file, to a sidecar file or the LR database?

View 4 Replies View RelatedLR 4.1 latest ver.I post process a CR2 file in Lightroom. I then add text to the Title field.Export as jpg using a pre-defined export preset.
I then notice that I have a typo in the Title field.
Correct the typo / text in the CR2 parent file using Lightroom.
Re-export again (same export preset)... answering yes to overwrite file (and Yes to all metadata).
Surprise ...surprise... the Title data is not updated in the exported file (ie by viewing the metadata in the g or e view.
I delete the jpg
Export again ...yes... same preset export settings.
Metadata on jpg is correct.
So, it looks to me that Lightroom is not updating the metadata when exporting and overwriting an existing image.
Is this normal or a bug.

I'm a photographer but not all that computer savy. In fact unless I'm wrong just discovered that running images through "Save for web" in PS6 removes metadata as well so images load faster. That's what I want to do but it seems time consuming.
So my question is in the export function of LR4 is removing the metadata there doing the same thing because if so it would be tons faster.
Would it be possible to automatically set the name of the folder in the "put in subfolder" export option, based on that image metadata (or on a preset, as it is, for example, for filenames)? Maybe a plugin? - image in "summer 2013" gets exported in "summer 2013 jpg" subfolder, where "summer 2013" is taken from the "folder" metadata and "jpg" either from the filetype or manually added.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am exporting approximately 25,000 images from Aperture 2.1.4 and importing them into Lightroom 4. I started working with my small projects of about 300 images to test. From Aperture, I exported the Master files with the Sidecar (IPTC4.XMP) files. [My masters are a mix of .jpgs and .NEF, and I read that the jpgs don't always carry the meta data through]. I successfully imported the master files into Lightroom and ran the "Read Metadata from File" command. I also exported the keywords file from Aperture and imported those into Lightroom as well.
Prior to exporting, I edited one file in Aperture by entering "test caption", "test location", "test keyword", "test copyright" etc. into several of the IPTC fields. These fields are NOT appearing in the equivalent Lightroom fields. I checked the .XMP file (using text edit) and it does contain the correct "test values". I am getting all of the EXIF metadata, but none of my custom values.
Is there a way to export images with borders (like the slideshow layout) and metadata caption (iptc/exif). I'm using a plug-in Mogrify now, but this way I have to export every photo twice (first to create borders, then to add the metadata). photo below is exported with the Mogrify plug-in.
It would be awsome to export photos like the gallery layout since most lightboxes have only 1 line of caption and no design/edit options. This would save heaps of time.
I'm trying to export a jpeg for web, selected 300w by 165h [as instructed by No 12 Design] at 72 ppi but LR consistently changes this to 220 by 165 during export! I can't figure out what's going on
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Lightroom 5.2 64bit version on my windows. After I export my raw in to the jpeg it has noise. But in the develop module it hasn´t. Also it has got a little bit noise in the library, but it´s the same picture. Where is the sense?
Here are some pictures of that problem:
1. The finally edited raw picture which I want to export.
2. The view from the library, you can see a little bit difference on the quality compared to the view from the develop module.

After I edited my Raw images shot by Nikon D600, I'd like to export them to Jpeg format with my watermark. The watermark will not show if I exported the images in original size (6016 x 4016) as shot. However the watermark works fine if I resize the images to a smaller size, such as 1200 x 1024.

I am using the trial version right now as I am waiting for the software in the mail. Could this be why? I'd like to use the Book Module more for exporting JPEG spreads so I can then upload them to a publisher, like Kiss Wedding Books. I'd rather use LR than InDesign because I like being able to edit the photos right there.
The problem I'm running into is that LR is trimming off pixels on export. So, a 12x12 page at 250ppi is not 3000x3000, but 2968 x 3000.
When using LR 4.3 and 4.4 on Windows 8 Pro x64 and trying to export a jpeg file with the file size as the limit I get the error "Some export operations were not performed. The file could not be written <<NameOfRAWFile>>"
This is only occuring with exporting files where the File Settings is set to Limit File Size to: <<zzzz>>K.I use 5000 as the default due to the limits of the site I am uploading too.

some time ago (and I cannot connect it to some specific action from my side) I'm facing an unpleasant fenomena: when I'm processing a CR2 (Canon RAW) file and exporting the result to the hard disk as JPEG, the resulting JPEG file looks completely burned out ... but only if viewed in the Lightroom. If I view it for example, in a browser, or with the FastStone viewer, or whatever -- it looks perfectly normal.

View 2 Replies View RelatedOther than the obvious to export images before I edit them, or duplicating and removing all alterations after selecting and editing I don't see an easy way to do this in LightRoom. In Aperture I would select Export Original Photo, and then choose JPEG as format. It appears to me that the only Export Original Photo option in LightRoom will do just that...export a true original - meaning in RAW format. Not useful. I need to export JPEGs of my final selects, both in the edited form, and in the original unedited form as JPEGs.
On another similar note, is there any way to see the switch between the original unedited photo and the edited photo?Meaning true original, pre crop / rotation and all? Love the option to see just the other adjustments, but I often would like to see what my crop has done as well to the image quickly. Aperture had a true "Original Master" viewing capability.
Other than these two things, I am loving the transition to LightRoom!
