Lightroom :: Watermarks In Multiple Catalogs
Dec 13, 2012I'm using multiple catalogs (one for each client). Is there a way to transfer watermarks from one catalog to another or do I have to build them from scratch in each catalog?

View 1 RepliesI have a catalog for personal photos, and another for stuff I will print, etc. I just imported all my photos into my print catalog from a trip, and was wondering if some of the photos can be in both catalogs. I have a few pics of my wife and I, and since they are just virtual copies would like them in each one.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am splitting my LR4 catalog (which contains over 150,000 images) into yearly catalogs for performance reasons. The big issue is how will I ever find anything if I don't know what year an image was made? Is there a catalog of catalogs? Or some way to index everything?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have had a couple of catalogs that were accessible under "open recent" under the "file" tab. Suddenly those other than lightroom 3 catalog have disappeared. They arrived after passing 9,999 photos. Is there somewhere elser I should look?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have several Catalogs, and, of course, the keyword lists are different for each, as they're embedded in each separate Catalog.
I have different versions of the same images in multiple Catalogs (suits my workflow), and would like to sync keywords for these images across Catalogs.
I tried Export Keywords from Catalog 1 and then Import Keywords into Catalog 2, but that results in a lot of duplication of keywords, as the hierarchical structures differ. Obviously, this method is not syncing but simply adding all the keywords from Catalog 1 as if they didn't exist in Catalog 2.
I thought to delete the entire keyword list from Cat 2 but this will remove them from the images as well - leaving me to redo the whole thing; not what I'm after!
I wasn't aware of using keywords and can see how useful they can be.I have more than one catalog and am having a hard time accessing all my photos. I'm thinking of uninstalling Lightroom and starting from scratch using only one catalog.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI would like to import multiple catalogs simultaneously into one catalog.
The thing is that I lost my main catalog in a hard-drive failure and my last backup is too old. Fortunately I always "export a folder as catalog" into the original pictures folder, so I always keep starring, color editing, etc.
What I would like to do now is to import each of these litle catalogs into one new main one, without having to import each at a time, but all simultaneously, which would save me an enormous amount of time.
Is there a way to do this?
I prefer using multiple catalogs rather than 1 large one, as I prefer to organize via event/date. The issue I've encountered is, that every time I create a new catalog, I have to reenter my information on the flickr plugin, and assume that all the plugins work this way. So simply, is it possible to enter the login info the 1 time, and have it load for every catalog? The other option I can explore if there is no simple fix for this issue is to edit the existing flickr plugin, the biggest issue with this however is that the 1 in SDK 5.0 is now outdated/unuseable and the plugin installed is a single file and not multiple editable lua files.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Elements 11. In order to add watermarks to many JPG pics at once, I use the function "Process Multiple Files".
I select a source folder and a destination folder, and adds a three digit serial number to each file. I do NOT tick the checkbox marked "Change picture size". After that I define the watermark I want printed on my pics and hits OK. All the files in the source folder are processed and saved, with a new name in the destination folder. Fair and square.
But. The file size of the new file is heavily reduced, compared to the original. It goes from 10 MB down to 500 KB (in general). Why is that? Is there any way I can prevent it?
I recently starting using 4.2, first time using any Lightroom application, and I found how to set the watermarks but no way to actually apply them to my photos.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have bought a new PC. On my old PC I have PSE 10 with three catalogs. To move these catalogs (with several thousands of photos), I have followed the instructions in the help page: [URL] ......
So, I made backups of all three catalogs to an external disc. I then connected the external disc to the new PC and started to restore the first catalog. That went fine.
Then I restored the second catalog. That also went fine. But then I discovered that the first catalog had disappeared.... I expected that in the menu where you can switch catalog, both catalogs would be shown. But it only showed the last catalog that I restored.
To make sure, I tried to restore the first catalog again. Again that went fine. But now only this catalog is there, and the other one is disappeared again.
How do you migrate MULTIPLE catalogs from one PC to another PC?
I do not know whether it is relevant: The old PC is running Windows 7, the new PC is running Windows 8.1.
Since updating to v4.3 I am unable to attach watermarks

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a project where I need to export hundreds of custom images for use on a website. Each image needs to have a watermark on it. So I created the watermark in Illustrator, then placed it into a 900 pixel x 900 pixel file and saved for web as a PNG-24 with transparency.
When I export images form LR3 using the above graphic as a watermark the image quality is great, but the watermark has rough edges and is pixelated at any setting under 2500 pixels. I need to output down as small as 150, 225 and 250 pixels. I can do this in photoshop and the watermark looks great. Yet from LR the quality is noticably bad. See the attached file.
how to improve the quality of the watermark?
I have several overlapping catalogs in my elements 10. The largest is coordinated with the online backup (which is due to be terminated). It has over 400 missing images that cannot be reconnected via the online backup. Some of the wayward images may be in one of the other catalogs or a download to the external hard drive from the online backup (done last year).
1. How can I merge the several catalogs, and should I?
2. How do I search the the file in the external hard drive? I.e., how do I designate this file in the "browse" dialogue box for where to reconnect? I can navigate to it, but then what?
After getting straightened out about getting my catalogs in order, which I've done, I've run into another problem. I have three catalogs one for People, one for Things and one I call Workplace where I try out things that are new to me so I don't mess up my main catalogs.
I've straightened out the files in my Things catalog. I have one catagory that contains images of autograph book pages from the late 1800s. Those scans were done in JPEG some time ago. I've tried using multiple processing to change these 55 images to psd in the original file to be consistent with the rest of the catalog. Each time the process fails.
In order to see what the problem might be I have copied the catagory file into both of my other catalogs and have been able to process the catagory file back into itself as psd. I have also created another small file in the Things catalog and tried to convert it and had the same result. The warning info box that appears when copying back into the same file states that the original files will be overwritten. The psd files do not overwrite the jpg files. They are added to the original file. That may be the way it is intended to be. That's not a real problem.
The real question is why can't I process multiple files in the original catalog. I have looked at the error file and, although I don't know much about most of it, I found the following in the first part of the file.
crash exception="EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION"
I run XP SP3 and PSE 8. I am a single user with administrator rights. I find no mention of a permission filter in the PSE 8 program.
I currently am using Elements 9 with Windows 7. I will be getting a new computer with Windows 8.1. I have 5 catalogs. All are backed up on external hard drives. I plan to install Elements 9 on the new computer and then restore the catalogs. The catalogs are in chronological order. Should I restore them in any particular order, and if so, should I do the more recent catalog or the oldest one first?
I guess I should also ask if Elements 9 will be compatible with Windows 8.1.
When I was first using LR I was playing around with a watermark for my pictures, as well as a watermark. After I created the user preset and watermark, and also became more comfortable with the program and understanding what all settings meant, I wanted to edit them saving them under the same name, hoping to replace previous settings. However all I got was a notice that "The name is already in use." This then caused me to save the settings as a new preset and watermark. I was just wondering if there was a way to delete those original presets that I am not happy with?
View 8 Replies View RelatedExporting a new round of images to my rebuilt photo website this week, and very glad that LR can generate year-specific copyright tags, which are infinitely less cumbersome than my previous tactic of trying to pull copyright metadata from images at the site level.
So far, I'm preferring the watermark layout size consistency of Lightroom's default watermark system over results from the otherwise excellent and flexible LRMogrify2 plugin.
I'd like to either leverage a token to use copyright metadata within custom watermarks or find out how to reposition/restyle the default Simple Copyright Watermark, eg have the Simple Copyright Watermark show up in a font other than Myriad in a different position on my images...
Hope this isn't too obscure or poorly-articulated a first question in these forums.
(Running Lightroom 4.3 on Mac OS 10.75).
l has a tool allowing address of the default fonts for watermarks and other presentation variables in a sideways way through translation settings. It's a strong start, but other fonts are looking even more shoddily rendered by this method. Back to fidding with size and ratio options in LRMogrify2.
When I export pictures from LR for web the text sometimes come out as expected, but other times it comes out with hard jagged/pixelated edges. I have so far been unable to find a pattern to when this happens, but it has followed me since LR3 on a different PC.
Above shows an example. Proper watermark on top, pixelated on the bottom.
The watermark has been made using a TTF-font from LR. Current system is a fairly highspec PC, win8 and LR4.1 (64-bit).
The company I work for needs to manage and watermark many different types of photos (perfect for Lightroom.) The only problem is, when Im uploading photos to our website, the Lightroom watermarks dont show up in the thumbnail preview of Windows Explorer. When I right click the image thumbnail and select "preview" the full size image preview pops up with the watermark. I guess my question is, is there any way to get the Lightroom watermarks to show up when viewing files in Explorer in large thumbnail view?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI like using the Flickr uploader through Lightroom (I have 4) to keep my Flickr images up to date. I have taken to adding a copyright to my images, but have become involved in a project that requires a different copyright for select images. Is it possible to use the uploader service to add one copyright to some images while adding a different one to other images? Or do I have to export images and then manually upload them to Flickr? I would rather not do that, if possible, just because I wouldn't have the added benefit of being able to have image metadata and edits automatically update in Flickr as I do them in Lightroom.
