I want to know if the metadata for each FOLDER I add can be stored separate from all the metadata file, so I could delete just a folder for later recuperate it individually and have it´s metadata?
When importing something off of a DVD or CD how do I direct Lightroom to copy the imported images or folder to a specific folder on my hard drive? It seems to default to MyCatalog but leaves the location on the CD rather than copying it to the drive. If I remove the CD the images is reported as missing.
When I go to the top of the screen for importing I can change the source but the location info on the right is not active or changeable.I am new to lightroom and coming from Photoshop Elements background.
I am new to both iMac and Illustrator, and cannot find a way to save .ai files to a specific sub-folder.
The options available in the Save As dialog box are Devices, Favorites and Recent places. If the folder I want doesn't show in these categories I end up saving to the desktop and moving the file in Finder.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to save in a specific folder desitnations when using Actions and Saving For Web with CS6 PS for Windows. It ALWAYS defaults to last folder used. I am not Batch Processing, just using Actions on one image at a time. I have 3 of these actions.
Action one is for "Thumbnail" folder, Action two is for "Full" folder, and Action three is for "Large" folder. All these actions are doing is saving for web into these folders (path displays correctly in Action script). HOWEVER after I successfully use Action one and save into the Thumbnail folder and move on to Action 2, it wants to save back into Thumbnail AND NOT into Full folder. In short I now have 3 actions saving to the same folder even though my recording designated 3 different locations.
In Word and Excel it's possible under Preferences to point to a specific folder for both saving and opening files. Is this possible under Photoshop to do the same as it's taking me ages to find the correct file when wanting to open/alter/save multiple images.
80% of the time I want to save my workfiles to a specific folder (i am quite organized when it comes to Creative Suite files) and I wondered:
Is there anyway to tell PS to go to that specified folder when I want to save, and not try to save into the folder where I found the last source picture?
Is it possible to automatically divert Inventor to save to a specific folder within the workspace???
If a certain iProperty is set to yes, we want the user to save that file into a particular folder, if they try and save it elsewhere a message is popped up telling them an error has been made please try and save in the correct folder.
Admittedly I am not the most competant iLogic programmer but this is what I have thus far
The metadata folder in the library module is missing in the right panel. It was present when I first purchased Lightroom 3 but has since disappeared from view, but don't know exactly when.
I have the latest update in LR. I have had this problem on and off and thought maybe it was a bug and once I did the update things would work, but doesn't
So I want to export a folder from LR onto one of my external hard drives however when I click to export my only choice is Desktop. I can open that "tree" as far as it goes but it NEVER shows Computer so I can select which external hard drive to export files to as a backup.
When I go to explorer from the start menu I can see all my files in Explorer including Computer with my external drive just not in LR.
I have restarted my computer, I have tried two different hard drive thinking it just might not recognize one of the drives but that isn't it either.
I have had this problem in the past and haven't been able to figure why sometimes I see my Computer and other times all I see is Desktop as an export option.
Is there a way to have an image automatically go in to a smart collection when exporting to a specific folder? I have a folder on my desktop that I export every image I want to upload to flickr. I'd like very much for these to also be added to a smart collection.
I am trying to save the metadata tags I have created, but I am not given the option to do so. I tried CMD + S, but that does not work and when I go to Metadata -> Save Metadata to files is not an available option. I am using Lightroom 4.4 and working with .mov files.
I wonder when, and if, it is necessary to save metadata to the file? I copy RAW images from the camera card to DNG data type. I once accidentally deleted an edited image with unsaved metadata. I discovered the image I re-imported from my recycle bin was the original image without the updates I applied. I assume if I had saved the metadata for the image, the edits would have been brought back. Other than losing edits and other metadata when accidentally deleting an image, is there any other reasons I should save metadata to the file?
In a related question, is the original image without the metadata accessible in any other software except Lightroom if the metadata has been saved to the image file?
I've got a whole bunch of files in a catalogue that have had the metadata changed locally. I want to overwrite with the metadata thats in my LR cat. When I select them all and choose metadata>save metadata to files the little "!" dissapears from only file ata time. I matters not which module I'm in or if I go library > save metadata.
EDIT: I tried deleting the local XMP files and I get the same result
how the "save metadata to file" works. I had a corrupt catalog and thought I lost all my edits. I then read about this save feature and how it can protect me from a corrupt catalog by saving my edits. Does doing this overwrite my original file? Does saving the metadata destructively save the edits to the file? Is there a way to retrieve my original file after "saving metadata to the file" or do I need to save the orginals on a seperate harddrive?
I got the message, "Photos have read-only access," when trying to save the metadata into a DNG file. I'm on windows 7, and just upgraded to Lightroom 5. The files in Windows have full write and read ability. What am I doing wrong? Or what box do I need to check or uncheck to be able to save my metadata into the DNG files. My catalogue is on an internal drive. The actual images are on an external drive.
I've just had a problem with LR4. Instaled the full version a few days ago on my old computer. Just got a new computer where I instaled LR4 and imported all my latest work and noticed that all video (.mov) metadata were not saved on to files (Photos are OK!!!) So all editing and rating/flags/color filter I've done is gone.
Thought that I forgot to save Metadata on my old computer and did a couple of tests.
I did some rating and some color filters on my actual catalog then saved the metadata a couple of times. Removed from the Library and re-imported and the metadata were not there again. Did the same to Photos and is fine!
LR4 does not write XMP to video files?
Just lost hours of work on cuting and rating a video Job since my old computer is gone.
I have not recently been saving my metadata to file. I decide to turn this option on in preferances and it took a while for it all data to be written to the files. Most of my files start in Lightroom and get worked on with Photoshop layers, saved as TIFF, and reimported into Lightroom from other folders. My question is, if I went back to Lightroom and made some changes to develop settings to see what it would look like with different settings in Lightroom, didn't use the settings in the previously exported file but left them there in Lightroom since the file had already been exported and saved as TIFF..... can now saving the metadata to file change the way the finished file looks since the settings are different than those originally used to process the file (of note, I do not have save develop metadata to file for TIFF, PSD tyurned on).
Is there some way to save a standard set of metadata (photographer name, copyright status, website, other unchanging stuff) that I could apply to new/old sets of photos?
I imported many files that were tiff & jpeg pairs (with the import preference box checked 'Do Not treat as seprate files when file names are the same') into LR3. Since then, i have been unable to write new metadata, such as captions, keywords, etc., to both the JPG and Tif files. LR3, and now also LR5 both only seem to want to write to the tiff files. How do i get the metadata easily saved onto the jeg files as well? (preferably without re-importing as separate files).
Any way to batch rename a folder full of image files to reflect a specific column in an excel sheet? I have a client who I am shooting product photography for, but I need to rename these images to reflect the part number of each item. These are not in any sequential order.
What I want to know is if there is a way to make a hotkey or at all save specific options for specific tools. Let's say I'm using the 'Paintbrush, Opacity 70%, Hardness 075, Size 4.00' as my "standard outline tool". Can I some how save that preference (and any other tool such as "Specific Eraser Op. 100%, Hard. 100, Size 10.00) so that I can easily switch between "Ouline Brush" and "Specific Eraser" . Maybe to the 'f-buttons'
I'd like to be able to make maybe 5 specific tools:-Outline Brush
-Small Eraser -Big Eraser -Detailed Color brush -Big Color Brush.
I am trying to create a logic rule to replace the model reference in a idw file and then save as using the new file reference name. I am able to do this for individual files or components within an assembly file.
However what I would like is to check through all files of a certain type (for example ipt with filenames beginning "SSUA" ) in a specific folder.
The following code from Curtis Waguespack works well for individual selected files but I would like to take it a stage further with the above parameters.
Dim oDoc as DocumentoDoc = ThisDoc.DocumentDim oRefFile As FileDescriptorDim oOrigRefName As Object For Each oRefFile In oDoc.file.ReferencedFileDescriptors'get the full file path to the original internal referencesoOrigRefName = oRefFile.FullFileName'present a File Selection dialogDim oFileDlg As inventor.FileDialog = NothingInventorVb.Application.CreateFileDialog(oFileDlg)oFileDlg.InitialDirectory [Code]........
When opening a step file and trying to save it, it keeps trying to save it in the 'My Documents/inventor' folder. Even if i select save as and pick a specific folder elsewhere it only saves the top assembly in that location and all sub assemblies and parts are then saved in the My Documents/Inventor folder.
Additional info:
I am operating Autodesk inventor pro 2013.
My project is set to a folder C:inventor workspace
And the folder i am trying to save into is in that folder
