I had tried some variations for naming files that are handled by an external editor (PhotoShop), but didn't like the results after all. Now I'd like to revert to the Lightroom default of -Edit1, -Edit2, etc., but how to get those defaults back for any future edited files.

Is there any general, standard format that preserves all these editing features but is portable between most sophisticated graphics editors?
i'm in action schematic and if i reset any node (for example images/surface) then some parameter is still not affected. For example : the blend type and surface type and couple more are not affected by that reset function. Is this a bug ?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI transferred my photos from Lightroom 2 to 4. Unfortunately all the changes I made in the develop module have been reset. In the develop module each photo still has a history of changes, with the last entry being 'Reset Settings', so by reverting to the prior entry I can bring the photo back to its developed state. But I would have to do this manually for every single photo. Is there any way I can reverse the reset on all photos?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter importing to Lightroom and doing some developent changes, I decided to restart my whole Catalog. There are no XMP files for the changes I made, but surprisingly it shows after re-importing the images back into Lightroom (using "Add"), some files show as previously being edited, so now the original files (in split view) show as the last edit.
Is there any way to clear all changes made to revert back to a clean original file ?
I have created a new folder with all my photos. Within it are individual folders named by year (2013, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2009...).
I have several old catalogs with photos pointing to different files on several external HDs. I want to relink them nice and neatly so that they all point to the photos on my newly created folder on a dedicated external HD.
How can I relink all the photos? I've searched all over the internet but the only information that I can find are those related to "missing photos and question marks in the corner (and not just "resetting paths" as in Expression Media/iView). I have attempted to FORCE the question mark and relink it that way but Lightroom will not find nearby files. It only finds photos taken on the same day.
There must be some easy way like in Expression Media/iView to simply reset the path, i.e., manually relink in big batches (all photos in one folder).

I have a large catalog of images I have touched up to prepare for use.
Today when I loaded the catalog, every image has a 'reset' at the top of this History stack. This is undoing all my modifications, but all the operations I did perform are still listed under that.I want to remove the 'reset' from the top of History of every image in this catalog so I get back to what I had already done.
I recently installed Lightroom 4.3 on my computer and made an error in setting my defaults. Then I made some corrections using Windows Explorer, now when I try to start program I get message "Lightroom encountered an error when reading previous cache and needs to quit". "Lightroom will attempt to fix this problem next time it launches".
The only option available is to quit Lightroom. After attempting to restart Lightroom several times including a reboot I get the same message.
Do I need to uninstall lightroom and then reinstall or is there a way to delete the catalog and start over.? I can't run lightroom to make any changes unless there is a way to bypass the quit option.
I've been experimenting with LR4, but can't figure out how to reset all keywords and restart from scratch.
I've deleted every catalog I can find (they were all under a Lightroom folder under Pictures).
I start Lightroom and create a new catalog. I exit, delete the default catalog and restart.
I import a folder with about 6 images, each with a few non-hierarchical keywords.
Lightroom gets inventive and puts them into hierarchies that it remembered from earlier in the day when I had imported keywords from Bridge and then tried to fix the mess Lightroom made of them. Where is it getting these old hierarchies from??
How do I stop this nonsense and start clean?
In Lightroom 3 when you moved through images these modify keys (+ and -) would always remain at the temperature slider. It seems to now always default to exposure. Is there anyway you can change this?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a series of images taken with different settings and I want to quickly compare them at 1:1 in different areas of the image, center and corners. I have discovered that if I select the series I want to examine and then go to the first image and zoom that image to the position that I wish to when I use the arrow keys to move to each subsequent image will be shown zoomed into the same position
If I don't ever go to any of the other images and zoom anywhere this works just fine. The zoom location is remembered just for the first image. However, if i accidentally or deliberately zoom on one of the other images it will remember that zoom location forever which breaks the technique described above.
how to remove the remembered zoom location from an image like it is when you first import it into LR?
Installed LR4 today and ran into a problem.I have been working with alot of negatives lately and therefore my photos have a reversed tone curve. When I converted my existing catalog all looked fine, using the old previews. But when I go into develop on any of the photos the tone cureve gets reset to normal behaivour, and I have to redo the "invert". And all this using the old process (2010).
View 2 Replies View Relatedi recently updated to 5.3 and everything was great, just like normal.. then after an import of raw files, i selected one to develop and went to look for my "exposure" slider on the right side of the screen. it has disappeared??? i also am missing my simple saturation slider too. now i have an extremely indepth saturation sliders for every color. i have tried to reset tool settings, i have searched around, i even reinstalled lightroom hoping i would get it back to what i am used to...
is there a preference file that i can delete to get me back to 100% default settings?
i know i can drag the left or right panel to enlarge or restrict the width of the left or/and right pannel? is there a way to reset the width ? i mean have the default size?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Seagate Backup Plus external hard disk drive for the sole purpose of storing my photo files in the Backup Drive. How do I do this? If I select a certain photo and go to File>Export that takes me to the Hard Drive location, which is a desktop Mac. My external HDD is connected to the Mac, but by clicking on the Hard Drive as end destination, am I storing it on the Seagate HDD? I don't think so.
Shouldn't the Mac recognize the presence of an external hard drive and give it a letter designation? By the way, I would first like to create various folders in the external drive for different photo ctegories (e.g., landscapes, people, etc.)
During a clean install of LR4 it comes up with an "Import" dialogue box for importing into LR4.
However my Pics are on an external usb drive and the LR3 Cat I saved to usb. Whats the process to install this type of setup
I'm running Lightroom 4 on a Mac OSX 10.6.8 and using Elements 10 as my external editor. When I right click and select EDIT IN and choose Elements, nothing happens. When setting up Elements as my editor for LR, I'm sure I chose the right folder for Elements. I also tried deleting and restoring the defaults and then setting up Elements again.

No when I open an image in LR4 and will do" edit in open as smart object", I can not select this option even the HDR or the pano option. In my external editor there is still edit in Photoshop CS4 instead of PS CS6. My additional editor there I can select my PS CS6 because I have add the CS6 as additional editor.

I use all three and to be honest it is a real in the butt importing my images into Lightroom, editing, then exporting as original format, opening in Camera Raw so i can take advantage some of it's new editing tools (which are far superior to lightroom's) then opening the file in Photoshop.
Why do we need all three, shouldn't Lightroom be the Camera Raw program. Also is there a way around having images editted in Photoshop or any external editor from saving the edited file in Lightroom. I do not need the edited file saved in the original directory and part of the catalog... I have already edited it and need it saved into my working directory. We should at least have an option in the preferences or in the "Edit with" dialog box.
I have lightroom 5.3 I want to use DxO 9 from within Lightroom as an external editor, to both convert raw to tiff and make use of the lens corrections. I want to have both Raw files and tifs created by DxO 9 in my catalog. I can do it externally then import both folders after I do the work in DxO or possibly do it within Lightroom using DxO 9 as an external editor. The instructions in the Lightroom help section tell me I can add the program as an available external editor by going to "photo" dropdown and select edit in and then pick the "provided link" which lets me insert a link to DxO 9 but such an option does not appear in lightroom 5.3 as best as I can find. Is it possible to do this or do I just avoid lightroom until I use DxO to create my altered tif files and then import both folders (tiff and NEF raw) into Lightroom. I am in windows 8 pc
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking of moving all my pictures to an externa drive with usb3 (2,5", 5400), so I can use my laptop, and another computer with lightroom.
My first concern is if it's a good idea to keep the catalog on the drive, so that I have the same catalog when I use my second computer. Is there a risk with this and will this affect the speed using lightroom? If I keep the catalog local, can I then work work (rate, add keywords etc) with the pictures without my disc connected (when traveling)?
Will the work be much slower compared to multiple internal 7200 discs as on my stationary pc? I have a lot of photos (45000, DNG) and prefer to keep all om the same drive, (but using my laptop I will have more time to reduce)I have a Dell xps12 (touch), with windows8, 256 gb SSD and i7 with 8 gb ram.
I have an Eizo external monitor connected to my MBP and use the external for editing. I have been doing so for a couple years now and with all versions of Lightroom (even 4.2). I have always been able to see the changes/edits real-time on the external monitors when adjusting something with one of the LR sliders. Ever since I installed the latest LR update (4.3)- I don't see changes realtime. I have to wait until I let go of the mouse/slider to see the changes/adjustments.

View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen editing an image or images in an external editor, such as CS5, OnOne, Nik, etc, LR5 places the images (when it works) at the end of the image sequence instead of where the origonal image came from and stacking the edited images with it. This is different than LR3 or LR4. LR5 does not seem to play well with Nik software either. After editing three images in Nik DHR Efex Pro 2 the saved image did not reapear in LR5. This was never a problem in LR4. Is there some 'tweeking' that needs to be done in LR5?
