Lightroom :: How To Get LR4 To Open When Inserting SD Card (MAC 10.8.2)
Apr 5, 2013
I had LR3 opening when I inserted an SD card but when I installed LR4.4 it broke that and now I can't get LR4 to open when inserting a card. Still fairly new to MAC's.
Lightroom 5.0 fails to detect memory card and open import dialog. This has always worked fine in Lightroom 4, 3,and 2. Same cards, same camera, same iMac using OS X 10.8.4. Manual importing works OK, card is detected just fine.
I have just unstakked CS4, but my video cardNividia 7300 GT ONLY HAS 250 mb OF MEMORY. There are some functions of GL functions (3D) that cannot be used. Also, occasionally Photoshop shuts off the enhanced GPU functions and most important, even when it is in use there is NOT the smooth zooming from increasing or decreasing the size of the image.
I realize I should be using 512 MB on a video card. Adobe has a listing of cards that work with this new function but their prices anfd functions vary greatly. I will NOT be using 3D functions for graphics and use the computer for gaming. This is mainly for the new advanced functions in Photoshop.
I know I need 512 MB and open GL 2.0, but not the most advanced and expensive card. Any choices between nividia or ATI for CS4
how to see that's half the battle here, trying to figure out how to ask theblasted question so someone can help me.....have one image open and insert another image over it. Like a large image and then a smaller image in a corner or in the center. Or how to make a collageof images.
When I first started using PSCS4, I was using a nVidia gs7800 card and with it open GL was flaky so I changed to an nVidia GeForece 9500 GT w/512 RAM )claiming open GL 3.0) and then open GL was stable. With the upgrade to 11.01 and the latest nVidia drivers for my card, PSCS4 now says I have no open GL it can use and I should either change my video card and/or update its software. What gives and, more important, how can I get get PS to use the open GL I have?
I'm using AutoCAD LT 2013 and I'm having problems inserting .dwg and .dxf files into an existing open dwg. I have previously done this successfully on this computer so I'm pretty sure that I am doing it correctly. What happens is this: I go to insert the file, select it and it shows the correct image in the preview window, but when the actual file inserts into the drawing, it's a completely different file all together. The funny thing is, I have restarted my computer and the program several times, and each time it inserts a different drawing. I have tried inserting a .dwg and .dxf and they both insert the wrong one. I tested it by xrefing the document that I want to put in and it shows up correctly when I xref. I've also tried saving it as a block with the WBLOCK command, and still the wrong thing inserts.
I downloaded the service pack for AutoCAD LT 2013 and nothing has changed.
I accidentally deleted some photos from a memory card. I recovered them using software called "Recover My Files". This software recovered the files but now I can't open them in CS3. I took these with an old Canon Rebel DSLR and they should not need converting, they opened fine before I deleted them.
When I insert an SD card LR5 will show a preview of all the content, but when you click on import, yget and error message saying it can't read the files.
I am using LR4.1  Just tried to import some images from an SD card (using a card reader) as I normally do and the import freezes on "importing files". Before import the thumbnails shows and I have tried a different SD card. Is this a bug? do I need to re-install LR?
Just come back from a photo trip and tried to import my images into Lightroom from my SD Card and Lightroom doesn't see them, all it see's are the images I took on Saturday. Â Today I arrived at my location to photograph Pasque Flowers, I took 1 image then realised I hadn't deleted the images from Saturday so I used the 'Delete Images From Card' in my camera's menu and then proceeded to take a few hundred images. During the day I reviewed my images several times, so I know they were definitely saved to the SD Card. Â When I got home I tried to import my images in to Lightroom and all Lightroom saw on the card were the images I took last Saturday.
I tried closing down Lightroom and opening it again - nothing, just the images from Saturday!
I tried using the SD Card reader on my iMac - again, just Saturday's images were found.
I then put my card back into my camera and all I could see were my Pasque flower images from today.  So it seems my camera see's todays images yet Lightroom only sees the images from Saturday I had deleted via my camera's menu at the start of today.  Lightroom 4.4 iMac 27" Canon 5D MkIII Lexar USB 2 Card Reader Sandisk 16GB Extreme Pro SD Card
I am having issues importing photos from my SD card into LR4. I have 319 pictures on my SD card and LR is only recognizing 283 of them. In the Library module, I can see the pics that LR is not recognizing but they are greyed out. When I put my mouse over the picture it says "This photo has already been imported" but I never imported it. I did format my memory card right before my shoot if that makes a difference. I am using a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X Version 10.6.8. I have tried to restart my computer, restart LR, eject the SD card then put it back in but it's still not working. I attached a screen shot
Import problem  Lightroom 5  Mac OS X 10.8.4  Try to import CR2 files from CF card - files show in import screen but then will not import  "Import Results  Some import operations were not performed.  The following files were not imported because they could not be read (1):......."  Then lists ALL files on CF card  I tried copying CR2 files to a temporary folder on my desktop but get exactly the same message. Also tried importing iPhone images and get exactly the same message.  This all worked for the first week LR5 was installed and has just started happening after a week
Trying to import some photos from an SD card that has worked in the past. First, I get an error "The following files could not be imported because they could not be read" with a list of all files. This includes files I've successfully imported into LR in the past (tried them as a test, since they didn't get caught by the "new" filter). Â So I copied all the images to my HD and tried importing from there, and got a different error: "Could not copy a file to the requested location" for all files. Â Settings: "Copy as DNG", "Into Subfolder: By date: 2012/YYYY-MM-DD" Â I'm running OSX 10.7.4 and Lightroom 4.1 The files are a mix of JPG, CR2, and MOV
I have been using Lighroom4.3 for nearly a year now with no problems. All of a sudden, it refuses to import any of my NEF files from my SD card. I have tried all my SD cards to no avail. In the import window the files appear as thumbnails, but when I ask to import I get the message 'Files were not imported because they could not be read (3)' Â My camera is a Nikon D3000.
I can't import directly from an XQD card into Lightroom on my laptop (Windows 7). The images appear in the import window, but I get the following message when trying to import: "The following files were not imported because they could not be read." I can move the files over to the hard disk where Lightroom can import them but only by using the "Add" function. This precludes my adding the date to the file name and converting the files to DNG.  The funny thing is I can import them into my desktop, but it has less memory and an older processor which during the import often exceeds the memory capabilities and corrupts the image file.
I edit my photos in lightroom 5.3 at home, i then have to export the photos to a SD card, so i can get them printed at photo store. photos look great on my monitor at home. when i get the photos back they look very bright and colors are not correct.Â
where is the "eject card after import" in lightroom 4.1?  'Devices', which is under 'Sources' (for import) has dissapeared, and only 'files'shows, The 'eject after import' phrase and it'scheckbox has vanished.
I am a Canon shooter and a seasoned Lightroom user. About a month ago my Mac stopped allowing me to import images from my CF card into Lightroom. I have worked with Mac and Adobe to no avail. At this point I know that my Mac can see the card and will me allow me to download images into iPhoto. It will generate thumbnails in Lightroom, but will tell me that it's unable to read the images when I try a complete import. If I switch users on my Mac to a dummy user, I am able to import the same images off my CF card. To my knowledge, I didn't changed any settings, at least not intentionally.
I just purchased an imac and lr4. I've plugged in my SanDisk card reader and loaded my cf card. lr4 says the files were not imported because they could not be read. The files are Nikon NEF raw. What do I need to do to import them? According to Adobe's web site lr4 comes with Nikon D2X raw format already included.
I plugged canon 1D mark IV with LR 4.3 for tether shooting. it works great. However, I realized that there is no image save on my CF card. All images were transferred to the computer via tethering. I really want to keep a copy of the card for logistics reason. I couldn't find any setting on LR preference regarding this.
I have latest version of LR4, just tried to import raw and jpg.'s from my card reader for a 5dMKIII. The jpg files will import but the raw do not. Latest version of raw on Mac Lion.
My Lightroom 4 on a Mac has stopped importing from a memory card. It used to do so, but now it hangs up and never actually imports the photos. If I save the photos from the card to a folder on my desktop, it works just fine. I have tried several different memory cards at different speeds, sizes, fullness, and it doesn't seem to matter. What can I do to go back to importing directly from the memory card?
When I import images from my memory card, the images in preview are colored but when rendered in LR4, they are automatically converted to black and white. I made sure that in the import panel that 'Import During Import'> Develop Settings> None. My images show up in LR4 colored for an instance then convert to black and white. This is the first time I have encountered this problem. Am I missing something. I've checked my camera settings with nothing that I believe is the problem. I've been successful in using the other presets under 'Apply during Import' > Develop Settings, but using 'None' doesn't prevent the images from being converted to black and white in LR4. the same is true for importing to Bridge in PS-CS6. I get the same results of all the images being converted to black and white.Â
