Lightroom :: How To Keep User Order When Exporting Collection
Feb 7, 2013I made a collection of about 300 VC's, chosen from many folders in my catalogue. These images were taken over a 10 year period, using 3 different cameras and having different names and file types. The collection was sorted by "User Order". I spent a good deal of time organizing the collection so that the images made visual sense when shown as a slide show on a digital album.
I exported the collection to my hard drive as jpegs, and checked the box to place them back in my catalogue, in a designated subfolder within my parent folder. All went well except they are now completely out of order, and that order makes no logical sense whatsoever - not by date, metadata, filename, attributes, nothing that I can figure out. I have to start all over again to reorder them - something that will take several hours.
How can I keep my designated user order when I export a collection? I am using LR 4.3.
Lightroom :: 4.0 Create Collection In Wrong Place

- Open LR 4.0
- Chose a Collection set
- right click, "Create new Collection"
- The collection is created in the previous collection set and on in the one selected.
To me. It is more logic to place the new collection in to the selected collection set and not next to .
Lightroom :: Can Export Collection Set As One Catalog
Mar 27, 2013I'm sure this worked in earlier versions of LR (?), but it's been a while since I've required doing this. However last night I needed to export a Collection Set housing several Collections as a single Catlog to an external HD. The options I chose were to export the negative files and available previews.
I seemed to recall that if you Right-Clicked on the Collection Set name there used to be an option "Export Collection as a Catalog", but this option seems only available on Collections not Collection Sets.
Never-the-less I selected the Collection Set, then chose Export as Catalog from the file menu; This worked but only the first 4 collections within the collection set were exported. I repeated this again with the same response. So is this a bug?
I know I could export each Collection as an individual catalogs then combine them but the Collection Set houses 13 sub collections, so rather laborius.

Jan 2, 2013I want to edit an export preset and in this example I want to remove the check mark to "Add to This Catalog". How do I "save" this change to that preset?

Nov 17, 2012I'd like to be able to setup an export preset that would save the selected photos to a subfolder within my export folder with the name of the subfolder automatically set to match the collection (or collection set) name. So, if my parent export folder is say c:PhotosExports and my collection name is 'Summer2012', I'd like for it to automatically export any photos in that collection to c:PhotosExportsSummer2012. Is this possible or do I need to set it manually each time?
Reason I'd like to automate this is say I'm in a rush to post up the pics, I might go ahead and export them without editing much and then manually cut and paste them from c:PhotosExports into a Summer2012 folder. If I later make edits to the photos, it'd be much handier to just use a preset export knowing that they would automatically update the files in the Summer2012 folder, rather than having to do another manual cut and paste every time, or manually select the folder if choosing the 'Choose folder later' option. Is there another way to do to what I'm looking for?
Lightroom :: Export Multiple Versions In One Preset?
Jan 10, 2012I have 4 different Export Presets, each one exports the selected photos with specific names and specific properties.I want to export five photos, and I want to make four versions for each photo, each version being defined by a different preset.
Is it possible that on the first three presets, I could configure them with an export action that will initiate the next preset export?I export with preset one, which has an export action that starts an export of the same files, using preset 2, until preset 4 which will not have an export action.
Lightroom :: Export Downsize Not Applied To All Photos In A Collection
Mar 12, 2014I just bought Nikon D800 and I think 36MP is too large to give my customers, and I want to downsize to 16 MP (or any other resolution). This megapixel downsize function doesn't even work on ANY of the photos in a collection when exported. Then I manually set the H x W to 4920 x 3264 px respectively. That worked on SOME of the pictures, while some still remain enormous... (e.g. 7360 x 4912 px) WHY? I have cropped some photos so I figured the resize wouldn't apply to the crops with H or W smaller than the new set H or W. But I cross-checked it and I can't seem to find a pattern, as some photos that are un-cropped remain "untouched" at export. I have set the DPI to 300, but should that matter as long as they're still on my screen?

Dec 16, 2011I have a preset that allows me to export my photo to a subfolder of the original folder. In my case it's simply called jpg export. This allows me to do all my edits when the shot is in it's original "Date taken" folder and all my edited shots from that folder show up in the jpg export folder when I run the preset. My issue is that the jpg shows up in BOTH the original folder and the jpg export folder. I know it's operator error but what's wrong with my settings? Under Export Location I have Export To: Same folder as original photo (this is the reason for my problem but I am not sure what to change it to) Put in Subfolder: is checked and the folder is called jpg export. Add to This Catalog: is also checked.

Jul 11, 2012For example, I often export a folder of full-res images, and then go back and do the same images as lo-res with watermarks, that I export to an "email" folder inside the hi-res folder. There are some nice html presets in Lightroom, but I cant get them into tumblr. I now installed a tumblr plugin (Jeffrey Friedl), but it only let me upload a picture onto my main tumblr page. As a workaround, I posted the images I wanted him to look at on SmugMug and we had a disaster. Their sequencing on screen does not match my "as shot" sorting on my Lightroom (4). Feb 4, 2013I export many web graphics at the same size so with x6. I thought I would love the presets with x6 however when I set the preset to export like at 700px width it changes and re-sizes the exported graphic to 350px width. It show 700px on the screen when I load the preset however right when I click export or if I place me cursor in the transformation box it changes. I even tried to change it too 1400px hoping it would then change it to 700px but it still changes it to 350px.
