Lightroom :: Book Module Hangs During Upload To Blurb
Sep 3, 2013
I'm unable to upload my photo book to Blurb. I sent the almost identical book two weeks ago without issue. I have since made a few minor changes and now I cannot upload. I've tried 5 times, with and without a Cover Page, and it hangs about mid-way through the upload.
I am trying to up load a 40 page 12" x 12" photo book to Blurb from the book module in Lightroom 4.2. It renders the pages and then having rendered the cover gets stuck, about 50% to 60% through the process. None of the photographs are starred or colour coded. I have uploaded successfully from this iMac in the last few weeks.
I am in the process of making a photobook using Lightroom and discovered when I reached page 240 that I couldn't add any additional pages, much to my surprise. I was surprised because I knew from Blurb's website that the limit for standard paper is 440 pages and mistakenly assumed that this limit would also apply within Lightroom. I did more research online and found many others being surprised by this limitation after spending hours and days on a photo book. I will likely work around this by exporting from Lightroom to .jpg and uploading to Blurb, but that will take extra time and effort and reduces the appeal of using Lightroom to create a Blurb book. I had also tried exporting from Lightroom to .pdf only to find that the .pdf format exported by Lightroom is not compatible with the requirements of Blurb.
I'm still having troubles in uploading the books in Lightroom; I use LR 5.2 with Windows 8 64 bit and even if I turn off the firewall and antivirus, it keeps me saying that there is an error in uploading.
I tried also to remove the background and graphic, but with no luck. I would really like to use this feature, but up to now is not workable. PS: I can save it as *.pdf.
I have a 150 page book I am trying to upload from Lightroom to Blurb. It does contain quite a lot of photos (900-ish) and I have tried using a cable as well but to no awail. I am able to download a pdf version.
The process works like this: It starts "rendering" photos which works well. Then it starts "uploading photos" and after a while a pop-up message appears saying that problems have occured and do I want to retry uploading.
I have tried keeping the computer from going to sleep but with the same result.
Book page upload error message using book module and blurb format oin lightroom 5. not enough information in error message to know waht the problem possibilities are. Book has 64 pages
I have made a book in the book module and was really looking forward to send it to Blurb for printing. I push the "Send book to Blurb... " button but nothing happens. I have tried to export to PDF and JPEG aswell, but nothing. I am Connected to internet, I have an account at Blurb but no reaction. Are there any settings I have missed or are there any bugs that prevents me from exporting? Do Blurb ship to Norway or is that the problem?
I successfully created and uploaded a book to Blurb a few months ago. I edited a little bit of text and tried uploading again, and now I'm getting an error message that photos can't be rendered. I'm at a loss about what this message means. I'm in Lightroom 5.0 now.
I am trying to upload a book (small square / softcover / ProLine Uncoated, 34 pages) to Blurb. But during this (after the rendering of all the pages, after uploading of the cover and pages, during 'Waiting for Blurb Server Processing) the process stops with an 'CoverSize' error message. No additional information is given.
It happened in LR4 and still does in LR4.1. The cover of my book has one image in full spread, I have read images spread over two pages may result in error messages.
I was testing Lightroom 4 Beta and I prepared a Blurb Book... I worked on it over a period of several days, and it was find, always there... It kind of automatically saved, once it has been created, for what I understood.
Today I was working on a photoshop file to creat a cover for it (no template allowing me to do what I needed inside of Lightroom), and that was the last step before to send it to print.
I had to navigate into the Library module to send pictures to photoshop. And when I get back to the Book module... it was all reset. No picture, only a 2 pages empty project.
I quited without saving anything, hoping to get the software back to where it was, but it didn't work. It seems I lost all my work.
I'm not familliar with apps that save projects on there own. Where is my book? How can I get it back?
I am having problems uploading from Book in Lightroom to Blurb. I have a book collection saved and I am connected to my page in Blurb. When I 'Upload to Blurb' the loading bar top left does not fill and the book does not upload. This is recent as I have successfully uploaded books before. There are no problems with my internet connection.
I just completed and saved a book inLR4 and when I press Send Bpook to Blurb absolutely nothig happens? How do I get all this work to Blurb without losing it?
When I print on my Epson R1900, I have to increase the Brightness (+20) in the Print Module on all prints. There is no corresponding option in the Book Module for sending files to Blurb. How can I make the equivalent adjustment for Blurb?
I am assuming that the Blurb profiles are close enough to the Epson profiles (as far as brightness is concerned).
If I have to edit every single image separately, what is the best way to do this? Is Exposure the equivalent of Brightness in LR 4, and is the metric the same (i.e. increasing by +20 in both)?
I have a book that was created in Blurbs BookSmart. I saved it as a Template. Is there some way I can import that template into LR 4.4 to use as a guide for a new book?
I am remaking a blurb book an I only want to change one image, I want to color correct it and keep the rest of the book intact. Also I need to change the text on one image.
I made a Blurb book with Lightroom 5 saved it (I thought) in Lightroom and as a PDF on my desktop. When I got a print copy back from blurb I want to make edits. When I went to find the book in LR5 there was no sign of it. How can I upload the PDF version on my desktop back into LR5
As does Export to JPEG and Send Book to Blurb. No dialog box, no error message, no crash. When I click the button with any of the export options, absolutely nothing happens. This is with a 6-page sample spread. I am using the 4.1 trial version on Snow Leopard.
i cannot export my saved book to pdf or jpeg or blurb. Nothing works. If i start a new book , then it works but i would have to redo the entire layout.
I've just published my first book on Blurb. Looks great but all the pages are offset by one in Blurb when compared to my LR original. So all the pages that are on the left in Lightroom are on the right in the Blurb version. I can easily add another page and re-publish but it un-nerves me when things are inconsistent.
I'm trying to create a Blurb book using LR4.2. I'm running into problems laying out the dust jacket. All my pages are full bleed but I don't know the full bleed pixel dimensions are for the dust jacket (standard landscape 10" x 8"). I'm using the layout where one image covers all of the flaps, covers and spine. I would need the pixel height plus the pixel widths for the flaps, covers, and spine.
I am trying to export a 80 page book to jpg at quality 60, 75 dpi so that I can consult with someone about the layout. The module will only export the cover and the first 4 pages.
I'm having issues with Lightroom 4.3 not exporting to pdf from the "Book" module. I've cleared my library and re-imported the images back in and placed them on the book ready to export to pdf but when I click export it says "Exporting book to pdf" in the top-left but nothing shows on the progress bar? I've resized all of the images to be 6MB TIFF files as this worked for me on a pdf I did yesterday.
I have previously used the book module to set up a photo book. During the time I was working with it, I would switch over to the develop module to make adjustments to pictures and then come back and continue working on the book. I have since decided not to use that book and cleared it out.
Now, something has changed (and I can't figure out what). I'll go into the book module and place some pictures into a book. However, if I leave the book module and come back, all updates to my book are gone and I am shown an empty book. Another odd thing that is happening though is that the pictures in the film strip along the bottom of the screen still show a number above them indicating that they have been used in a book. But I can't access or find that book anywhere.
In Lightroom 4, all my photos are currently sitting in the Library Module in Raw form so none have been exported into jpg form. When I do Auto Layout into the Book Module, it imports all my photos which are currently Raw. Should I before I do Auto Layout in Book Module save them in the Develop Module as JPGs? If I can do Auto Layout with raw photos (and then send onto Blurb), would I lose any detail in the photos by not saving them to a Jpg first? Does Lightroom 4 recognize a difference between jpg and raw files in Book Module?
Putting a book together with the LR4 book module - incredibly my first time as a) have been too used to iPhoto books, and b) have been negligent in making books PERIOD. That aside I just want to make sure I am interpreting the Page Bleed guides correctly. If I understand properly displaying the Page Bleed shows the area of the image that will be chopped off during book production to produce a nice, clean full bleed final product. And so to that end with the Page Bleed guides active I should ensure that any image detail that I want to ensure does NOT get clipped should be INSIDE those bleed guides.
I'd hate to go through all this, spend the money and time, and realize too late I blew it.
I use the Book module and export the resulting pages to jpeg files. Any text (text field, page caption, photo caption) is rasterized when zooming to 1:1 on the exported jpeg file. The pattern on the font edges is sharp without any smoothing (only black or white pixels, no shades on edges). In the printed pictures one can still see this pattern, it is really ugly. I never saw this when usig photoshop or any of those simple online programs for preparing photobooks.
In the "Book Settings" I set the same resolution as I use for printing by Blurb-like printing companies, e.g., 400ppi/dpi. Of course, the "solution" would be to set much higher ppi in the "Book Settings". But then propably the export sharpening does not work properly.
