Lightroom :: 4.4 - Disrupted Files When Importing RAW From Nikon D3100?
Jul 9, 2013
I am using Lightroom 4.4 on a 2013 MacBook Pro using OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.4. When importing RAW files from my Nikon D3100 they are getting disrupted and have coloured lines running either vertically or horizontally across them. I get it when i copy as DNG as well as just copying them as RAW files from my SD card.
I have Lightroom 3 version 3.6 installed on my MacBook. I just upgraded to OS X10.8.2. Now when I try to import raw images from my Nikon D3100 camera I get images to preview but after I select images to import and then select "import" I receive error messages and then a notice that there are no images to import. The import function then totally shuts down.
I also just downloaded the most current version of Java Run. How do I fix this problem?
I'm familiar with how to install a camera raw plugin for photoshop. However, I've had a difficult time finding the correct download link for the Nikon d3100 for ps cs4.
I have PS CS4 Extended 11. I have tried to open RAW (NEF) pictures from my NIKON D3100. I get the error message 'Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document'. I have tried downloading the latest update. I currently have Camera RAW Version 5.7.0.213. I have also downloaded the DNG converter but I still get the same error. I am using Windows 7 on a laptop.
Lightroom does not seem to recognize my Nikon D7000. I connect the camera, open LR, and nothing happens. I can click Import, but it doesn't recognize the device. The D7000 comes with Nikon's ViewNX2 software which they want you to use for import. Do I really need to use that to import photos from the camera, then import them from ViewNX2 into LR? That seems like a pain. I just upgraded to LR 3.6
I use Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit. I saw an item that suggested going into Explorer and clicking "show hidden files and folders": I clicked that and then restarted the computer. No change in behavior.
I've left the import up for more than 5 minutes (someone mentioned that LR4 is slow): I never got the import done.
When I click the "X" at the end of the import thermometer, I get a message (in that location) that the import is canceled. The display in the main window (where the image would appear) still says "importing files". I have to quit LR4 and start it up again to do anything else.
I was previously using LR3.6, that used to work fine. I tried going back to LR3.6 to import some files I recently shot: now LR3.6 does the same thing as LR4 (hangs when I try to import Nikon Electronic Format files).
Deleting files and saving files brings up an error message. Files can't be deleted from lightroom which makes editing a nightmare. Also Saving Files (raw of jpeg), brings up an error message everytime.
I did a search and couldn't find this issue listed. I convert my Nikon D90 raw files to DNG. Never seem to have a problem with that except that the display(s) seldom shows the results of applying Noise Reduction (Color or Luminance). If my display is at Fit or Fill I don't see the results of what I am doing. If I zoom in to 1:1 or more, then I can see the results. All works fine if I am using a jpg file, it is just the DNG files that do this.
If I want to see the entire picture with Noise Reduction applied I have to switch to the Library Module. Then when I go back to the Develop module the main display goes back to not showing the Noise Reduction, but the secondary display is ok until I apply another effect then boom, back to Noise Reduction not displaying. All of the other changes I make work just fine. It is just the Noise Reduction that causes the problem. This is really a killer when I am working on photos. This problem existsed before 3.6. When I switch to the Library Module it takes a few seconds before the secondary display shows the photo with the Noise Reduction applied.
I have a quad core 2.4ghz with 8gig of ram and Windows 7 Pro 64bit OS. Plenty of CPU and memory available.
I have been using Lightroom 3 since 2011 and haven't had any trouble importing Nikon NEF files until today when I got an error message saying, "The follwing files were not imported because they could not be read." I tried importing from several different CF cards so I don't think they are the problem. And I'm using a D700 which is supported by LR3. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling LR like some have suggested but I'm still getting the same error message.
I am doing some editing work for a magazine. The lead editor had issues with adobe camera raw viewing some of my edits. The xmp files are there but for some reason they are not loading. We narrowed it down to just the Nikon D4 files. I just had her download a trial version of LR4 and we are getting the same issue. The xmp's are there in the same folder as the .nef files. Import into Lightroom, and all D4 files do not show my edits.
We are both running Lightroom 4.3, Camera Raw 7.3.
I Can't open Nikon D4 NEF files in LR 4.1 RC2 on a Mac running OSX 10.7.4. Same problem with Photoshop CS 6 Beta with ACR 7.1 as well as DNG Converter 7. The files will not open on Preview either, although the camera is on Apples list of supported cameras. What is going on here?
I just bought a Nikon D600 which is not supported by CS5. I heard that Lightroom 4.2 will support it so I shelled out $199 for that product. Now I see that if I import a raw file into LR, work on it and then try to send it to PS for more editing I can't do that. I am told I have to spend another $199 to upgrade to CS6 because Adobe has no plans to have CS5 support my camera. This is a rip-off. I was told that I can convert all my NEF files to DNG, bring them into LR and then into PS, but "the quality will not be as good".
I am trying to import files into lightroom 4.4 using nikon d610. They were shot in RAW and will not import. If I use JPG they will import into lightroom.
When I try to import raw files taken on a d610 Nikon Lightroom 3 does not recognize them. Is there something I can install or do I need to upgrade to Lightroom 5?
I bought a Nikon D600 but am unable read the NEF files read with my version of Lightroom 3 that runs on an older Mac Book which cannot be upgraded to LR4. If I buy a new Mac, can I upgrade to LR4 on the new machine or do I have to purchase a new version? If I can upgrade how do I transfer LR3 to the new machine. Also, I have a student version of Photoshop CS5 Extended. Can I purchase an upgrade to CS6 on a new machine?
In doing research I saw where both Lightroom 4 and Photoshop CS6 had some problems with Apple's OS X 10.8. Have these been resolved yet?
