I'm trying to create a high resolution version of a low resolution texture used in a game. I've found a pattern that I think is acceptable, from a real image. Now the question is this: how can I colorize the large image to that it is as resemblant as possible to the original one? I've tryed a simple colorize, but the result is not so good...

When trying to create a .ps file in Illustrator CS6, the saved file location defaults to the startup drive.
I have to navigate each time to where I would like the file saved, unlike previous versions of Illustrator which would save subsequent files to the last folder used.

I'm attempting to create an interactive PDF file (starting in AI CS6 16.2.1) with my MPB. When I duplicate an artboard and hold shift to drag it (with content inside) the original board contents move randomly off by 3-4 pixels. Sometimes the original board has certain elements that jump and others don't. It's quite random, and very frustrating as both boards need to be identical. I've checked that align to pixel grid, snap to grid, and snap to point were all turned off.

I have created specific pixel height and width images for Facebook and other Social-Media applications. When I export or save for web, the images are pixelated or blurry. I have tried for art or for type, both seem to provide pixelated images for both png or jpg.
You can see the blurred lines in this image.

I am trying to create a 30" 24" poster that contains (12) 3" x 4" photos. I have resized all of the photos from 2.5MB, but the completed poster is only 850kb. I do not think that if I were to print this out to 30" x 24" that it would be 'poster quality'.
when I have the file open I noticed that at the bottom left it has (53.8MB) in parenthesis. create the correct resolution that I need to make sure this poster looks like an actual poster?

I was working with Illustrator - InDesign as usual. At the moment of linking my AI file into InDesign, I got this message 8 times in an A4 size frame:
"This is an Adobe® Illustrator® file that was saved without PDF content. To place or open this file in other applications, it should be re-saved from Adobe Illustrator with the "Create PDF Compatible File" options turned on. This option is in the Illustrator Native Format Options dialog box, which appears when saving an Adobe Illustrator file using the Save As command."
Weird... I have never seen this before. I resaved the file, and it keeps happening. I see no such option as "Create PDF Compatible File" when saving just an AI file... I am not trying to make a PDF!
I have done the same procedure linking other AI files into this ID file and it is working as usual. Is just this very one. And it doesn't seem particulary different from what I do everyday...
I finally made a PDF from the AI and placed it into InDesign. But everytime I have to update the AI..

I'm working on a graphic image, but I'm using a bit of photography in it. My problem is that the .jpg I get from the Save as, is not large enough. If I had to start all over, should I create a larger document or is it alright to enlarge the image size and the graphical element itself?

I need to create a color separated layered tiff file from my Illustrator document. I saved it as a color separated .ps file in hopes that I could then convert that to a tiff. My problem is that when I save the .ps file it saves the color separations, but in grayscale. Is there a way to convert an Illustrator file to a color separated tiff?

I have developed a script to perform some Custom action in Illustrator. I want to make this script run from a a File Menu Item so it can be invoked easily. Is there a way to customize Illustrator to add a new menu item or modify the existing menu tems functions. For example if the script needs to be invoked when the user click "Save" is there a way that could be done.

I'm working in a windows environment and have Illustrator CS4. Any scripts out there that might give me a start?

I have for a long time struggled with obtaining hi resolution maps to include in my movies of trips I have done.
I have searched the internet for images of such maps for download and even used screen shots when using Google Earth.
I always wanted a higher resolution so that I could ZOOM in without the image becoming too fuzzy due to the fact that I was ending with an image of only (say) 512 x 288.
I am also a fan of FSX (M/S Flight Simulator) and recently taught myself how to create photo-realistic scenery which uses the TILES from Google Earth to create extra large (in pixels) images of parts of the world.
Today I realised that I could use the same to create images for maps to use in movies (I recently created an image around 5200 x 3000 pixels - the only limit to image size is how much memory you have and so using a 64bit processor and system works a lot.
It is named sBuilderX and it is available from [URL]....There is documentation within the zip file HOWEVER to create the image files for hires maps you will need to search for and download file make_photo-real_ground_textures_in_fs_x.zip which is available as a free download at [URL]...
You may need to join the web site (FREE) to enable the download.
Within sBuilderX you can choose to use Google Earth or or Microsoft Live Virtual Earth, terrain or streets. Also note that the image files are BGL files only however you can change those to JPG if required.
Hope this may have useful for few people who like to include hires maps (which they can use zoom without loosing sharpness) in their movies.

Photoshop CS6 no longer has the Pattern Maker nor supports the plugin that was available in CS5. Any software or 3rd party plugin that will create patterns from high res photo files? I've searched in Google, like crazy, but alas have found nothing.
BTW, for compatibility issues, I'm using OSX Mountain Lion.

I think monitors were all 72ppi, so if you made an image for the web or display on monitor, you made it 72ppi. Now that it seems like monitors are getting higher resolution specs, what does that mean for image resolution?
1. What does 72ppi equate to in terms of monitor resolution?
2. How many ppi should files be made if they are going to be displayed on higher resolution displays, such as Apple's Macbook Pro Retina displays?

This question may seem obvious to some of you but I'd like to understand this issue. I've been taking digital photos in Raw format for use in photoshop, I'd eventually like to send them in to a stock photography site and the one I'm thinking of applying to, Alamy, demands file sizes of 48MB+ per photo in TIFF. I've been uploading them from my camera onto my hard drive and they end up just short of this required file size, around 46MB. Unfortunately a 1GB flash card full of Raw images, when converted to this size, eats up a lot of memory. I don't think I can use all the images for stock photography anyway so I started looking at how I can affect file sizes under "Image"-"Image size" so I can clear up some memory and I've noticed I can play around with the image size if I change the resolution. Currently the 46MB photos are at a resolution of 2000, if I change them to 300, the resulting file size is just over 1MB, which is great because the ones I can't use, I can still store at a reduced size and clear some space on the old hard drive. But I've noticed I can take the same converted 1MB image, change the resolution to 3000 and end up with a 105MB image. OK "So what's your problem?" you might ask. Well, where's all this extra resolution coming from? I can make it go up and down as I please and I have no idea how this is even possible. Shouldn't reducing resolution from 46MB to 1MB forever reduce the quality of the image? How is it possible to go back to the original size or even increase it?

I've received several scanned images from another party in .jpg format. The file sizes of some run about 100k and others about 300k.
When I looked at the image properties they were almost the same for each of them. All of them had a resolution of 96x96 and each having around 40,000 pixels (roughly 500X800 pixel images). The print sizes were all about 5.5x8.5 inches.
Why would .jpg images with similar pixel resolution and number have such different file sizes?

I'm trying to create a high-res desktop background image (1680 x 1050) with a gradient-fill, but the "steps" between the color changes in the background are obvious and I'd like them to be smoothed out. I know that the fill steps are much smoother when a shape is smaller, but I want this to be high-quality and sharp at full size.
Can the "steps" be adjusted to be smaller, or is there a better way I could go about achieving a smoother fill?
Here's an illustration of what I'm talking about. Hopefully it's obvious enough up on this image (you may have to view it full size):

I've encountered a problem when using simple gradients in Illustrator CS6 v v16.0 on the Creative Cloud. My gradients are not smooth, you can see vertical/horizontal delineations in color when in linear mode, and circular delineations when in radial mode. This seemed strange to me since this is vector based. The attached picture is an example of this problem, it's 18x24 at 300dpi. It also persists when I export/save the image. This problem is also present in Photoshop.

I have created a flier in Illistrator (CS6). I want to output a high res PDF, and went through the print window so I could customize it, rather than just 'save as PDF'. Now I can't find a way of converting the ps. file into the finished PDF product. Does distiller still exist? I don't have the acrobat suite and need this output swiftly.
