View 1 RepliesI am new to GIMP.
I want to import a photo, trace geometric shapes over the photo like circles and lines, and then remove the photo. I have a very basic understanding of LAYERS. I have viewed a few tutorials. But I don't know how to import a photo or how to get rid of it once I have drawn the geometric shapes over it.
I'm a furniture maker in Japan, and usually take photos of my work on the road next to my shop. I like the texture of the blacktop. Using Gimp, I'm working up the learning curve, and don't know how to remove the white lines and dirt at the upper corners, and extend the pavement to cover it. I'm hopeful that with Gimp, it can be accomplished.

We have shape file that I imported to MAP 3D using map import, I would like to get the contour lines in 3D and then open them in AutoCAD general and see them in 3D (They must have a z value). How can I do that.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo I have finally been able to create a surface that I like and slice some 3D solids using this surface. But now I would like to draw some contour lines of that surface. I have seen some videos about creating contour lines (such as this one: URL.... ). But in this video they import the surface using the 'connect to data' button in the toolspace area. Is it possible to insert a surface from your drawing into the toolspace area and then draw the contour lines? I managed to insert the layer containing the surface using Data --> Add drawing data --> Drawing layer... but I cannot change style or create contour lines.

All is interrupted by a driveway and series of steps leading to the main level. I'm trying to modify existing surface, but the topo seems to have 'life of it's own' . I've tried to Split some surfaces to make life easier. That worked to some extent. How to make the topography cooperate? Is there a way to 'turn off' triangulation? ( not the visibility ) . I'm certain the contours I'm creating can be built, but Revit is 'changing' them to something else. Some points that I place are simply ignored.
I want to make contour lines in autocad 2010 map 3d, but dont know how to start and where .
I have xyz coordinates in. txt format , something like this: [URL] .....
I tryed to do with spline, but its pretty hard some times :/. I need something that i can import and let autocad draw the contours, if its possbile (import txt or another format if its possible) !??
I cannot import contour lines generated from a TIN. Not always, but this one time. I receive instead boxes with text in them stating "AeccPbCogoPoint"
how not to get this message and receive actual points and polylines?
I have a client that just started using C3D 2010. When I sent him a topographic survey with contour lines (I am also using C3D 2010) he called me and asked if there was a way to select an individual contour line and have it display the elevation in the 'properties' dialog box. I have not been able to find an answer for him.

We recently received a LiDAR data in the form of an .asc file. Brought it fine into Civil 3d.
However, the level data is in mm so levels are showing as 98450 instead of 98.45. The level ranges from 98450 to 166260.
When I create a surface and set the style to show contours, it only displays contour lines below 100,000. Is this a limit in Civil 3D or am I missing some setting somewhere? I'm using the UKIE template btw.
I have Acad2013 installed on my computer. When I received a Acad Civil 3D dwg I could open it and see all (contour lines, etc.). Later I installed an object enabler Civil 3D (Civil3D_2013OE_64Bit.exe) cause Acad2013/Acad Civil 3D issues onto my computer and now when I open the same Civil dwg in Acad2013 I am missing the contour lines.

My surface border and triangles will appear but not the contours. Sometimes if I change surface styles they will appear but other times they are gone forever.

I'm using Autocad 2013 and i have a file with contour lines, with set elevation (z coordinate). I need those elevations to be visible - i mean i need their elevation in a text box near each line. Something like this - [URL]........ How do i go about it?
I've attached the file i need to do this with.
I have an image of a site. I have used the points to trace over the contour lines. I would like to "Drape" or attach the site image to the toposurface for a presentation without having to create all of the site features manually. Is there a way to do this
View 4 Replies View Relatedhow I would go about adding contour lines to a map? I entered roughly 200 points (x, y, and z values) into an x-y plane on AutoCAD and figured that if I were to add contour lines (1' elevation difference), it would rely on the z axis. In short: how do I add contour lines if the points are all plotted?

I am having problems viewing my contour lines after I create a surface. I create the surface using points. The contour lines will show up when I create the surface. After I close the program or the drawing, I am not able to see the contour lines again. The contour lines are on in the surface style. How can I see the contour lines without creating the surface again?

I need to reproduce wavy contour (blueprint) lines which will follow the undulating landscape on a lot of images I have. As per the attachment, they almost have a neon glow and are in a grid format. I can do a grid but adding the wave filter doesn't allow me to adapt it to suit the pic.

When I plot my dwg my contour lines disappear. Looks good in model and layout but when I plot (usually to pdf) the contour lines do not show. Labels for contours are there. I attached samples.

I have spent a while searching online & I'm even more confused, most discussions refer to TINs and triangulation but not sure how to go about it. I have a survey of the site survey csv file prior to any works carried out & that is what i would like to base my contour lines on. The site is relatively flat, about 4 acres in size, relatively even rectangle shape with fall of 200mm from north to south & fall of 2.5m from east to west.

Initially i thought it is already a surface for C3D but i cant seem to follow tutorials. While browsing for solutions from the Internet, it seems it is not even a contour file that can be added in C3D. what is this file and how i can convert it into a surface in C3D?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to lay a mesh on top of some contour lines. I've also tried the loft command, but with little success.
I've tried several terrain plugins, but they all seem to malfunction because I have overlapping contours. Here is the dwg, what I'm trying to make.
I'd like to be able to create a surface or mesh from contour lines to give a better 3D representation of terrain than just contour lines. "Drape" seems to be the tool ACA, but I'm wondering if AutoCAD can do something similar. LOFT sorta works, but even then, I have to do it in sections, and I'm not really looking for a solid.
