AutoCAD Map 3D :: Create New Raster Files Of Slope And Aspect From A DEM?

Apr 15, 2013

is there a way to create new raster files of slope & aspect from a DEM?  I know how to theme the data to display elevations, slope and aspect, but I am looking to actually create new data files.  Just like how the Slope and Aspect  tools in ArcGIS create new files.  I'm exploring options because we don't have Spatial Analyst for our GIS but we do have Map 3D.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create Points By Slope Distance?

Oct 8, 2013

I have a line at a constant grade. I need to create points along this line. The information given is in slope distance and these vary at times.

I've tried the point create methods and they all seem to calculate points at a horizontal distance. How do you enter the slope distance?

I know I can go back to basic Acad methods of divide, changing ucs so horizontal works etc.

wondering if it can be done in the create points commands?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Shoulder Subassembly That Varies Slope In Relation To Lane Superelevation Slope

Jan 22, 2013

i need a shoulder subassembly that varies slope in relation to the lane superelevation slope. i know that i can get a subassembly for the shoulder that will follow the alignment superelevation xml data but in my case i can't use it because we are just adding a shoulder to an existing road. we're not changing the superelevation of the existing road, just milling and overlaying and widening. right now i've created a profile of the outside edge of the shoulder that gives me the correct shoulder slope but whenever i change my centerline profile i have to redo the shoulder profiles which is a real time suck.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Slope To Depth Of 10 Feet Than Change To 2:1 Slope

Aug 13, 2012

I am in the process of transitioning from land desktop to Civil 3D. I design roads in steep terrain and sometimes need to have my catch (daylight) slopes change. So my question is, how do I change a daylight slope at a specified depth? For example, from the shoulder of the road I want a 3:1 fill slope to a depth of 10 feet than change to a 2:1 slope until it catches the existing surface. Can this be built into a subassembly such that if the fill is less than 10 feet it will daylight correctly at a 3:1 and if the depth is greater than 10 feet then it carries the 3:1 for 10 vertical feet and then changes to the 2:1 until it daylights?

Photoshop :: How To Create Action To Crop To Specific Aspect Ratio

Jun 7, 2012

I have images of varying sizes that I need to all be cropped to a specific aspect ratio in the center of the image and extending either to the side edges or the top and bottom depending on using the maximum portion of the image.  How do you set up an action to do this.

If I were to do this by hand, I would use the rectangle marquee, change to fixed ratio, and drag from one edge to the other.  They move the selection to the center (as best I could) .  Then do Image<Crop?

But I need to automate this process and have have it exactly positioned in the center.  Can this be automated in an action?  If so, how?

FYI, I have CS5 (and CS6).  I am comfortable using the image processor.  So as long as I have an action set up, I can process all of my images using the image processor. I also have lightroom 4 if there is some way to do it there.

Photoshop :: Create Action To Bulk Crop Images To 16:9 Aspect Ratio?

how to create an action or script that could take all images in a folder and crop them to an aspect ratio of 16:9 and then resize them to 640x360?

I can't just change the pixels to 640x360 because that would distort the images as the current aspect ratios are not 16:9.

Lightroom :: How To Create Slideshow Full Of Photos With Native Aspect Ratio Of 3:2

Dec 2, 2013

I'm using Lightroom 5.2 on a 27-inch iMac running Mavericks. I want to create a slide show full of photos with a native aspect ratio of 3:2 (from a Nikon D4 and a Nikon D800). I do NOT want the photos to be trimmed along the top and bottom, which is what happens when I choose "Zoom to fill frame" in the Slide Show module. I do NOT want letterboxing along the right and left edges of the photo, which is what I get if I don't choose "Zoom to fill frame" and just export the slide show using the "Export Video" button in the lower left of the Slide Show module. ("Export Video" gives me four choices for "Video Preset," but none of the four is a 3:2 aspect ratio.) I just want a slide show of uncropped 3:2 aspect ratio photos with no border around them whatsoever. Considering how many of the photos taken every day on this planet are still in the 3:2 aspect ratio, I find it hard to believe there isn't a way to do this.

If for some reason there is no way to create such a slide show in Lightroom, I have Creative Suite 5, iPhoto, and iMovie, but I don't want to buy any new software just for this.

VideoStudio :: Rendered Files - Odd Aspect Ratio Changes

Nov 15, 2012

Using X5, I've been assembling video clips taken on holidays into small, specific topic mini-movies (say about 2-3 mins long each) for friends and family, and I've noticed an odd effect of rendering using the MPEG optimiser option when creating a video file from a set of project parts.

All the source clips have a 16.9 aspect ratio. The project file has full, trimmed, and cut clips, plus text, voice over and music.

Put together in a project file, the various clips fill the small or large display windows, as one would expect. Trimmed and cut clips made not difference to the display when playing. But the rendered result of that project file shows irregular "jumping" of the image aspect ratio: sometimes, it's the full display window, at other times it looks like the image is full width but there are black bars top and bottom, and still other times the reverse - bars on the side with a full vertical image.

Those latter characteristics are symptomatic of a 4:3 image converted to 16:9, and I promptly checked to make sure the sources were all 16:9, and they were. The jumping seems to happen within rendered clips and when a clip transitions from one to the next, but not every time. When it happens within a clip, the display 'flickers" as the aspect ratio changes and its that flicker that originally drew my attention to what seemed to be happening.

Photoshop :: Pixel Aspect Ratio Data In JPG Files

Jul 23, 2013

I came across something very weird and would like to know how to correct it.  There are a series of scanned Japanese manga that are JPG files, but for some reason have non-standard pixel aspect ratios stored.

I can open it in Photoshop, uncheck "pixel aspect ratio correction" in the view menu, and it looks like it should.  However, what I am curious is how to permanently change this data in the JPG without losing quality.

A friend of mine came up with a fix - open it in a hex editor and change the first 20 bytes to "FF D8 FF E0 00 10 4A 46 49 46 00 01 01 48 01 48 01 2C 00 00".  But any way to do this intelligently so I can batch-process the entire bunch of images.  There's a whole series of them that all have improper PAR data.

Here's a link to the file in question:

[URL].....

Note that the proper display is to set it to square pixels.  And if I recall correctly, that's the default for JPG - which means whoever made this image encoded some custom ones in it, and I want to remove them.

For what it's worth, I can open it in Photoshop, uncheck "pixel aspect ratio correction", then save it as PNG and the PNG file will be fine.  But that results in larger files, and again it's not very ideal for a large group of images.

Does Photoshop has the ability to batch-process JPEGs, just to REMOVE the PAR data (or reset it to square), rather than re-encode or re-save the image as another format?

AutoCad :: How To Unlock Aspect Ratio

Oct 14, 2009

I have imported an image into AutoCAD 2007 education version. The aspect ratio is a little wrong, so I would like to stretch it in one dimension. In another version of AutoCAD (LT 2008 ) I can simply right click on the picture to open the properties where there is an option to lock/unlock the aspect ratio. However, in this version there is no such option in the properties. It appears that by default the aspect ratio is locked, i.e. any stretch in the x direction is simultaneously copied in the y direction.

How to unlock the aspect ratio in this case? Is it because of the version I am using? Is it in another menu instead of properties? Is there a keyboard command to unlock aspect ratio?

To complicate matters a bit further, this is the Japanese version, however, I am fairly sure that is not the cause of the problem.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Cut Flange To A Slope

Feb 17, 2012

What I have is a bracket that sits on a pitched roof (ipt attached). The part was set up to reflect the positioning. On the lower side of the pitch, the easiest thing was to scuplt the flanges to the slope. Although the flat pattern results in some edges not being perpendicular to the face (See image). These show on the drawing. I realize you can remove these in the drawing but it would be nice to not worry about it.

What would be a better way of handling this situation?
