I have a user who has AutoCAD LT 2013 SP2 installed. When he tries to insert a link (Insert > Data > Link) the application bugs/stops responding. He then has to stop the application via the Task Manager.
View 3 RepliesI have a requirement to insert PDF files via an OLE object link into a large number of .iam and .ipt files. Is there iLogic code out there that will perform this feat? The plan would be to gather all file names and associated pdfs in an excel spreadsheet and run the iLogic against that.

I am trying to insert a table using a data link. I set up the Link through the DataLink manager and then insert the table using a range. I click OK to insert the table and after a few seconds of thinking ACAD sits there with no table on the screen. When I look in XREFs, the DL is there but says it is unrefrenced. Tried multiple ways of entering or setting up information to no avail.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm happy to be a corelcad 2013 (V.2013.0.73) user, or a Corelcadder, but i've got a problem when i insert an image (png or jpeg) from my HD on my mac.
i can insert the image normally and everything seems to work (i see te images, i can print it...), but if i close (and save) the file, then i re-open the file, i don't see any image. I see only the path of the image...
I'm messing around with tables and data links, practicing. I copied a range of cells in Excel, and did paste special to create a linked table.
Now I can delete the table object, but I cannot delete the link, cannot detach it.
When in Data Manager if I right click on the data link and click delete I get the error message "The data link is being used and cannot be deleted".
I have tried detaching, and the detach does not seem to take.
Now also, the table will not update from the source xls.
Win XP, AcadLT 2011, Office 2010. Using compatible setting for saving spreadsheet, for Office 2007 (not xlsx).
If I create a linked table by starting with the Table icon, choose "from a data link", choose the excel spreadsheet, etc., then I am able to later update the table from the spreadsheet, detach, delete the link, etc. But I can only delete the link if the table is not selected when I open the Data Link Manager.
But the one that was created following the directions from the Autocad video, with the copy, paste special, that link will not detach nor delete.
I write a program, this program needs to insert some standard illustrations. I made these standard illustrations into different blocks. And I store these blocks in a dwg file. Everytime I need to insert some illustrations, I just click the mouse on the current drawing, I want the illustration inserted. These means the following points:
(1) Import the blocks to the current drawing, if the blocks have already been imported, then do nothing.
(2) Specify the insert point by clicking the mouse, and I want the block's insert point to coincide with the mouse clicking point.
I am trying to insert OS Tiles into a drawing using the insert x-ref command. I have managed to insert 192 tiles but still need to add 29 more tiles to complete. When I try to insert another x reference AutoCAD just goes into a continual loop. Have to force AutoCAD to crash after ten minutes.
I am using AutoCAD 2014 MAP and have just had a new system built (i5 processor, 8GB RAM).

I have a client with AutoCAD Map 3D 2011 with an OLE DB Provider for SQL Server Data Source and a dbConnect link template connecting to the database.
Normally, when an object that is linked to the database via the link template is selected, the data from the linked table appears in the properties palette. Recently a change what made to the table (view) that the link template and the Link template no longer appears. The view was restored to its original state, but the link table still is not visible.
If the data source is disconnected via the task pane, the link template reappears (with only the key showing, of course). The data can still be seen via the link template "View Linked Table" context-sensitive menu in the task pane so the link still remains.
I have disconnected, deleted, and rebuilt the data source, but it has not worked and I cannot delete the link template as there are several thousand objects linked via the template.
I have to draw a few houses in a street and make a viewport for each house on its own.
Now when i make a viewport of 1 house, i only want the details of that one house and only see the borders of the neighbours houses.
Ofcourse the details and the borders of the houses are on different layers.
I was thinking to make a viewport with only borders as a background and place a smaller viewport with the details on top of it.
So if i "pan" in the small viewport to go to the neighbours house is it possible that the background also "pans" automatically to the same place?
I understand how to link a 3D.dwg with a 2D.dwg, but what I'm having trouble with now is linking the data,
is there anyway to create a table and link data directly from the .ipt to the .dwg that would update when I edited or revised the .ipt. I know that you can do this by exporting the parameters in an excel file then importing them to the .dwg but once I do that there isn't anyway to auto update the data....
i'm trying to link excel to autocad for a time now. and until now it didn't work for me.
Everytime it says "1 data link(s) do not allow their data to be written out." thats when i try to write it to the excel file.
I have just really started looking at better ways to create and use dynamic blocks. Is it possible to link one parameter with another and have it adjust that parameter accordingly?
A specific example I would like is that if a block is rotated beyond a certain amount them the text would rotate 180 degrees. So it needs to be like ' IF A=[0,180] THEN B=180, how to implement that though.

I have a drawing file with block objects linked to an external MS Access database. Each record in the database was manually linked to a block object using the 'Link Records to Objects' found in Data View under the Links menu. As you know, this allows you to Auto Zoom to an object when you select a record from the Data View table.
The problem I am having now is the Auto Zoom doesn't work when you select a record from the Data View table and I am not sure why. I can perform a spatial query on an object and display the linked record from the Data View table.
I was just wondering if it's possible to link these two rings together? I want the "the stick" to be able to move around the loop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a situation where I have my master BOM that is shown on sheet 1 of my drawing that represents everything shown on the drawing. What I am running into is I have to detail a couple of sub-assemblies as details on the drawing.
What I do is bring in views from that sub assembly seperate from the main assembly, but the problem is those items dont show up in the main BOM. I end up having to drag in a second BOM that I place off of the drawing sheet as well as adding line items in the main BOM to represent these components in the sub assembly. Then manually change the items numbers in the second BOM to match the iotem numbers in the main BOM. What I would like to know is if it is at all possible to link the two BOM's together so I can change the item numbers in the main BOM and it funnels down to the second BOM.
There are two points and between them a lot of obstructions therefore there is not possible to link using only ome line. Is there a command to link ?

I have an elevation drawing of a door that I am going to make parametric so it will update if I change things like top rail width, or stile width.
Along with the door elevation, I also have section drawings of that door. The sections are not parametric, just standard blocks and polylines.
Now, what I'm wanting to know is can I somehow link a value from the parametric block to the value of a dimension on the section drawings so that if I were to stretch the top rail in the section from 4 5/8" to 5", the top rail on the elevation would change with it?
I mean link value text in drawing A with value text in drawing B. I found command field but it not worked.

What i'm trying to do is have the ability to essentially link all of the objects per column (and/or per row) with a polyline. So if i have 5 columns generated, I would like to have 5 polylines extend over those columns. Any example of how to do something like this. Essentially what i'm looking to do is create something of a grid using the objects in my array as place markers. And now for a bit of existing code:
